Furthermore they present you a tool that will calculate how many points you will lose if you abandon a colony. In addition there are some more tools for the calculation of your resource production and the used up resources in your researches and your fleet. They have a small help for graviton research as well.

 

I have used this calc to phalanx fleets WITHOUT a phalanx when they sent ships to attack me!

I calculated how long it would take them to return home. I would then send a fleet from a nearby planet BACK to the attacker's home planet and, with the help of this calculator was able to twice now phalanx down to within a few seconds and wipe em out!
