  1. So we started this build today. Currently sitting at lvl36 after ~4.5 hours of game play. Not bad... not great either though some of that time was spent moving stuff around between characters to get her the right items. After two levels with Orla's I can say that the pure killing machine that she could turn into is really scary. The time from lvl34 to lvl36 was considerably short. I was in a silver game with 3 other players and was running around outside Porto Vallum(sp?) kicking ass all over the orcs and goblins. So far so good. It'll be interesting how this turns out in another 60 levels or so.
  2. When I got back into playing Sacred after 8-9 months away I started playing Seraphims. They are a class I hadn't really done much with during my initial year+ of playing the game an obscene amount. I've done two up to ~ lvl100: one is a hybrid that uses Orla's and the other is pure magic. If you read elsewhere in this forum about the "funny/stupid deaths" (or whatever) thread the pure magic died because I was dumb... and I'm going to abandon her and start over. The pure ridiculous destructive power of the Orla's alone gave me this idea: why not do a pure magic seraph build that can carry around the Orla's for the massive lightning spawning insanity damage? If this works it will be the best of both worlds. My hybrid is currently level 107 and she is not exactly the best at killing dragons. The pure magic could use a combo move and drop 4 CL bombs, then add a 5th with the normal attack, and step back and watch the dragon fall quite easily. Nice action. The pure magic is a great mob killer but she can't quite jump into the middle of a mob that is 40+ levels higher than her like the Orla's carrying hybrid can (with 35% life steal). Combine the two? Sure! I'm thinking: Magic Lore Heavenly Magic Meditation LH Weapons (to 10 only so you can wield Orlas) Constitution Armor Parrying Trading - or maybe Riding... either way you're going to be riding a horse around for the added HP Dump everything into Mental Regen Magic Lore should be at your level until at least level 50, same with Heavenly Magic because it not only decreases regen time but it increases the speed at which you cast the attacks. Anyone done anything like this? How did it work out? Seems to me like she would be a mob killing, dragon slaying, VoT owning machine. I may start her this weekend. Thoughts?
  3. I nearly always stick to the one level below your ability for runs through the VoT. There are a few exceptions to this rule however. Some of my best VoT slayers are: Dark Elf trapper - Uses Poison Mist and occasionally Bottomless Pit. He's currently level 135 and with testosterone buff going the Poison Mist is doing something along the lines of 34000 damage per second per trap. Bottomless Pit is just under 100,000 damage. This character sees little playing time anymore because it's so obscenely over powered that there are no challenges. Anywhere. Running around in the VoT is child's play as long as you don't get hosed by a pod before you get off a Poison Mist trap or two. Battle Mage - Using Gust of Wind as his primary attack he owns the Vally. Nothing ever hits him with the exception of the guys that can hold you in palce... sorry I forget the name. They are immune to the push back of GoW so they are dangerous in large numbers if you a.) don't have high life leech or b.) have slow regen on Gow. Currently he's sitting at level 120-ish. Seraphim - Longhandled weapon hybrid build that uses Orla's set, RBOL, and the occasional CL bomb. As long as the server doesn't lag too heavily from the Orla's generating insane amounts of lightning damage you are a god in the VoT - oh also assuming you have at least 25% life leech... very important to keep yourself alive during those huge attacks from golems. She's currently at level 90 and doing famously. When she gets some better armor and higher total life she may become my most unstoppable toon in the VoT... she's beginning to sort out that way anyways. By far the most dangerous thing you will encounter in the VoT is the green golems. They hit hard. Real hard. Everything else is much less brutal so if you can hang with fighting 4 or 5 golems at once you should do fine running around in the VoT. If a mob of golems causes you to make a quick and hasty exit perhaps you should try another level down or hang out elsewhere. As another side note I've got several toons that do famously in all other areas of the game but get owned in the VoT. There are definitely certain builds that lend themselves to running around in there. Case in point: my bow Wood Elf is around level 130 right now I believe. She has no problem running around most places in the game in Plat difficulty. Even in Gold difficulty the VoT is a very scary place for her - especially when there are more than 1 or 2 people in the game.
  4. I do not know this for sure so, you know, take it with a grain of salt. I believe it's another bonus provided by high SB. The only time I've ever had it happen was on characters that have really high SB (like 60%+). I also notice that when it happens all the baddies in the area tend to stop attacking you. This gives you a second to hit that health potion the moment you stand back up before being attacked again. edit: I've also noticed that when you fall down there are birds or something flying over your head.
  5. I may get torched for this since it wasn't a HC death... I generally play my SC toons as though they were HC. I like having a high SB because of all the benefits plus I just think playing with reckless abandon is stupid. Anyway. My new Seraph died yesterday for the first time at lvl78 because I fell asleep at the keyboard. Oops. I woke up and saw her on the island and thought, "I don't recall being here"... Sad.
  6. I use this method: get a trade dwar with full eros, and all the greed u can have, and farm some money along with items He's currently level 115 and I've been very lax about picking up/selling items along the way; usually just pick up the blue/green/gold items and leave everything else. Sometimes I don't even bother. At this moment he's got 64 million gold and I've been giving 1 million gold to all my new characters that I've been starting for a while now. If you aggressively picked up and sold stuff you could make insane amounts of money while also finding some neat items along the way with all that greed you've got. I highly recommend this practice.
