I have many questions about sacred 2

Recommended Posts

hey all, thanks for opening my topic, I am buying the game soon and have quite a few questions about it. I have plenty of rpg and also (unrelated) mmo experience, but none with sacred 1 or 2. ive been looking into it but from reading other posts I can't answer my own questions.

first - self healing - obviously anyone can use a health pot, but can any classes use healing spells?

does it depend on your diety? is there a long cool down

second - how balanced is pvp? how many people can fight in one room, is there any sort of team based pvp?

Third topic is game length, about how long is the game? once I start it off in silver difficulty, and I get to "point A" and have a high enough level for gold difficulty, will I still be at "point A" to continue there?

Topic 4 - Is there like... "pvp in HC" mode? whats the inncentive besides it being more dangerous because you can die, can players kill you is what I'm getting at.

5 - I realise the classes in sacred 2 are very unique, which is great, but if you had to compare them to classes from other games such as guild wars, wow, or anything, what would they be? I read a funny topic about it on here, but I wanna know about skill similarities.

6- as far as classes go, in most games there are classes that are easy to use and start out with at the beginning, but arent very rewarding in the end for pvp and stuff..then there are classes that are hard at the start, and are very rewarding in the long run, which charactors fall under the two categories.

Okay, sorry for the barrage of questions, any help would be great, can't wait to join up on what looks like an awesome game! thanks!

Well:

1: The Seraphim has a heal spell, the Dryad has a life regeneration spell, the High Elf has a life regeneration buff and the Temple Guardian has an extremely sucky Area of Effect heal spell. Beyond that the Constitution skill gives excellent life regen when taken to mastery (75 points invested).

2: I don't know, but my hunch tells me this ain't no Guild Wars. The characters are clearly designed for a PvM game (despite that weird Pacifism skill) and given the way the game is designed I would suspect that duelling would be even more boring than it was in Diablo 2.

3: I honestly don't understand your question, but, well, if you plan to do all the side-quests and stuff there are quite a few playing hours in this game.

4: I don't know. Don't play on-line.

5 and 6:

Well, it makes more sense to compare the Sacred series to the likes of Diablo 2 than it does comparing them to WoW or Guild Wars. The characters are designed to be self-reliant and one of the major gripes about the game is that team-play is pretty pointless.

All characters got three aspects (sort of comparable to Diablo 2 skill trees) and specialising in different aspects can make two characters of the same class completely different.

The Seraphim is a remarkably multi-faceted character that can excel at both melee, ranged and spell-casting combat. Beyond that she can be made into a rather sturdy tank due to a couple of excellent buffs. She is one of the two characters who can get a force shield. She is generally a quite newbie-friendly character.

The Shadow Warrior is a huge tanky tank that has a couple of ridiculously good buffs, but if you want something different his third aspect can turn him into a necromancer with a small army of minions. He also has an invisibility spell which can be quite exploitable with ranged weapons. The Shadow Warrior is probably the most newbie friendly character.

The High Elf is your usual fragile but powerful Blaster-Caster a la the Diablo 2 Sorceress. She even has a single weapon-based skill for those who want to be different and a couple of defensive buffs.

The Dryad is the archery-specialist (though this doesn't prevent her from kickin butt in close combat if that is what you want) with an emphasis on attack speed. You can also turn her into a scary Voodoo-witch that curses people, spread plagues and animates ghosts out of the shrunken heads of her enemies.

The Inquisitor is even more of a glass cannon with no means to make himself sturdier, but has several means to prevent the enemy targeting him, such as turning the enemy on each-other, throwing them around via Dark Jedi tricks, or even making clones of himself to take the damage. Weirdly enough he is also a potential close-combat beast, albeit an extremely fragile one. Perhaps you will be better off going ranged with some of those nifty energy weapons. While many has the Temple Guardian tagged as the least newbie friendly class I would say the Inquisitor is worse in this regard. Most of his spells require finesse to master, but once you got the hang of him he is probably the funniest character to play.

The Temple Guardian has a lot of quirky "features" that seems neat, but aren't all that practical. Only his melee-aspect can be said to be strong, unfortunately. His coolest aspect concept-wise (the Lost Fusion arm-cannon aspect) is severely underpowered at the moment. He can however become an almost impenetrable tank with the right buffs with the right modifiers, deflecting most of the damage and absorbing the rest with his energy shield.

-> The game is as long as you make it :D If you play Single player, you must play through the entire campaign. In online play, you only need to get to a specific level in order to advance to the next difficulty. This means you may be herding and mass killing kobolds from level 1 to level 200 and still "complete" (like reach maximum level) the game.

Topic 4 - Is there like... "pvp in HC" mode? whats the inncentive besides it being more dangerous because you can die, can players kill you is what I'm getting at.

-> For all I know, there is. However, if you die, your HC toon doesn't die and doesn't lose his survival bonus. It was a nice gig - people tried PvP-ing to lose SB, but that didn't happen. Ascaron seems to have though about this :)

Hi Coercion, and welcome to DarkMatters.

It looks like you're very much interested in PVP. Sacred is unlike GW or WoW in the sense that the game is open ended. There are few absolutes here in the game, which makes it difficult to balance it's pve for pvp. Guildwars toon could be used interchangeably with pvp, and so all Combat Arts were balanced, and therefore no surprises.

Sacred 2 is a Sandbox...almost ultimate creativity via builds, mods, skills, attributes and items (specially items ). This is why the pvp is so hard to make feel "fair"

Probably the best take on this I've seen was a player who had a clan who was running pvp for only level ones and/or I think fives. This way it put a cap on too much creativity and also by that level limit inspired creativity and there were actually a few great pvp games he had in sacred of which he made movies.

Mass killer, Dryad

Party Support, Temple Guardian. I love playing with them as I usually have Glass Cannon builds going...the TG is build to suck up damage while drawing almost all the agro onscreen to him. Always makes it safer to play with them if they're doing their job right :D

A great barrage of questions you've got, hoping to see you online.

HC EU servers rule!

:)
