chattius 2,512
I had to forbid my kids to leave the house to visit school. First orcan 'Mike' then 'Niklas' hitting our area in just 2 days. Our company gave work free for everyone. We are all either living in a forest or in volunteer firefighters or both. I planed today for controlling how save our surrounding roads through the forests are. The good thing is: the storms produced enough broken branches to have wood pellets for my hybrid wood gas heating and power unit for the next decade. The storms brought a heavy cooling and we may have snow the next days. So more damage to the predamaged trees is near certain. 1 Link to comment
chattius 2,512
Yesterday afternoon we had something like 100 kilometres per hours storm with sharp ice splinters between. Impossible to do much more clean up than sawing the biggest tree trunks on the road in handable pieces and pull them away with the unimog. So we are only reachable with our old Unimog and Mercedes G-Class vehicles. Used the unimog to move the kids to school today. It is a former army beast and a bit armoured on the roof. No danger for more falling trees as far as I could check and falling branches should be stopped by the roof. 1 Link to comment
gogoblender 3,039
I love those kinds of vehicles. Kind of like an assault with Transformer bots! gogo Link to comment
Veracious 267
Well it's getting warmer but mother nature is messing with my emotions. It's been raining now instead of snowing. Grrrrr Link to comment
Popular Post chattius 2,512
We had 2 storm days with ice and hail this week. But today at easter sunday morning: swallows are back, first butterflies fly around and most important: The holy easter ants left their underground winter fortress to bring fun to the kids. It is a tradition in my family for generations to visit a forest ant hill on easter sunday and roll painted eggs through the ant hive. The holy easter ants will spray their acid at the eggs and the colour reacts with the acid and produces eggs with very individual patterns. The payment for their paint work are some mealworms and a bit sugar. 3 Link to comment

Veracious 267
Well no more snow on long island, ny, but now it won't stop raining long enough to enjoy the warmth that's been here. Just can't win. 1 Link to comment
