Carnach and his Fire Spirit cronies

So I've been running this cheesy Paladin build recently with damage mitigation Charge and Holy Fire + Conviction aura. However Carnach and his Fire Spirits won't get any damage from Holy Fire even though their armor and DM should be lowered by Conviction. Conviction runs at level 8 and Holy Fire at level 17 with 728 fire damage. Any idea why this is the case? Do they have 130%+ damage mitigation?

heh, I love this "corny" idea of yours to create the build as a cheesy knight...I've had my share of building some left click builds from horses with no cA's... quite long to play and ulimately a little dry ...  ... I'm hoping that someone else here has some advice for you in why the damage isnt being dealt?

Is it no damage, or just very low damage?

Carnach does have extraordinarily high fire resistance and mitigation.  Not sure if I was ever able to create true immunity to any damage types.
