gogoblender 3,068
Hey guys We have been concerned lately with the surge in other forums regarding links to advertising, pornography or illegal warez sites. As such, all members of the mod team now have more easily identifiable navy blue colors and italics. We hope that this will help community members discern and contact a member of the mod team that is on duty regarding the pulishing of links that is in contravention of of our Terms of Service agreement with our provider, links that have content which break the forum rules, and any other links to sites which may be deemed offensive and/or contentious in nature. By looking at the bottom of the forum, you can easily see community members that are currently on the forum and it is now easier to distinguish a mod team member's name that you can easily click on and send a pm to. With between 150 to 200 posts now going up a day here, everyone's help with this aspect of maintaing our site would be super helpful and appreciated. Thank you gogo Link to comment

DreDBanGeR 32
you could also add another level of depth in your forum which basicly means no one can post until a moderator or admin grants you posting rights, this is however quite timeconsuming and you would have to check regularly who is new on the board Edited May 24, 2007 by DreDBanGeR Link to comment

Heck no!! I've been on one like that, on one section it was a week before my post was up! And did I say? NO NO NO! Katran 0
P.S. Why not create an illegal thread/post report thread, where we can post when found that will mean that everyone can find any troubleing post really easy. With PM we takecare of them quite behind closed doors. Link to comment

DreDBanGeR 32
Ugh! Heck no!! I've been on one like that, on one section it was a week before my post was up! And did I say? NO NO NO! that's not what I meant. I meant an extra step before they can post for the first time not check every post. basicly just an extra step when registrating on the forum, iirc it's now like this, you fill out a form, await activation email, activate, start posting,. what I mean is those steps and 1 step added, admin or mod examines the personal page of the person, did they fill out information like how do they know about this site what's his/her connection to this site, and Then he can decide whether or not the applicant is able to post. gogoblender 3,068
Regarding the addition of a Report This Post button: We've been considering this actually, and I'm not a fan of this for now. It takes away the benefit of the doubt that we give to our community regarding their posting "goodness" and, I believe, empowers too much quick-handed abuse for negativity. I'm much more a fan of having to make people take the extra time to pm us telling us that there is a problem with a post rather than just the easiness of a one button operation. I'm more inclined to find more skilled mods than create, what I have seen at other forums, turn into a spam fest for perceived "bad" posts I feel that this extra work involved makes them review their decision of whether a post is truly bad or not, and takes away from the too-dangerous-for-me-anyways, convenience of a one button operation. So far, there have been no really large problems here, and this thread has served to heighten the level of wariness that we need to further improve our forum's efficiencies. Of course, if we do see a lot of dubious posts and begin to receive a lot of complaints about other people and posts, this Report Posts button would certainly be on the list of possible avenues to explore. gogo p.s. @ Dredd, we actually already have the ability to do that in our forum, but funnily enough our very long and wacky entrance exam/set of questions seems to weed out a lof ot the peeps who probably wouldn't like it here Of course, if, in the future, the number of posts increases to an even higher level than it is (and it's already at a lof of posts ) and we begin to see a number of posters that exhibit unforumish activity, its definitley something to look at Link to comment

Mod team actually had green for a while, but me and Brad both found ourselves trying to find other colors cuz we didn't like it all that much. Oh well... everyone's happy gogo Link to comment
