The Prototype Sword Quest

Recommended Posts

I finished this video a while ago, I've just not made the time to post it yet. It's a long video clocking over 17 minutes, so get a cup of coffee :D and perhaps a bag of popcorn and enjoy the show!

P.S. - Perhaps one of these days I'll figure out how to add Divx videos into posts.

Thanks for that. I didn't realize you had to take Jacquaire north to the fortress. I always just walk him back to the edge of the forest.

Also, I use a horse to travel through from Mascarell to Jacquaire. Then I switch to on-foot. It is easier to keep him safe if I'm on foot. And... I'm worried I won't step across the trigger to make him appear in Braverock tavern (which is located on the road somewhere between the edge of Tyr-Fasil and Mascarell portal.)

Thanks, I enjoyed your video! :)

I don’t get it. I do everything like this, and Jaquerie almost never teleports to Mystdale. He just stays in the tavern in Brock. Last time I managed to finish the quest, I waited more than 30 mins, then when everybody except me left the server, Jacquerie suddenly decided to finally leave the tavern. Next day he wouldnt move for an hour and I just gave in. Annoying :D

If anyone does an item quest (like Riddle in the Desert) it breaks the quest chain. With a now unknown state, the quest cannot recover.

This can also happen with an old server where the temp files haven't been cleaned out. (The physical server I'm talking about now, the one hosted by Krawall, not the game server.)

A great video walkthrough, on one of the most difficult quests to complete. The length of this quest as well as it's "notoriety of buggishness" makes getting that sword at the end a real treat.

A few things I've learned on how to get that sword at the end.

-Use mini map to find his blip when you're hunting for him at the end.

-make sure if you already have one prototype you've got it hidden in your chest BEFORE you get another one from him at the end...or all your work will be for nothing.

-try and make sure you do this quest on a fresh server...servers are so buggy these days with so many people really stretching online play and if that server goes down or anything out of the ordinary happens, all the time invested into this will be lost

Oh I have a kind of trick/tip to do with the MystDale part of this series. Before arriving at Mystdale be sure to have a decent amount of Far Sight on. About 200 if possible. As soon as you arrive in Mystdale switch on your far sight and put your mini map on. Jacquire will be one of the white dots on the mini map. Typically he stands just under the house that is directly south of the portal. Here's the thing... Sometimes the game is undecided(read as confused) as to where to place Jacquire within Mystdale and he will flash around very fast in the town. With your mini map on what you'll see is a white dot zipping all over the place for about 3 seconds. Try to follow the zipping white dot so that it doesn't go out of your view and get lost. It will stop and once it does you can go talk to him. One time I found him near the Zoo in Mystdale so he could probably end up anywhere.

So basically you just need about 200 far sight, your mini map on and hunt around for the white dot and check them all. :4rofl:

Very nice guide DaveO :).

One thing I've noticed is that if you don't immediately go to Mystdale Castle through the waypoint portal then he tends to show up more often than not. I find that every time I run from Gloomor all the way to Mystdale he is there, whereas it's more 50/50 if I take the portal to Mystdale. Even at 50/50 I still have to search for him a majority of the time.

I'm going thru an attempt to encode using the Divx Author under Insane quality settings. I'll then see if Stage6 accepts the file, and if so then I'll post a 'redub' with the better quality along with a saved Pong video that I could not encode to what I felt to be a satisfactory quality. If all goes according to plan, then at least I've shown that I'm tenacious and never willing to discard video that may still be salvageable using a different method.

Now that I have to 'shop' around for another video hosting service due to Stage6 going down, which ones are supported here in the forum? I know that YouTube is, but I'd like to know of any others as well as applicable formatting.

I'll be doing a thorough search for the best option Dave but in the meantime I'll be using http://www.Vimeo.com which is supported here. I haven't added the vimeo button to the drop down list yet but I'll do that sometime today for sure.

There's is a bit of hope that Stage6 will be returning with a new identity but for now it's all hearsay. :drunkards:
