  1. Greetings fellow fans, I read the section in the wiki that relates to the diminishing returns for deathblow augmented rings, amulets and armor. I have a HE pyromaniac shopper that spent a few hours hunting for death blow rings and armor and I managed to pick up four rings and one bracer that combined, should give around 120% deathblow. However, when I look at the stats for the HE, the bonus section only shows a combined deathblow level of 55%. This is lower than the number provided in the article for death blow diminishing returns and I am wondering if anyone knows what is the missing factor that reduces the combined effectiveness of the 'buff'? I also wonder if the effectiveness changes as a function of the character level or character type? Thanks in advance for the help......
  2. My experience with Bargaining shows that you need to invest a lot of time and effort to make it pay back real dividends. I play on a PS3 and one of the major differences between the console version and the PC version is that the console game limits the user to equipping 6 relics. The PC version lets the user equip 12 relics. As a consequence to this limitation, the boost to the bargaining skill that can be achieved by equipping relics with +X to bargaining will limit you in so far as what is the possible ratio between your char level and the bargaining level. I have a HE who was at a character level of 41, had 41 hard points in bargaining and had a total bargaining skill of 102 (with the extra 61 soft points coming from items providing +general skill points and relics providing bonuses to bargaining). Even at this bargaining level, I found that I would still see 0 star items (relatively few) with the rest of the items being mostly 1 star and VERY few items being two star. As such, you need to keep on shopping (until you drop ) by having the vendors item list 'resetting' (for example by entering a nearby cave or cellar etc) until the random factors align to provide better quality wares from the vendor. It will still cost you an arm and a leg for the items (plus the cost associated with blacksmithing these items into your armor and weapons) but as already stated, money should be no issue and you do need to spend it on something. Good luck and happy hunting
  3. Hello Furian67, many thanks to you and everyone else for the help and your interest. I play offline on the PS3 so perhaps the bug only affects instances that are unpatched as proposed by ryanrocker1217. I guess that the PS3 version that still has many issues affecting the game and is relatively 'unpatched' still has a bug with these potions. Either that, or I am missing something in how to use them....... I will keep my fingers crossed that an additional later patch or upgrade to Sacred 2 for the PS3 will fix this and other issues like the blacksmith bug that still haunts the PS3. Happy hunting....
  4. Hello fellow fans, I have a question about the impact of consuming the "Potion of undead death", because, for the life of me (no pun intended) I do not see that it is functional. It seems no matter how many potions (or when I drink them [e.g. at the start of an encounter, during an encounter or when it dies]) I drink, the 'strike three times and there out' undead just keep on reanimating. Any tips on what I am doing wrong will be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance for the replies....
  5. Hello JBakken, welcome to the forum! Perhaps by selecting a 'boost to the Pyromancer lore', your effective combat art level has increased and your damage level has also increased which is being offset by a slight increase in regen time. It has been along time since I completed the modification of Incandescent skin so I can not truthfully recall if I noticed an increase in regen time. In general, by putting skill points into the 'focus', you increase the maximum skill level that you can attain for your characters level and decrease the regen time. As such, if you equip items that add a bonus to your lore, you should see that your damage level has increased but so has your regen time. Is the increase in regen time ONLY for the ancestral fireball or does it also increase for blazing tempest? Happy hunting.....
  6. After having performed some more research. I discovered that the PC version permits the player to equip up to 12 relics. The console version that I play restricts the player to only have 6 relics active. This is a fairly large impediment to obtaining a high level of soft bargaining points. As an example, if each relic offers +3 bonus to bargaining (which is what I am seeing at my present skill level) then the console player is +18 skill points behind the eight ball I already have some armor pieces with +5 bonus to general skills but I guess that I will have to purchase more general pieces and hope that this will make up the deficit. I just hope that I can obtain enough +general skill pieces in the next 20 levels of silver to justify all of this time spent shopping. I must admit that I spend far to much time scouring the shops for better rings and amulets and I am beginning to wonder if it will pay off in the end (I am saying that I will likely not invest the required time and effort in order to maximize my return). Clearly, some people have more shopping stamina and luck than I do Having started down this road, I will persevere until at least mastery of bargaining to see what benefits this may bring in terms of better quest rewards (is this simply more money or better rings and amulets and weapons?). Thanks everyone for the comments and encouragement
  7. Hello fellow Sacred 2 fans, I have experimented with a HE bargaining 'toon' and presently, she is at a low level (41 and playing through silver). To date, I have on the advice of articles found on this site, kept my bargaining skill commensurate with my level (I have thus pumped 41 valuable skill points into bargaining). I have noticed that vendors do offer more two star items and the +all skill rings and amulets provide some return to offset the loss of the 41 skill points diverted into bargaining. My bargaining skill is at 85 (which implies that I have an additional 44 skill points being added by + all skills and + general skills with 18 points coming from my relics) and I am wondering at what point should I stop pumping the bargaining skill? The majority of the +all skills bonuses that I have managed to locate is 'capped at +2' while the and I am wondering when in silver will I see a higher 'return'? My playing style is 'slow and easy - I enjoy doing all of the side quests and exploring as much of the world as I can ' and as such, I do not anticipate finishing silver before I am at level 65 to 70, so this implies diverting a further 20 to 30 skill points into bargaining before I see 'gold' (I am having a hard time seeing where the extra skill points are going to come from to keep my bargaining skill at least twice my level). Should I expect to see better returns while in silver or do in need to be more patient and wait for gold or platinum or Niob? Thanks in advance for the suggestions.......
  8. Hello pscyobang81, welcome to the forum! looking at your stats, while it is true that they are spread over a very diverse group of skills, I see no obvious reason for your troubles. Clearly, you have spent most of your skill points on Concentration and pyro lore both of which should imply that you have excellent regen times plus substantial damage via ancerstral fireball and blazing tempest. Your meteor shower should also be high enough to see of most bosses (if appropriately modded). As you have observed, we high elves are 'very squishy' and the best mode of operation is 'run and gun', NEVER let yourself get surrounded by the undead or you will quickly see the 'red light flash of your health bar' as you sustain a critical hit from all of them combined I find that for instances of foes getting 'up close and personal' a properly modded magic coup can see you through. Modify magic coup for 'life leach and stray damage' and your sword will tear chuncks out of the foes that 'are in your face' Also remember the 'get out of jail card' in the form of your teleport skill to extricate yourself from serious trouble. What sword are you using and how is it moddifed? I find that 'Boneslicer' works wonders on most foes and the quest should be well within your capabilities. How many runes have you read and how have you distributed your combart art modifications? If you post those attributes, I am sure many of the more seasoned high elves can give you some additional suggestions. Many things can slow you down (using too high a level sword and armour but you have those skills so, once more, no obvious reason for your lack of success). This game has so many options that it is good to experiment with the available skills to determine how you best like to play and also how the game mechanics can be 'turned in your favor'. Having determined your favorite skills and play style, you can easily create a character that is idealy tailored to how you want to play. Welcome aboard and happy hunting.....
  9. Hello Wraithking, I asked a similar question regarding the percentage of the map revealed and the answer that I received was along the lines that the 'top surface' and 'dungeons and caves' each have their own percentiles and consequently, the combined percentage of above and below ground can be greater than 100%. Happy hunting and keep us posted of your progress.
  10. I found out, that the best offense was to continue to wallop him with magic coup. Properly modded with (life leach), magic coup will tear large chunks out of him. Magic coup works with both ranged and melee weapons so depends on how you like to engage (remotely or in his face ) it should work out to your advantage. Happy hunting and do not worry, he will soon fall to your 'charms' as the high elf has been known to say.
  11. Hello FrostElfGuard, many thanks for the quick response and thanks for pointing me to that excellent article on the 'limits of using bargaining skills'. I must admit that the 'hard points' that I have committed is less than one per character level and my combined 'effective level' is less than twice the character level which explains why I still see so few two star items being offered by the vendors in Ancaria. I have been able to obtain may pieces that have +2 all skills (the HE is only at level 25) and I have noticed a few pieces offering +3 to all skills very recently. Consequently, I am more satisfied with the benefits of picking bargaining but I can not help but feel that the items dropped from the monsters are at a lower level if you have elected to use bargaining AND you do not follow the methodology of 1 hard skill point per character level. Granted, this observation is ONLY based on the first 25 levels of character development and as such may be short sighted in the long term.
  12. Hello Folks., I recently started a new High Elf and decided to try out the bargaining skill. I have noticed that I am able to purchase much better rings and amulets but I have also noticed that the majority of the drops that I receive are limited to two stars (very infrequently) and less. I can count on the fingers of one hand how many three star items and have not seen any four or more star items to date. Admittedly, the HE is only at level 25 with a 60% survival bonus and roughly 25% of the map explored. However, my other characters are similar levels and their drops are much higher quality. Has anyone else noticed this or am I simply having a bad luck dry spell. Thanks in advance for your help.....
  13. The Blacksmith skill also allows the use of rings and amulets that normally can only be positioned into 'gold' slots to be set into bronze slots as well. The 'cost' of blacksmithing in town will continually surprise you and keep you out 'farming for gold'. However, gold is not really an issue at higher levels and you have to spend it on something :-) Hope you enjoy the game and happy hunting.....
  14. Since I do NOT at this time play hardcore, I noticed a significant change in my combart art regeneration time whenever I died. I also noticed a marked impact to my 'intelligence and stamina (I only have a high Elf)' I believe that the additional attribute is your survival bonus that affects all of your base attributes.
