How to get a bear that can level up and fight at your side

Recommended Posts

in sloeford (just outside of) its a quest where you are asked to find mother bears favorite cub, maybe some of you know it, the quest arrow will lead you into a bear cave where you will find a very cute bear cub.

when you have.. talked? with it the quest arrow points back to the quest man, but sience the bear was so cute I decided to keep it :P

I hacked and whaked around with the cub keeping a safe distance from fight, then suddenly he actuly leveld up! I got a little info window where I was told my cub had evolved into a more agressive and stronger bear, (and he grew! :Just_Cuz_21: )

now he suddenly ran around and killed with me!

I were shocked, lol. I he did awful aggros but I always kept clicking spacebar when his health was love to keep him alive, and once I didnt notice his health was and I saw his health bar was like.. empty it suddenly got full again... immortal? I only got to test it once as we both got some wierd crash thingy and Barry (as I named him) and didnt get to try it again.

I belive he can level up again and get bigger  im so gonna find out

Actually I have him

I believe he was tied to my quest, so I got to keep him. He is a really nice companion, as he draws a lot of incoming firepower without dieing (I need to learn to spell this word) and deals some damage himself :Just_Cuz_21:

If it's the same bear I'm thinking about, he sticks around for a while then finally he wanders off and you lose him once your quest is complete.

Even in real-life, this has happened to all the bears I've been friends with - Ha ha! :Just_Cuz_21:

Ahhh, Erling, the Immortal NPC of Sacred fame...this time incarnated as a bear! There's actually a build/guide with all the immortal NPC's in the original Sacred done here.

Possible with Sacred 2?

We'll have to see and find out ^^

Good question. In Sacred, all kills made by NPC's gave no experience to main toon right? If that's the case here, for glass cannon builds, the bear could still draw damage away...unless Sacred 2 is way smarter than the original game.

I know that Maryann, for the quest Orpheus, is also immortal. Except she is a coward hireling (runs from enemies, does not fight)...she seems to run more from the character and INTO enemies, but seeing she is immortal, it is not a big issue.

From what I've seen hireling AI has much left wanting in Sacred 2. They either run from you to get themselves killed, or run into enemies on purpose.

Exceptions that matter: Hero hirelings

1. Fire Demon (High Elf). Has decent damage...but misses his fireball often. Decent HP, but does not fight. Dies rather easily. Gives about +10% damage to Arrant Pyromancer damage of the High Elf.

2. Moribund Animus (Dryad). Has decent damage as well. Does not rely on fireballs or any type of attacks, attacks normally. Almost unkillable at higher level. Damage is significant (enough to kill any non-champion fast, champion decently fast).

3. Nether Allegiance (Shadow Warrior). 2 to 4 skeletal warriors fight at his side. Night unkillable, their attack strength is low however.

Moribund Animus and Nether Allegiance both have a combat art mod, that allows hirelings to have an armor rating. This armor covers all 5 types of damage (and the armor amount is the total of all 5). Their totals are VERY high for their level. A Seraphim of equal level, with very good armor, Armor Lore 20 and other Armor+% bonuses, will have significantly less armor than them. And SHE is hard to kill.

I saw a friend (Shadow Warrior) play with his skeletons, them tanking the main quest bosses. Sometimes the boss would go for him and ignore them. But even if the boss went for them, they never died. This also goes for Nameless Guardian.

At level 48, his skeletons had 9800 armor each (1960 of each type). My Seraphim level 47, in comparison, only had 1600 armor total (amongst which 700 physical).

The bear doesn't give you experience for the kills :)

And he sometimes is a very unuseful companion, he spent a large portion of Xanthiar fight looking in another direction... I think I can still return him (the girl has the ! above her head), but I guess I'll keep him for a while longer.

I've picked up the bear and had a great time with him. I got him at about level 3 and I am currently at level 22. He is hanging out with my DW seraphim. He grew up at about level 10 for me. He is still immortal for me. Sometimes he is great, he draws fire away from me and is a good back up herder when I am rounding up mobs for a nova blast. He also occupies mobs/bosses while I take pop shots with my BFG at a safe distance. He does get a bit over zealous sometimes. I wish he would stay nearer to me, he will run and seek out the nearest enemy even if it is a screens length away. It makes it hard to manage my inventory when he is off starting fights all the time. Second problem is when I am in a big fight and my health is low, I have hit the space bar and healed him instead of me. I haven’t died because of it, but it is something to remember when fighting champs or bosses. It was great to watch the Grinch dragon plug away at him uselessly while I sliced it up from behind. So, in short Pooh (that’s what I named him) is a great side kick to have around. Right now I am trying to see if I can get him to level or grow some more. Updates to follow.

Heya,

go to the first town you come by in campaign mode. (Sloeford)

Walk up to the bridge.... you need to go that way anywayz. Before you reach the bridge, there is a little girl on the left, with a question mark. Take her quest, follow it up to the cave, slightly up and to the right. Kill mother bear, but don't return the little guy and you're set!

Ok, did the little girls quest, got the bear cub.

He runs from everything.

I'm told that there is actually a quest to feed the bear, in which this quest is opened.

In that particular quest, the bear will hang out / fight with you until you complete the quest.

Just wish I could find it.

Seems like he could be a neat companion for a bit.

Feed the bear is a different quest. Don't go back to the little girl until you've been to dragonmaw pass. There, he grows and starts to fight. If you go to her first, she will take the "cute" cub. Just be aware, you get zero xp for his kills.

Hey there :) ,

Does anyone know if this npc-leveling also works with Hansi from the Blind Guardian quest?

He does magician-skills (Frostflare and Chainlightning)which might become quite effective if he would be able to level up a bit like the bear...

Am I right in thinking that you don't get XP from any companion who manages to kill anything? :)

Any npc companion yes. Summons and charmed ones will give you xp though. The bears won't neither will Hansi and I imagine any other npc that joins you for a quest wont either.

With the Seraphim you get an orc to fight at your side and that guy doesn't die at all. First you need to start the seraphim's quest (it starts with childrens & demons in sloeford)

Near the end of the questline and when you're in Nor Plat you met some orc who accompany you to go to the seraphim island to stop the dark seraphim (which is going to sophia)

The orc does pretty do some damage and it seems immortal.
