  1. I'm about to throw Divine Devotion on my Seraphim and give Kybele a whirl.
  2. I'm just going to end up getting the PC Sacred 2 Gold box. $30 isn't too much in my books. I'll just end up playing the characters I didn't make on my PS3. Funny thing though, I saw about 3 used copies of Sacred 2 (1 PS3/2 X360) over at my local Play-n-Trade. For anyone that doesn't know what a PnT is, it's like a gamestop, but they still have older games and systems. Not to mention, membership card holders ($12/year) get buy 1 get 1 half off or 10% off a single used game. Anyhow, I am dying to get a hold of Ice & Blood, but my financial aid checks are 2 months away .
  3. I can hardly answer for the original Sacred, however your observations and perceptions of Sacred2 Ice and Blood are good ones. I am not well versed in Linux, but I am pretty sure that Sacred2 only works in Window XP trough Window 7. there are some emulators out there the adapt a controller to the PC version, however I highly recommend the keyboard and mouse. Being well versed in the Console version and a trained 2-thumber myself the keyboard and mouse seem awkward at first, but now I would not like to go back to the controller. This game is just made for Keyboard and mouse. The reason I ask about Linux is because I can't afford a copy of Win 7 unless I can find it relatively cheap (building a custom mATX system). If I could get Win 7, I would partition my hard drive to dual-boot Win 7 and Linux on the same box, but that's just because I would like to verse myself in Linux. I also heard that many newer games have the ability run under Linux, although Win 7 is obviously a better choice because more games are developed under the Windows Operating System. I wouldn't mind switching to keyboard/mouse controls, as long as it ends up being a good balance between keys and point-n-click. As far as Sacred Gold, I had an opportunity to play it a while ago, but it was on an older computer that couldn't keep the frame rate consistent. I was actually more interested in the character classes on Sacred, as opposed to those in Sacred 2. I personally liked the Vampiress and Battle Mage. Also, the amount of combat art options was overwhelming at first, but there was definitely a good amount of room for some deep character customization as far as playstyle is concerned. I guess my best bet right now would be to see if I have a Windows XP disc somewhere in the house. I just don't feel like Windows 7 is worth spending $200 on. If you are a student you may be able to get windows 7 free or cheaply (I was able to get it free through my university and also had the option of getting it for Aussie $50 which, seing you are in america could be almost half that in us dollars) which would help with your budget. Yeah, my old university gave Windows 7 Professional to me for free, but it was only for use on 1 machine (my laptop). I might just buy a base system from Best Buy or somewhere with the processor and motherboard I want and tweak things on it. At least that would get me Windows 7 Home Premium for no real charge.
  4. Alexander! I'm happy you just mentionned you want to be a part of this community. So many peeps are quick to point out it's buggy nature. But I've always felt that there was a depth about Sacred 2 that nothing else I've ever played can match. Perhaps it's the bugs that helped foster a community spirit that I think is second to none. Your words have fired me for the day, something for me to run with as I finish this long week at work and head off to Ancaria to relax in. Thank you and good luck with Sacred 2 PC We are here to help and eat Poutine with! gogo I feel like the console users are much less organized and tight-knit as a community in comparison to the PC users here on DarkMatters. I've been on this board just north of a month and already learned a lot, put up a guide that got no attention (it was a TG guide and one of my noob postings, enough said), but at least I can continue learning about the game and when I do get around to the PC version, it'll be like visiting Ancaria for the first time again and a new experience in its own right. If I can put Sacred 2 on more than one PC, I might be able to get it on my laptop about two months sooner. I'm not getting my new desktop until September. As far as bugs are concerned, I'm glad I got to the bottom of that console bug. I had noticed it before, but never invested the time into it until I saw that thread about it. Now if only someone could help me with my current ant problem...

  6. I recently found I could pick up a factory sealed box of Sacred 2 Gold for $29.99. However, I will not have a system that can run it efficiently until September (waiting on loan and aid checks). I do have a few questions though about making the move to PC. 1. Can I run Sacred 2 Gold on a Linux based system? 2. Can I use 360 controllers or other gamepads on the PC version? 3. Should I also pick up Sacred Gold (I can get it for about $10)? I'm mainly interested in playing the expansion, since the console versions have no Ice & Blood, much less any patch support, in sight. I really want to get my hands on a Dragon Mage and become more involved as far as the DarkMatters and online Sacred 2 community is concerned. The console version is just beginning to feel limited in comparison to what the PC version offers. Please bear in mind that I am primarily a console gamer and the furthest I have ever dabbled into a PC game was when I got TES: Oblivion (modded everything imaginable and got really invested in it). Thanks in advance for your comments/concerns/opinions.
  7. I'm just glad we finally have clarification on this issue, especially in the case of Soul Reaver. Now I don't need to worry about riding my Spiders of DOOM!
  8. I tested every character and it is indeed a bug that negates buff effects while mounted on an unique. This applies to all personal buffs on all characters (minus Dryad, Inquisitor, and SW companion buffs). All combat values, affects, and field damage still function properly when the corresponding buff has its effect animation vanish while on an unique mount.
  9. Ouch. I heard someone in my family paid Geek Squad $800 to set up their new system and create a system backup disc. The idea of what Geek Squad does is noble, but for what they charge they must be condemned to the pillory. I mean, what they did was just follow the on-screen instructions and then set up the free trial of Norton Antivirus (Oh how I despise thee Norton) that were already pre-installed on the system. Speaking of wiping out hard drives...my laptop is in need of a wipe, but I can't afford an external hard drive to back anything up right now.
  10. It may have just seemed that way because you had no way of knowing whether or not your energy shield was up at any given time. I wouldn't throw out using the Mobiculum entirely, since it does offer a modest bonus to shield regeneration while mounted. Otherwise, I would just make sure you have a decent running suit if you do not wish to use mounts. Edit: I'm working on an Inquisitor, so I'll let you know if I see any issues with Soul Reaver.
  11. Listening to Scar Symmetry. That is, the Scar Symmetry before vocalist Christian Älvestam left the band. and then I'll finish it off with his new band, Solution .45
  12. Regarding the highlighted text: You are looking at your "bonus" overview on the Overview screen to see the stats are gone? That would definitely be a bug, but I will test as well with my Inky tonight. I was always confident the effect was still active, just not displaying correctly on-screen, and I have been playing with buff effects off since then. Maybe try turning off the effects, and see if your stats still disappear... I just tested on my Seraphim (only char with mount atm). I dual and single buffed both Battle Stance and Cleansing Brilliance in the Swamps for testing. When on foot, both buffs show their buff effects perfectly fine. I then mounted up on my Celestial Tiger to find all buff effects did indeed vanish for the duration of being mounted after the first immediate in/out combat cycle, but that is only provided you activate the buffs prior to immediate combat. Otherwise, the effects dissipate after about 10 seconds of idle time mounted. However, even when the buff effects are not visible they DO still show up in the bonus overview as providing their active bonuses. Also, Cleansing Brilliance still damages undead and t-mutations even if no effect animation is present. Therefore, it's probably just a graphical bug that spans across all classes when they mount on their uniques.
  13. I'm fairly certain the bug just negates the buff effects and not the buff itself. The most common instance of the bug for me was when mounting as an Inquisitor with Soul Reaver on. The buff effect appears for the first in/out combat cycle, then vanishes altogether while mounted. I'll give it a quick test and post my findings.
  14. How I loathe you Sociology! At 18 years old, I had to write about the societal implications of marriage, infertility, and having a child later in one's life in the United States . I'm afraid my college studies are taking me far beyond my practical comprehension of the world around me. Also, I'm extremely tired because it's 2 AM in the morning. I'm going to need a good dark chocolate mocha when I wake up, especially after that failed attempt at grasping the complexity of marriage+or-child.
  15. Are you sure about those max levels? It "should" be 1-60 for Bronze, 1-100 for Silver & 60-140 for Gold. The manual for PS3 says 200 for all difficulties, but I'll change it to reflect what's in SacredWiki. I reached for my manual because it was late and I could barely read the computer screen haha.
