Good place to find set pieces in Sacred 2?

Recommended Posts

I can't search for info on set pieces in the threads, something about one of the words being too few letters so I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there was such a place that would have a better chance to drop set pieces? Is there a recommended amount of enhanced perception to help in my quest to find set pieces? There was a period where I found 3 of one set and 2 of another but things have been dry lately. I don't remember where I was or what I was wearing. I am playing a shadow warrior at the moment level 40 if that matters. Thanks.

Hey there bhall. Good question. That's something we're all after. ^^ Personally I've had the greatest success in finding set items by farming mini bosses. They seem almost built for that very opportunity. At least to my experience. What I would suggest you try is to choose a mini boss you are able to kill the easiest. Activate the nearest Monolith to it and then farm it repeatedly on an empty server. The White Griffon-> is by far the most convenient because it is so close to a Monolith, (The map you will see from this link needs to be updated and does not show the closest Monolith to the Griffon. You will see the closest Monolith along the path to the Griffon in game). It's a tricky boss since it can DeBuff you but if you can find a strategy that works well against the Griffon then I would recommend farming the Griffon. The next best I would have to say is the Raging Boar->. He doesn't have a very close Monolith but I do find the Boar fairly predictable. He seems to hit hard and have a melee type buff. I imagine simply having reflect melee mods and a high attack rate could be good enough. His armor is simplistic since it is all Physical so choose your elemental damage freely and go farm him. :D

As for searching the forum the word you search for must be 4 letters or more. A search criteria of 3 letters would be a bit too much work for our server. The function is there to prevent search terms like "the" which would result in pretty much every post on this forum since day 1.

P.s.

What you could search for is "sets"

Over the last 4 months or so I have seen many discussions about this and with the exception of Christmas Island where you have a complete set guarenteed

there does not seem to me to be any one place/monster/boss that produces a notable increased number of set pieces....it appears to be random to me.

Orrr You oculd listen to Schott as he knows waaaaaaaaaay more than I do Srsly!! :D

I get the most set and unique drops in Grunwald............far more than any other place in the game. Maybe it's just dumb luck but every time I go there it seems like I get a set item.

/cheers

It's all dependent on the danger class of the monster you are fighting. If its danger class is too low, it will never drop set items.

... Sigh, I really should go ahead and put together that list of possible drops for each monster.

lol, yes hurry! The people are waiting Cthulhu. :P

Cthulhu makes a very good point. If your target has a white circle around it then it will drop crap. Orange to Red circles are ideal. Champions in general grant a higher chance in that they can drop more items per kill. Thus a greater chance something nice will drop. Areas that are heavily populated with Champions should give nice drops provided you can kill them well. Large number of kills over time will naturally provide best results so make sure your damage is tip top and optimized for the area you choose to fight in. And one other factor would be kill speed. You can take 30 minutes to kill a boss if you like but the drops you get won't be great. At least that's what I've seen so far.

Also take note that most of the monsters only drop a certain range of items. Like Rats for example... very limited possibilities (I think they're limited to gold, potions and meat trophies). The last boss on the other hand... pretty much any item in the game can be dropped by him (with the exception of a few legendary/unique weapons and the Christmas island exclusive stuff).

Geeze Schot, I thought you knew this stuff... :)

Oh gosh Cthulhu. Sorry to make you sad. I'm aware of it but neglected to mention that other extreme. There's just so many things to say and not enough time, or it didn't occur to me. You know how it is. The first post in a topic we add a bit of info. Then later we remember a bit more and add it in another post.

That said don't look to me for all things Sacred 2. I'm learning too. ^^

I"m with the others here, bhall238, in agreeing that there's really no geographical area that will be better than any others unless it has monsters spawning with enough champs to perhaps raise our chances a bit. I know that in Sacred , we'd all do the orc cave over and over again because it had such a high concentration of Orc Champs in those little corners. The drops were fantastic, and I'm always looking for areas that can kind of come close to that in Sacred 2. I've always thought it was always related to the specific enemies we battled rather than any particular area we tried to farm.

It's a pleasure seeing you here, as well, bhall238

Welcome to the forum.

:P

gogo

p.s. lol, Cthulhu... schot does know a lot of this stuff ::) I've always thought the trick to working successfully with communities and posts especially in topics like this is to moderate with art that allows all of us to contribute, add to the original topic's vector of discovery and most importantly have fun. Balance, balance, balance! :P

hey .. I'm kinda noob but I have a question... how can I farm mini bosses in single player...? do they have respawn time or something ? because if I exit and then start the game again the boss isnt respawned...

The Forest Guardian may respawn, I think I've seen mention of that (but haven't verified for myself). I don't think the other bosses respawn.

But what you can do is start a "multiplayer" game. Choose "Multiplayer LAN," select the character you want to play, then Enter Lobby. Create a game (I usually do Free Play just to start on Start Island) then go find the mini-boss you want to kill. You can repeat this as often as you like, the game state isn't saved (but your character is saved, so any gold, experience, or loot you get will remain). For the record, the Start Island has a cave with a bunch of portals that will allow you to go to a lot of different areas -- so you can get pretty close to a lot of bosses.

Note that the "multiplayer" in this instance isn't necessarily multiplayer at all. It's being hosted on your local computer, so you won't have things like lag, and no one will be able to join your game unless they're on your local network (most people aren't on a LAN at all).

It may be of sevral reasons...

1: The previous patches delivered bad bad bad bad bad ultrabad set drop rates.

2:You're using a Area of Effect spell constantly, which means you'll get worse drops because your killrate is at such a high level (yeah, this game is smart :))

Yeah, I've noticed this too.

Interesting...

the rarer set drops for fast killers and Area of Effect is because it shouldent be possible for some classes to ''farm'' more sets than the other.. *misses dwarf from sacred UW*

the quest in orc lands where you have to kill.. like 12 big kobold ogre giants thingy.. those with big shields :P the champion verson of those in that quest drops sets rather often for me. And in the TG room (where its a hole in the floor with a bridge over) I err.. managed to ''farm'' set items with my SW a (not in huge numbers or anything) when killing all there, going in one of the 2 caves for a while, then go out again and repeat. The TG champions and those huge t energy beetles drop em often for me :) but that place requires alot of armor and defense.. and HP lol

Would suggest that with a decent MF/SB, probably the desert area around the Badawi portal may be the best area for champions. Though some of the Orc areas and the area around the Wargfels portal also seem to have a nice number of champions.

I recently realized that Enhanced Perception is the key, at least for me. Before making a finder TG I used to find set\rares only sometimes. Now, with high enhanced perception (more than character level), I find set\rares everywhere....rats, kobolds, animals are dropping. More chances are for mini boss and champions. The desert area with a lot of champions is ideal. I tried a lot of Grunwald runs because a lot of people say it's a good place, but I never found anithing useful.

Are you sure that you have had rats drop sets? I didn't think that was possible.

The best way to find sets does seem to be mini bosses. The boar boss usually drops a set every other kill.

Well, I found my first set piece  from the chest behind the first boss. I about cried I was so happy lol. I'm thinking about doing a mp game to rush to the first boss over and over again to see if Ifind any others lol. I'd kill the mini bosses, but I have yet to patch the game an from what I read they were added with the patch. Duel wield seraphim for the win!

Gratz Kanafire! :P It's a shame you can't get that patch. So many mini bosses to farm. ^^

Perhaps this is just me being overly dependent upon the survival bonus/map exploration induced "chance to find valuables", but for some reason, I've noticed that the mini-set items don't really start dropping until you have about 40%+ of the map explored. This seems regardless of whether or not I actually have on any chance to find valuables gear.

I hope it's just bad luck.
