Orpheus

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

I have a question about completing the Orpheus quest.

I have already rescued the zombie lover and now have him and the girl following me everywhere.

How or what do I need to do to get rid of them?

Same thing for the fallen soldier, he just gets in the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done this quest in ages but iirc just re-enter the cave that you fought Orpheus in. It should trigger final part. You may have to enter/exit once or twice and make sure that quest is the active one in logbook. Not sure on the fallen solider one.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and report back.

I finished Orpheus too. As I recall I had some difficulty completing. I think maybe it was just walk to the right place outside to trigger him.

I have had a problem with the Orpheus quest too but something different.

I was doing a quest to escort someone to the capital city, it was a long journey and after several attempts decided to just run there. Along the way the guy who I was supposed to escort got left behind but still managed to complete the quest. I then started the Orpheus quest to escort the girl to the cave. She didn't come along either but still managed to talk to Orpheus and he then told me to kill both the girl and guy. I could kill the guy fine because he was already there and the quest marker was back outside. I went outside and then the quest was completed and I got no reward or experience. Basically what I'd like to know is did I miss anything? Was there another quest relating to this afterwards or does it stop once you kill the couple? I managed to sort out the glitch by switching off so luckily have had no probems with this again.

Cheers for reading anyway and hope I've managed to explain it properly. I tried to look at the quest on Sacred Wiki but it said I had to be a Sacred member? Strange because I can log in no probs at all! Do I need to do something specific to access some parts of the website? I did read somewhere you need to ask permission but who or where I have no idea!

No permissions are needed to view the wiki.

The quest chain ends after either killing Orpheus and walking outside (Light Campaign) or killing the couple (Dark Campaign)

Hi Slayer89 thanks for the info, glad to see I didn't really miss anything. When I went onto the Sacredwiki site I can look at anything apart from the Orpheus quest, it is red and when I click on it, it says I need to be a member and thats even when I am logged in. Do certain parts of the wiki site you need more permissions? Check it out for yourself if you want to see what I mean.

Cheers again

Appears that it hasnt been created yet. That would explain why it says you need to be a member even when logged in, because not everyone has permissions to edit the wiki.

When I go to that quest it wants me to create a page for it, since I have the permission to edit the wiki.

Though I remember Zeno writing a guide for it, I'll look into it some more.

Just Did This Quest And I Was A little Confused......

This Char Is A Light Side Temple Guardian....And I Still Had To Kill Mary Ann And Her Husband?

The same thing happened to me. I got a little confused, I even checked my stats to see if I was doing a light campaign (I was). Weird. :woot:

I was doing Light Campaing aswell, and after I reached Orpheus he had question mark over his head. I talked to him and then refused to help him to kill couple, after that Orpheus was hostile.

When you get to the part of quest where you talk to orpheus you can swap sides, so depending on whether you accept or decline here, you get a different result. So far, I have always managed to swap to the side where I rescue them. I guess I am just not evil enough.

And don't try to keep her alive, she never dies before you talk to her husband, she just heals up to full if ever near death. After you have both, they are both pretty safe unless you swap to killing both, but that is your fault

Just to clear up the confusion about this quest (yes, I'll be doing a wiki page on it in the next few days), Orpheus is actually a chain quest with two possible endings (neither of which requires you to have a particular alignment character). The first part of the quest involves taking the woman into the catacombs and finding her husband. Then you have to seek out Orpheus (back off his lunch break!) and talk to him.

At this point Orpheus will say something about how he can't allow the husband to leave, but could allow them to be reunited in death - this dialogue has Accept and Decline buttons on it. If you pick In Orpheus' Service then you have to kill the woman and her husband - this is the quest Orpheus Himself. If you pick Destroying Orpheus then you have to kill Orpheus - this is the quest Changing Sides. After you complete Changing Sides you have to lead the woman and her husband out of the catacombs and then talk to the husband to finish the quest.

I've not tried this, but this quest may have a similar 'bug' to the Captain Bloodtongue chain, where you have to actually approach the exit of the dungeon you're in before the next stage of the quest (talk to someone) updates. You can accidentally fall foul of this if you teleport out of the dungeon rather than running out.

I must have blown through Orpheus' dialog (or was confused). I did not think I had an opportunity to refuse and thus had to kill the lovers. Which I though was odd since I was in the light campaign.

Had a similar issue with the sick hermit.

The only problem I experienced with this quest was - more or less - just "cosmetic". After I had killed Orpheus and lead Mary Ann and her lover outside, I talked to Logamir and the log showed the quest as finished (with the green check mark). But the grey "shield marker", the one associated with escorts, still sticked on the map. I am not sure if it was for mary Ann or Logamir. Anyway, both Mary Ann and Logamir just stood outside, and I decided to return to the crypt to loot the graves. After that, when I returned to surface, she and her lover wandered off and the "shield marker" disappeared...

[EDIT.] By the way, I just rode past Orpheus' crypt a couple of days ago - and what did I see? Logamir. Standing outside the crypt entrance. I guess Mary Ann dumped him, and the poor guy just hadn't anywhere else to go. :) Too bad Orpheus had left the building. Permanently.

No.. When you go inside and rescue the zombie boyfriend, you then need to make your way to Orpheus' lair and have a chat with the bugger. When you talk to him, there are two options - join Orpheus or Kill Orpheus. If you choose the former, yes, the object of the quest is to eliminate both Mary Ann and the zombie boy toy. If you choose to decline Orpheus' offer, then you have to kill Orpheus and then make your way outside of the cave.

As soon as you exit, the zombie boyfriend transforms to a normal living elf dude. Talk to him and he will thank you for saving him and give you points.
