Currently my daughter finished a little challenge: killing whole hellfire arena with just redemption godpower. Fighting the 5 elemental bosses in one fight showed that mastery in ancient magic is a must have. So finishing the arena was at level 77 in normal difficulty.

ancient magic: mastered - only one damage type

divine devotion : mastered - Mastery had a triple effect; the mastery boni from a combat art lore, from a combat art focus and a bigger reduce in god power cooldown.

concentration: mastered

prayer buff boosts intelligence for the god power

conviction buff reduces armour and makes opponent more sensitive to magic damage. Offensive because it lowers opponents defense

holy freeze buff is defensive: slowing enemies and boosting own defense value

holy defense focus: modifying buffs

holy offense focus; modifying buff and fist of heaven

armour lore, energy shield lore, shield lore (there were Kira's in a chest, else take one with base defense unlocked and boosted by shield lore) Trying to finish a fight as long as Holy Shield is up.

And last not least: Alchemy. For the arena green and pink potions proved to be useful. Undeads don't come back into life thanks pink, and dot damage is a weakness for Holy Shield. But green potions which have -x% damage over time unlocked with Alchemy in D2F.

Outside the arena: using a staff to recharge Fist of Heaven with reg per hit.

Fighting some bosses needed retreating because redemption lasted not long enough. Doing extra damage with fist of heaven/staff shots would probably have that prevented.

I do love the challenges you come up with!

I'm kind of relearning my way around the game after spending almost half a year playing with totally different mechanics (Dungeon Siege 2 is team-based and is pretty much different in mostly everything), but I'm slowly getting there. The fact that I'm running Inferno from level 1 has been both a curse and a grace since it makes me be alert at all times, plus every little detail the game has like resistances/modifiers/damage channels is pretty much exacerbated in this mode, so you can really tell when socketing this or putting hard points there makes a difference. Both your weaknesses and your strengths are more easily noticeable with Inferno mode.

As for the arena, I'm currently "stuck" in round 8 of the first stage in Normal difficulty because fighting Nihlathak and Asmarael at the same time is a total nightmare. Root, debuff and summons, plus Asmarael likes healing herself before I can drop her HP low enough for deathblow to kick in. I have a pole arm specialised in each damage channel and even so I can't seem to break them. I haven't died but I also can't damage them enough. They really complement one another against a melee type toon which relies on buffs for defense/offense. :dntknw:

What's your Divine Gift?  Just curious. This thread made wonder if it would be of any use to you.

I also have Philios as my deity, but I don't think I've ever used it. Force of habit since the cooldowns are so long and using it requires a huge investment in Divine Devotion. I can give it a go though.

PS: Oh my, Redemption is a complete QOL power! :D Asmarael couldn't spawn any spiders and Nihlathak on his own was much more accessible. Another lesson learnt, I'm not ditching a god power in Sacred 2 ever again.

Cooldown

The cooldown for the priestess is at 86s at level 77 currently. The theoretical minimum is around 60s I think. 70-75s is more realistic.

And yes, the build challenge was to show possibilities.

Combat Discipline

I think I forgot to mention that the damage part from combat discipline works on all CA's even not in a combination. So it works on the god power too.

Holy Shield and Alchemy

Important notes for Damage absorbtion:

Build-in Damage over time can not be absorbed.

Thats why -x% damage over time from green potions is so nice. Before talking to the ! in the arena, a green is quaffed.

At Hard difficulty the godpower does -if any at all- only tiny damage to some monsters. This is with Ancient Magic mastery and Conviction running. Blessed Hammer with an Ice Damage weapon is however working for this build a bit. The defense of the Philios godpower is nice if you can manage to keep the fights short.

My daughter plays with Energy Shield duration lifted to 75s base to 90s max. The old 48s playing is playable for a Holy Fire build, but with a Holy Freeze build it is frustrating to recast Holy freeze and Energy Shield so often.

Next Philios Priest test will be a Barbarian.

Machine Gun Preacher

The idea is quite simple, neither the Redemption godpower, nor Warcry, nor Grim Ward have a high damage per second output normally. What they all share is range. The idea is to spam Howl to reduce the enemies max hitpoints while Grim Ward and Redenmption are running.

It is like 10000 damage on a 500000hitpoints boss is a pain, 10000 on 100000hitpoints max is a different story. Especially if the boss is able to heal up.

What we want is more range, faster ticks, higher ca-level for debuffing, and more (base) damage.....

So this build is not socketing x% damage gear. Personally I hate Reg Per Hit builds (the build would allow it), so we won't use it. We try to lower the regeneration time instead, so we don't have to target and can play a bit more relaxed (getting old).  What we mainly socket is: +all Skills, +all Combat Arts. This will work on god power and combat arts. We also socket -X% Regeneration Time which isn't affecting the godpower. We also try to get everything with +Combat Art Range. We put all in Intelligence and use +x%Intelligence items if possible. All this works on Godpower too.

We take Alchemy to have long lasting Stamina potions (and other useful effects).

The Character at level 127, finishing main quest hell, and all quests (including Arena in hell) which give skill points

Concentration (1) 75/340

Armor Lore (7) 75/175

War Cry Lore (4) 75/252

Tactical Warfare Focus (-) 9/186

Berserk Combat Focus (-) 36/213

Ancient Magic (5) 75/175

Alchemy (-) 1/101

(order in mastering) hard points/total points in skill

Strength 462, Stamina 450, Vitality 479, Dexterity 359, Intelligence 774, Wisdom 1844

Main combat arts

Natural Resistance 1/91.3 Guard/Awareness/Resilience

Iron Skin 1/89.9 Ward/Unstoppable/Backlash

I'd love to see a video of that build. My only question is how do you work around the fear effect, doesn't it make the mobs run away from both Grim Ward and Redemption? Or does the increase in CA range compensate for that?

Redemption has a buildin slow. So when godpower is active there is not much of a problem.

If not active:

I hate to be surrounded. So it is mainly a segment of the circle which is hit. And normally it is in front of me. So by slowly advancing they are in War Cry range. I was considering to mod Howl for slowing movement, but I didn't really needed it at the first Singer. So I modded Howl to reduce enemies attack value. But modding it to slow movement is of cause an option.

The video...

That is one of my weaknesses :(

My computer is mainly a working machine with 3 monitors. So the video card was bought for this and not highspeed gaming. Probably the video will run with 13fps and low res. But I will try. Fight a boss?

Scenario1: Boss fight activating with talk

Trophies and Stamina Potion, Shout, Redemption, talk

In combat War Cry, keep howling till next Grim Ward is possible, repeat

Scenario2: Boss fight, aggressive

Trophies and Stamina Potion, Shout from a save distance, place a Grim Ward when you think boss is in range

advance, redemption, keep howling till next Grim Ward is possible,..

Scenario3: mixed mob

War Cry, 2s Howl, War Cry

Scnerario4: just normal mobs

as #3, but probably the first warcry is enough

Scenario5: escort quest

Your companion is stuck in a fight a bit away: place a grim ward in his direction

You see, the fear is mainly at boss fights

I think I need a better video recording tool. Fighting a boss and it are 4 parts with each 400MP ?

Since when is Fraps no longer free?

The savefile would be way less big....

If it's too troublesome don't worry about it. I was just curious because you also didn't mod Grim Ward for slowing opponents, but since you're saying that you don't want to be surrounded I can understand how you're running it. I'm quite the opposite in my playing style, I tend to round them up and hate when they run away. :D

I can upload the savefile if there is interest by you or from Flix for checking balance. Or just tell me a good video tool with a even better compression.

@chattius I've uploaded a video of Steve busting some heads in Grunwald, check it out. :)

I used OBS Studio for recording, Avidemux for cutting and uploaded it to Youtube with an unlisted profile. I think where I lost the most time was on Youtube, of all places... :dntknw: Anyway, both programs are very intuitive and those nearly 3 minutes of video amounted to 329MB, 1080@60FPS. I'd say that's pretty lightweight.
