Popular Post podgie_bear 184
I had two at almost the same time. The original Sacred and Morrowind. Morrowind was my favourite at first, but Sacred introduced me to online multiplayer gaming and that extra dimension made all the difference for me and the game left a permanent 'mark' on me. Even today I have to delete my character if it dies in any game I play, because Sacred hardcore servers infected me with hardcoreditis! 1 1 Link to comment
Veracious 267
I'm not sure what people consider rpg but I go back to zelda on NES. Then wolfenstein on pc. Then bloodrayne on ps2. My ex introduced me to diablo 2 back in 2003 then I went looking for more like it and discovered sacred. Now I've played sacred 2 and diablo 3 and I'm currently on path of exile. 1 Link to comment

Hooyaah 2,800
My first RPG was Sacred 2. I was a bit lost at first because the discs came with minimal instructions on game play. Before that I played FPS games: Doom, Doom II, Quake, Quake II, Quake III Arena, and then Call of Duty World At War. I have also played Nier: Automata and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. Sacred 2 is without a doubt my all time favorite game. 1 Link to comment

gogoblender 3,042
Ahhh. Friday... sit down down time and a chance to read and dig into the posts I get to mirror and get some acknowledgement from other postings in this topic.. Sacred it was, first and foremost, and thats where it will always be! Only reason I got into it was because parents got me a computer, and at the time, getting downloads from online sites was the big thing... dunno how many games I went through, but after seeing Sacred in game and getting to launch a bow and arrow from a horse that was fully mobile, took my breath away. Not only did that moment change the world I saw through the screen, but sacred also came with an online community and... Hard Core!. I remember seeing that instead of just playing single person, it was possible to meet up with others...but open just meant everytime I died I could just press reset and I would just come back to life... I got bored of this after a few weeks and during that time the Sacred Forum sucked me in full time...just could not get getting over reading posts and quickly found myself as breathless as how I was the first time I was playing the demo... course one day I saw a pic of a super high level Seraphim with the words Hard Core on it... we found that well-hidden strangely placed skull, its eyes lit up and the world of Hard Core emerged. World's never been the same since gogo 1 Link to comment

chattius 2,512
Don't know if MAngband fits Multiplayer version of Angband. Rogue -> Larn -> Moria -> Angband (all turn based with ascii 'graphics'). I compiled those from the legendary Fish Discs for the families Amiga 1000 and did some code changes requested by my siblings. . Then like 25 years ago a multiplayer version came and was played at the SUN workstations of the university. My favourite (and most hated character by others) was an halfling rogue with a bow. When enemies were damaged by mages who retreat to restore mana I sneaked in for the kill and loot. 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Androdion 870
I don't think that any of the games that I've played on my old Master System can count as RPG, I think the one that could get closer to having RPG-like elements would be Alex Kid in Miracle World. It was a fun 2D platformer with some awkward graphics and antics but it came bundled with the console, so I learned to love it and had a blast finding all the secrets all by myself. But yeah, now that I really think of it I suppose it doesn't count so I'd have to go with Final Fantasy VII on PC. Running around with Cloud, Barret and Tifa, trying to kill Ultima Weapons and finding all the best summons possible. I was never able to get the best out of the game but I was able to finish it even without Quadra Magic and KOTR, so I was perseverant ha ha. I'm having a total blank of to what ARPG I played first though... I was mainly into FPS and RTS games with the occasional dash into third person hack'n'slash games. To this day I still adore the Legacy of Kain series and its incredible story. So first ARPG then, I don't really know for sure but maybe Dungeon Siege 2?! Damn did I play that game a lot! Finished the game on Veteran with maxed out toons, twice. I think one of those two included the Broken World expansion so I would just do game->expansion on all difficulties until I had all of them maxed out, all quests made and all running jokes memorised. Does anyone remember that "Bruno!!!" joke from one of the guys at the enemy camp in the desert?! Man I need to find a video of that conversation. Oh boy, there's a whole playthrough of that sidequest with the entire conversation! It's hilarious! 2 Link to comment
Mare 79
I'm ashamed to say it, but I've never played any RPG apart from Sacred, if we miss some stupid MMORPGs. Anyway, one of my hobbies is to make RPGs (table games, not videogames) 1 Link to comment
