Dobri 55
Battle stance means evasion + reflection. At higher levels, it can provide over 40% close combat reflect. That's 40% of the enemy successful attacks reflected. Also keep in mind that with each difficulty, the damage you take will increase. Things may look easy in silver and gold, but platinum and niobium are a completely different story. Besides, you can always play with 1 buff only - Battle stance. Cleansing is not mandatory, and you can alternate between the 2 easily, depending on the situation. Link to comment

Is Revered technology focus (ie, Warding energy buff), Plus warding energy lore better than Battle Stance, hence Exalted Warrior Focus? I can't justify using only BattleStance from the warrior tree, where as I would use pretty much all combat arts provided by the revered technology tree. Warding energy > Battle stance:) Link to comment
Dobri 55
Warding Energy provides projectile and spell reflection. You can also opt to mod it for block + spell reflection. However, this means you are taking 2 skill picks (RTFocus and Warding Lore) to do the defensive work rather than 1, which is EWFocus. However, if I am to play a pure caster, I would probably go for Revered and Celestial aspects altogether, just to diversify the damage. A skill setup of this sort: Defense: Armor Lore Toughness Warding Energy Lore Offense: RT Lore RT Focus Celestial Lore Celestial focus Concentration/Shield Lore (depends on how many buffs do you like to use) Combat Discipline Ancient Magic should do. The big shield can offset the lack of constitution, but you should add a point of vitality every now and again, just in case. Armor + Toughness + Some HP + WE buff is all you need to survive. So far the all-out-attack seraphim is managing with this setup in platinum without any problems (even without toughness). Maybe you should analyze and post what kind of builds have you come up with for the char at this point - with either WE buff and/or BS buff. You should also analyze your skill setup till mastery. For example, if you go for RTFocus and Warding Lore as your defense, you must master both by level 75, or you will find your seraphim quite squishy. You will need the big shield no matter what. You should also keep in mind that the EW aspect provides a nice mini-buff - Dashing Alacrity that can also reduce regeneration times and improve cast speed. That alone is a lot.
