Panama -> Weilburg

We often do canoo trips from my birthplace Wetzlar to the old baroque town Weilburg on the Lahn River. Weilburg has the only tunnel for ships (now mainly canoos) in Germany. The Lahn did a curve around the Weilburg palace. Before trains and steam machine ships had to be pulled with horses. To shorten transport times and save costs a tunnel was dug through the rock with the Palace on top.

The tunnel would be just a bit left from the picture.

The tunnel. The opening is build from nearby Lahn marble - the very same marble which is used in the foyer of the Empire State building
