Mandatory quests

Recommended Posts

Let's say I want to go start a lv.1 toon and get to Platinum as fast as possible, but without loosing the benefits of specific quests that give you important aids on character progression. In that respect, which quests do you feel to be mandatory? I'm talking about quests that give you attribute and/or skill points, or gear rewards that you don't want to miss out. Are there any differences between the Light and Dark path in this case, as in, are some of these quests limited to either side of the story?

Bottom line, which are the quests that you should always do in each difficulty even if you're speed running through the main quest? Any aid would be nice. ;)

Feed The Poor, (found in "Lower Thylysium") is a quest that gives one a boost after re-starting your toon after the quest is completed. You may play it over and over in multiplayer and get the same boost (one Skill Point and one Attribute Point) each time for a cumulative effect. Happy Gaming!

Playing it in LAN would be kind of like cheating though. :P Oh, it's Light Path specific too.

Are there any other quests that behave like this? Any quests that always give a ton of XP or awesome items? Like The Undead Legion quest that gives a legendary for instance. Any class specific quest should also be made in light of this matter.

So far then:

  • Class specific quest (legendary item)
  • Feed the Poor (one stat point, one skill point - Light Path only)
  • The Undead Legion (legendary item)

What else? ;)

That's pretty much it.

In Enhanced Edition and Diablo 2 Fallen I increased the number quest rewards significantly, both in terms of items and attribute/skill points.

So in vanilla it's just that?! Pity... :(

How about quests that by definition will hand out enormous amounts of XP/loot, or higher possibilities of snagging set/rare/unique/legendary items? Just so one doesn't do all the reaping (always) in the Orc Cave. Mini-bosses are probably a good place to go, but which ones are usually the best in terms of real benefit for a progressing character?

I'm thinking for instance about the Gahanka quest which fits on the previous paragraph. Any others like that one?

I thought Ancaria Airlines gave you attribute and skill points as well.  Maybe I'm just mistaken?

Now that you mention it, I did that quest yesterday in order to activate the starting island portal in single player mode and when I reloaded my toon I did have those points available. I guess that you're correct then, thanks!

So I went through the Wiki in search of uniques and legendaries that are given as quest rewards, and I found quite a few. Therefore this is the updated list including those quests:

That's all folks! If anyone wants to add anything else please do so. ;)

Oh crap, missed the CM unique/legendary/set items list... :nono:

I'm onto it.

PS: You meant rare (yellow). Found the info on the Wiki:

First two have a page on the Wiki, and the Twiitty Tister quest I'm very much aware of, but what and where are the others?! (found the info on all but the remaining two that don't have a link)

Easter Eggs (rare item, though probably no one would want to wear this one!)

I remember using bunny ears as part of a buff suit - pretty sure the bonuses are random, finding +combat arts is pretty sweet.

For Fallen angel I would go to Grimwald - good mobs, alot of XP, dragon to fight, 2 part quest to hunt down robbers (can't recall atm, but they have a panther with them iirc)

The quest you're speaking of is given by the guys near the entrance to the Grimwald Dragon cave. ;) The area you mention is nice for farming, but this thread was more about quests with specific rewards. Thanks for pitching in anyway.

I've been checking the lightsaber quests and I was able to make five out of the six that the Wiki lists. The Patience quest is given by the Priest Shellock in the Gods Temple of the Dryad region, and it's a long long chain quest that has you running around forever in order to get one lightsaber. You can have some set and rare rewards along the way though so it isn't all bad, but unless you can travel fast I suggest you leave this one behind. There are at least four other quests that are faster and more accessible if you want to snag some rare lightsabers.

The A Simple Case of Nerves quest... I just can't find any info on it. Anyone knows where the questgiver is in Nor Plat?

I actually can't find any info on the web, not just the Wiki, probably because it's a CM Patch quest (1.50 I believe). If anyone can shed some light on it it'd be cool. :)

The quest giver is downstairs in the same building as Tribal Elder Nubbutz the quest giver of the main (Light) quest Among_Orcs who asks you to kill trolls and bring him their teeth as proof so that he can make a necklace out of them. A case of nerves has you escorting the tribal leader's son as you encounter enemies, thereby battle-hardening him. Accepting the quest grants a special light-saber.

That is in fact what I said, yes sir.  In my mods I also made the new unique lightsaber "Disturbance in the Force" drop after completing the chain quest "A New Hope."  Seemed appropriate after all.  :P

Finally found some time to travel to Entruag only to realize it's a Light Path specific quest. :( There are no NPC questgivers at all in that village if you're playing the Shadow path, which makes sense considering it's the base for the other clan in the story. So that's that, Light Path seems to get more goodies in the end.

  • 2 years later...

A small addition to that list-> All the quests to fight the Elemental Lords (fire, frost, earth and poison).

Each one of them gives a legendary Relic and, as I said in a previous post and confirmed from what I see in the wiki, those quests/bosses are the only ones that gives it.

Not only do you get a relic with the highest single channel resistance stat that relic also get a +% to find valuable ... which makes them ... well quite valuable, at least in my mind.
And it's not just my armor rating and survival abilities which got better in the process but the loot as well (I only got two atm and that's still a respectable +20% something at around level 112 in gold, not bad!).

Just for the record, I added these rewards in the Enhanced Edition.  So one would need that mod installed to reap the benefits.

I wasn't aware of this, however the wiki seems to indicate otherwise in here -> http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Relics

and the specific part in that entry:

Quote

Item Modifier

Unique relics may also have an item modifier instead of a skill bonus. The following item modifiers are offered upon those relics:

Defense Value +X

Defense Value +X%

Willpower +X

Spell Resistance +X%

Legendary relics (orange) above Silver difficulty will always show this item modifier:

Chance to find valuables

I'll admit I am a bit confused. I do know community patch and EE significantly adds to the relics ... but I wasn't aware those legendary relics were only part of EE ... I stand corrected

EDIT: Oh wait! You mean that the Elemental lords DROPPING those specificall is part of EE? That might be what you meant. I only thought this initially because those quests are the only way I found them so far
