Jericho's been canceled -- join the fight to renew :)

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if anyone here watched Jericho, or has even heard of it.

The big story was that CBS canceled it last week.

The bigger story is that the fans reacted in an unprecedented fashion :Just_Cuz_12:

Like to the toon of a 75k Petition, a full page ad in Variety Weekly, and 13,000 pounds (over 6 TONS) of peanuts sent to CBS corporate office in NYC.

If you want to participate, OR if you just want to see a major corporation overrun by 8 million furious fans, swing by some of these links :Just_Cuz_12:

Heya Kotr!

long time no see ^^

I remember when serenity was cancelled, and the huge internet backlash that followed. It was cool seeing fans all come together like that and the number of websites that sprouted up was phenomenal

I'll give your posted links a visit and see what's up.

Cheers!

heh, it's pretty crazy huh.

lol, if, somehow, the fans can't get this show back I'll definitely go and get the whole first year season.

It sounds like the peeps who loved Galactica loved this show too.

definitely something I'd like to see

I think the peanuts thing is kinda like throwing Tomatoes at a very unpopular/terrible stage performer or if a person speaking to a large group of people says something the people really don't like. Like maybe...

*CBS*

"Good day people of T.V. land. We've decided to cancel Jericho..."

*The People*

"Boooooo!" :4rofl: <--CBS spokeperson getting pelted-<

Something to that affect I think, haha. For myself though I've never heard of Jericho.

Oh and... Hi KOTR! :bye:

It was a quote from the very last episode of season 1, where the main character calls this other guy Nuts...something like that :)

Anyway, you probably all already know this, but Jericho has been renewed for a shortened 2nd season, and they're in talks of having a 3rd!

We had this discussion on another forum, whereby, shows get cancelled because of lack of numbers which is what the big studios look at for advertising dollars, afterall its the advertising dollars that they want.

BUT since the internet and access to bittorrent is now so easy, most folks don't wait for commercial stations to air the program 2 to 3 months down the track (in Australia's case anyway) they just grab it more or less an hour after it is shown and thrown on to torrent sites.

So a dilemma occurs when the studios start talking about cancelling the show, they need dollars from advertising to keep afloat yet a majority of the audiences aren't watching commercial TV.

So the question is, how will commercial TV survive the download phenomenon as most programs are allowable via download legally the next day via CBS, ABC etc and how will they crack down on torrent sites:)
