Community Patch 160 Bug Reports

@Thorin: Hey man, there was talk during development of 1.60 to make escort NPCs imortal but that was indeed abandoned. Can't remember exactly why but I do remember there was no consensus on this matter, so it stayed as it was. But given that the Idol mod on the Shadow Warrior's Reflective Emanation is now usable without any kind of frame rate drop I'd say that if you really want to make escort quests use him to do so. ;) Can't help with the debugging bit.

@Drydock: It's possible that it's due to you using a legacy character, Dmitriy mentioned many times before that it can cause unforeseen effects.

Thanks, Androdion

Pitty that the invunerabilty of escort NPC's isn't added, but then, with the extra teleport options we have now, it's barely needed anymore. With the exception of a few quests, that is. I guess that the only solution is running around with one thumb at the spacebar, in case I have a few NPC's in tow. :D

Thx for the heads up.

Thorin :)

Getting errors when initialising/running a dedicated server with this patch, see below:

(P.S.: all files were copied from a clean install of S2Gold with v0160 patch)

Upon actually entering the server with a char, I'm pestered with FAIL/ERROR messages, as below:

(Sorry for the GIFs, but I havent found a way to redirect the actual server messages (other than the cmdlet messages) from stdout into a log file yet)

@jwiz, did you do a complete re-install of the game and are you using a newly created character (not one originated from a previous version of Sacred 2)?

Yep, complete re-install (GOG version), before applying the CMP0160.

The char though is from Beta. Gotta test with a complete new char, I guess.

Here is some output on a completely fresh char (temple guardian) I've created just now.

Seems pretty much the same as above.

That's what I am using and I see that you posted that earlier; I'm sorry for missing it. I can't help but think that there are game files left over from an earlier installation. Since it's not working properly anyway, I would suggest a complete uninstall down to deleting any left over data, folders, and shortcuts relating to or used by the game which are not shared by other applications. Do not delete anything of which you are uncertain. After uninstalling it again, reboot your system and clear your cache. You may find CCleaner if you don't have it but I would download it from the developers site directly and get the freeware version. Please note that it will clear Windows temp files and Sacred 2 may take three attempts before it will launch after using CCleaner. Before installing the CM Patch and after reinstalling Sacred 2 Gold, open the game until you see the Main Menu. Now you may install the CM Patch 1.60. The game should now launch properly.

If Sacred 2 Gold was launching before using the CM Patch 1.50 I cannot see any reason why it won't launch after a fresh reinstall, a re-boot, Launching to the Main Menu and then an installation of the CM Patch 1.60. That's why I suggest that you check the thread that I linked to below if you are still experiencing any issues. Although another member was having a similar issue and he was using the Steam version, there are some things that I suggested that could be causing the issue when using either version. Please let me know when you get the game working.

Oh, there seems to be a misunderstanding.

The game runs alright for me, but I notice error messages in the log when I enter the stand-alone server.

Seems to me that some resources are missing or having a wrong path or denomination. This may lead to server crashes when these resources are being called upon.

In case of Generic Mod Enabler usage, it's possible, that the server does not recognize resource path substitutes.

I#m not using the Gen Mod Enabler nor am I running any other mods.  Just the I&B Addon and the CMP0160.

You know, those errors seem to be genuine, at least for the wearergroups. Could you please post a full log in *.txt format, please?

[EDIT]:

Cute, so the Dragon Mage's familiar was supposed to appear, or dissapear in a cloud of whirling dust. But they've made a typo in the code, so it should be "FX_DM_VERTRAUER", instead of "FX_DM_VERTRAUTER" in spells.txt.

Also, some of the staff lore skill and dual wield skill item modifiers might not have been spawning, due to incorrect skill base definitions in blueprint.txt.

Finally, some of the NPCs are not getting some of their equipment due to wearergroup mismatches.

I can't promise to have fixes for those in the patch itself, but they're definitely being introduced in the Addendum.

Good, the ones from the log file have been addressed.

There maybe be further errors hidden in the game.

Probable, but not very likely - one of the log error entries was addressing Hegiman, I strongly doubt you were starting in the Bengaresh region. Therefore, those error reports are the result of the complete worldspace analysis upon generation process.

It looks like they're spawning, but are not properly locked if the character lacks the skill.  When I initially tested, it was with a character with the Magic Staff skill mastered, so they appeared and all seemed well.  I never thought to check if they were locked for a character without the skill.

If there's no string available for defining a Magic Staff Mastery prerequisite (would not surprise me), the bonuses could be changed to "SKILL_WIZARDSTAFF_LORE" like the others, since that one works.  The higher level requirements would at least still be in play.

This is so useful.  I always had to rely on my own observational skills to do this kind of equipment fixing.  This makes it so much easier to resolve.

This string works, if used for "spez", not "basedonskill". For "basedonskill" the string should be "skill_wizzardstaff_lore", or "skill_wizzardstaff_mastery".

Once again the devs' liberal spelling habits makes modding interesting.

Do you think there's any chance of updating the patch after all? I was given to understand you would only be updating mods.

No "Power of NIF".

I was in LAN/Freeplay. Picked up the Epic Office Quest. Went to see Frank Rentmeister. I did not get the "Power of NIF". Level 40, Silver for what it's worth. Character was created recently with version 160 of the patch installed.

EDIT: I just tried in Multiplayer - Silver - Campaign. Not there either.

Am I doing something wrong? All I did was talk to Frank, nothing dropped and nothing appeared in Inventory.

Found this in Patch Notes: "The "Power of NIF" and "Benny's Promise" items are now received along with the rest of the loot at the end of the quest." Shame :(

There's a principal matter of space within dlls. I can't reverse the single mount system - the s2logic.dll space, gained from applying it, is used up by the following fixes. Therefore, updating the patch proper without introducing the content rejected by some is not possible.

Some further error msgs I noticed, see encl.
