lolbomb 5
Hello Darkmatters Forum! As this is my first time posting here, please excuse my limited knowledge on the customs on here. I just thought someone might be able to help me out. Feel free to give me tips on what I should include when posting here, etc. Anyways, to my question/problem: I would like to increase the character speed of the character I'm playing with in Sacred 2. I did some research and found this thread where people already gave an answer to what I'm looking for. I edited my creatureinfo.txt file accordingly (I think so at least), but my character doesn't seem to run as fast as it should regarding the standard speed that's set in the vanilla creatureinto.txt file. I do think that my character runs faster (probably faster than a mount) but I wanted it way faster than that. Is there a cap to the speed or is there something I might have done wrong? Any answers are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. 1 Link to comment
Flix 5,116
Hello and welcome. There is a game-wide speed cap in balance.txt. Probably you just hit the cap. Open balance.txt and find the line that says "SpeedMax" and increase the value. Default is 1500, or 150%. I use 4500 in my mods, which is 450%. 1 Link to comment
lolbomb 5
Thanks for the quick answer! I've tried changing this value to some really high values but it doesn't seem to change anything. For perspective: My balance.txt SpeedMax is now at 750000 and my creatureinfo.txt runSpeed is at 10900. I changed the Seraphim runSpeed in creatureinfo.txt. 1 Link to comment

For perspective: My balance.txt SpeedMax is now at 750000 and my creatureinfo.txt runSpeed is at 10900. I changed the Seraphim runSpeed in creatureinfo.txt. Multiple possibilities. Firstly, the game stores the balance.txt settings as binary numbers. The most common one would be 16 bit, which would mean that any number beyond 65535 can lead to unpredictable and quirky results. Most developers would then apply some sort of safety net, saying "if this number is bigger than 65535, return the (hardcoded) deault value instead", at least I would do that. Secondly, the same thing can apply to creatureinfo.txt. Thirdly, there could be a hidden cap. That would have nothing to do with bit integers then, but the result would be the same. Lastly and most unlikely, you got a mod installed that changes some code that makes the entries in one of the two files not work like in Vanilla. In that case, try to mod speed lore or an item that gives your character movement speed instead. Also when doing such drastical changes, remember that The camera has a limited movement speed that cannot be increased. If your character outruns the camera, it will just teleport to it making your game essentially a power point presentation The game builds the world around your character. If your character is faster than the tick rate allows, this could lead to unpredictable behaviour like your character getting stuck in a not loaded obstcle when the camera teleports, freezes, crashes and file corruption 2 Link to comment
