Just snow. I may have read some power outages but like 1000 homes. They were up and running in a day. Some rising tides by the shore but nothing like Sandy. All in all a walk in the park. My gf and I were smart. We shoveled every hour. An inch at a time. By the time the storm ended there was almost nothing to clean up but the cars. Best choice ever lol. 1 Link to comment

I remember growing up and having to keep a trepidatious eye upon the garage-way when we were kids... more snow meant more we had to do to get it shoveled for our parents! gogo Link to comment

You're right across the Sound. I'm just minutes from the Port Jeff / Bridgeport ferry. Yea all our snow has melted from the streets and driveways as well. The rain fall after was a big help. Unfortunately everyone still sucks at driving. 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Delta! 987
The fires are out, thank goodness. It rained a little bit on Wednesday and Thursday morning early, but the heat is back on full blast today... Hillcrest berry farm, a major supplier of fresh and frozen berries in South Africa lost their entire blueberry plantation... and they are my favourite! a lot of their other berry bushes(raspberry, gooseberry and blackberry) suffered burn damage and got "sick from the thick coats of ash. a few more wine farms on the other side of Simonsberg lost some vineyards, and had the firefighters there around the clock. The university had a food run to collect food and water/cold drinks/energy drinks for them that they could quickly eat while being busy fighting fires I am jealous of all the snow that you guys have there! another year that has been added to my life and I still have not seen snow... Popular Post Knuckles 904
Feel so bad for that berry farm....hopefully they have the resources to recover from that.... Snow is AWESOME I just don't get some people who live here and hate snow....if you really hate snow, why live where it's guaranteed to snow every winter? Of course some 'fly' south for the winter to their second homes in Florida and such....Even if I had enough money to afford 2 houses, there is no way I'm missing the snow. Toward the end of the season...it can get old digging out of the umpteenth storm to dump 6" plus on you. Bless whomever invented snow blowers. Theuns, how cold does it get where you live? If you're not used to cold weather and wind chill, visiting a northern area during winter can be quite the shock..make sure you bundle up. But yes I think everyone should experience a snow storm (no need for a blizzard). A simple 6-8 inches of snow and have a snow ball fight, make a snow angel, go sledding, or maybe even skiing. Nothing better than a hot cup of cocoa after being out in the cold and warming up by the fireplace. Reminds me of my time in the Navy....I was stationed above the Arctic Circle for a bit...the day I left it was -45°F with a wind chill of about -80°F. Two days later I got off a plane in Guantanamo Bay Cuba. It was about 95°f with about 100% humidity. That's a 140°F temp change (not even including wind chill effects). It was soooo hot to me that I could actually feel the hot air enter my lungs. I started sweating immediately and basically didn't stop for 2 weeks. Was sick those two weeks too. When I reported to my duty station there, guys said I looked like something the cat had dragged in I just love snowstorms and thunder storms....guess part of me has always been a weather geek. Probably nothing prettier than a freshly covered snowscape. 2 Link to comment
