This thread explores the different concept of defense in the game. And puts us in a perspective where we can ask serious questions about this game. For instance... how much time do I have to contribute to this game? Do I want to build dynamic defense systems or static?

yeap. and if people can do it in uni6, they also can do it here. one guy asked me to launch my IMPs to one guy. at the moment it wouldnt help, but few his allies have colonies and also building IPMs, so one nice day we eill take whole that defence

Gint, what's the max distance right now that yer ipms can reach?

how is the distance increased and by what factor?

Do you get so many x solar systems per impulse level or soemthing?

for IPMs you need missile silo lvl4. level 2 alows you to buil antimisillies. and range depends just on impulse engine. I will ask that guy from uni6 how much impulse eng are increasing range

A thought experiment here:

let's say...it was our job to defend from Candle Mass's atttack

What would we do?

Imagine we were stuck on the defensive side of the fence and had to defend but with defensive installations only...

my question therefore is...is there ANY sort of built defence that can withstand the attack Candle mass just did?

or...did the guy defending just choke and not know how to build abms?

Do you guys think that a phalanx would work if you have no name? 'Cause normal probes don't. There's this one guy in Gal 2 (near me) who doesn't have a name & probe's just won't give a spy report.

@gogo - they crash that guy in 12h, and defender wasnt online (I think), and when he came back it was`too late :). an even if he would be online - 3 guys can build ipms faster then one guy antimisillies, so best thing to do - dont hide tons of res and huge fleet behinde defence - it wount help if somebody will be after you

@ llama - maybe its some bug (deleted account, but still some things left)?

so...the way I'm seeing this...perhaps turtles can have a chance. First off, this guy was caught surprised. Second...it sounds like he froze and didn't respond properly to the precise type of attack that happenned.

So...I would say that a turtle with an extremely high nanites capability to produce whatever is needed at that moment combined with a responsive good thinker in terms of cancelling out attacks against the planet could make attackers think again.

p.s.heh, I'm no def builder myself...but I know we have some players here with a TON of def...I''m just trying to canvas good play styles for turtles using a lof of def. There must be a way! Ipms are so weird...it's almost like their damage is TOO powerful...they're so good at taking out plasmas!
