The Backstreet Boys -> I want it that way

Fritz Schulz-Reichel -> Der schräge Otto

The first german song which made a number one on billboard. He was a jazz piano player before the war. After the war he played in clubs  on a mistuned piano. He said he wants it this way. He played as schräger Otto. Schräge Musik was Jazz. schräg is also strange or crazy. So the name Schräger Otto was translated into Crazy Otto.

Ragtime was nearly dead in the USA when Crazy Otto rescued it. Watch the video you probably know it and didn't know why.

Johny Maddox played a Crazy Otto medley.

Creedence Clearwater revival did a 'Crazy Otto' instrumental with a mistuned guitar

Grateful Dead 'Ramble on Rose' has

'[Verse 3]
Just like Crazy Otto, just like Wolfman Jack
Sittin' plush with a royal flush, aces back to back
Just like Mary Shelly, just like Frankenstein
Clank your chains and count your change and try to walk the line'
