  1. So I take it that means there aren't many Tunngle games going on around here? I've been thinking of getting back into the game but yeah, the "single player only" prospect has been getting in the way of my desire to play. Then I noticed people (on the Steam forums) talking about playing it together on platforms like Tunngle and the spark was renewed. I can't help but notice that I don't see much discussion about it around here though. Is Tunngle just generally unstable/slow, or is there some other reason more people don't seem to use it for Sacred 2?
  2. I just got back from my holidays too, and see you've been courted well by our Sacred fans^^ Just wanted to welcome you back to the game and these boards! gogo Thanks gogo, glad to be back . I have to admit, it's been so long since I last played that I was a bit lost when I started playing again. But thanks to all the incredible information on this forum, I've already got my builds figured out again! This is a great place, and I'm glad to see that it's still active .
  3. Randomly hosted, higher level play online is pretty much non-existent. I have friends that I play level 100+ games with every so often, but I've never come across a randomly hosted game post level 100. There is still a decent sized community out there though (with a recent influx since Diablo 3 is coming out and people want something to do until then), you just have to find them (here was a good start, but I'm also active on the GameFAQs boards which brings others in too). I still play as often as I can (my schedule is a bit tight these days). Feel free to add me on the PSN (Mystix123). I should have at least 1 character that I could use to join up with you guys. I also have a headset, so voice chat is an option. Arrg, that's a shame. I was hoping to see some regular activity in the higher levels too, but I guess I can't say I'm that surprised of the reality of it. With D3 coming out, it will most likely thin out even more. This is completely unrelated, but speaking of other ARPGs, there's a fairly interesting one called Path of Exile coming out soon (hopefully) and they're having a public beta stress test this weekend (starting tomorrow). I haven't tried the game yet, so I figured I'd check it out and see how it is. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there in case anyone's interested. Yeah, my schedule has been pretty hectic lately too, but once my friend and I start playing more regularly, maybe we can see about setting something up. Only problem is that the one mic I have is on the verge of death so it likely won't work very well if at all. I was hoping text chat might be an option with the chat system PSN uses (which I've heard can be used in-game, as long as the people are on your friendslist) but I still haven't confirmed if it works. Hope you guys have a great weekend.
  4. Thanks a ton for all the info guys . That was exactly what I was looking for. By the way, any of you still play online (on the PS3) regularly? I was curious to know what the population was like these days. It seems like there's usually always a couple of low level games going, but I have no clue on the higher level activity. My friend and I were thinking of doing some grouping one of these days. It's a real shame that the game doesn't have text chat though =/. Thanks again for the help everyone.
  5. Thanks for the welcome and info Ah ok, that's what I figured as I noticed that one of my inquisitor's moves did in fact recharge more slowly after using an extra rune. I ended up remaking him (he was only 6) because of that. I'm still confused though, about the comment that said console versions had "unlimited rune eating" - do you have any idea what they meant by that? Something about "allskills" was also mentioned in relation to it, but I don't know anything about that either. Thanks again for the help .
  6. Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've been around here (and awhile since I played sacred 2 for that matter) but after a friend got it for the PS3, I decided to pick it up for the console as well. That said, I've been looking around to find information about what some of the key differences are between the PC and console platforms, but aside from the "bug/glitch" thread, I'm still pretty much lost. I'm particularly interested in the "rune eating" on the console versions, because I saw someone mention that console users had an edge based on "unlimited rune eating" and "allskills", which I'm not familiar with. What does that mean exactly? Are we able to use as many runes as we want and somehow negate the negative regen effects? There's probably going to be plenty of other stuff I'm curious about, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head. If any of you know of any gameplay elements that are different on the console version, I'd greatly appreciate the info Thanks in advance, and I'd also like to take a moment to say that I'm really sorry about the PC servers being shut down recently . I just heard about it a couple of days ago. You guys are unlike any other community I've seen for an ARPG, with a passion for the game that rivals even very large mmorpgs, so it's a true shame that they pulled the plug on the closed servers. You're all still able to play on open, for coop I hope? Not that it's much a replacement, of course. Edit: Just wanted to add that I found a page on the wiki listing a lot of the differences between the versions, but I still didn't see anything concerning the runes. I'm also curious about the attack speed being the factor on how fast combos are executed on the console versions. I'm playing a two-handed sword inquisitor (not dual wield like most), so I was wondering - will I be able to reach an attack speed that works well enough for combos, or is it better to just go without using them altogether and just use skills one by one?
  7. Wow, that looks terrific gogo! Awesome job with the red peppers especially Looks like I'm getting chinese tonight... I wonder what they'd say if I asked for ribbons?
  8. Lol, I guess it's better than being completely 'shameless', right? And that's true - it's just great to finally have free camera mode. Trying to dungeon crawl without it was a real pita
  9. Ask and ye shall receive... You've got spam.. Enjoy...! I do not believe these codes will work online - especially on a closed net server. Thanks, really appreciate it wolfie!
  10. Wow, I'm truly in a "hang my head in shame" situation right now lol. I can't believe that it was as simple as disabling automatic zoom curve. I could have sworn the first time I tried it I didn't notice a difference, but I guess I wasn't paying enough attention. Thanks a ton Knuckles and Chattius - I'll make sure to pay more attention to details that are right in front of my face, from now on Feel free to put this as resolved if you want
  11. Just stumbled upon this thread and I'm pretty interested in these codes too . I was wondering though, is it ok to use these on a closed net character? If so, I'd really appreciate the codes if one of you get the chances to send them; it would probably make my low level, bargain-skill free life a lot easier hehe.
  12. Oh I know all about the menu; I've probably fiddled with it over a hundred times already lol . I'm also aware of that thread - I'm actually using Schot's preferred camera settings as my own. I was just curious if it were possible to tweak the settings to get the free-mouselook mode that happened randomly in one of my games. It's the same kind of camera control you get in games like WoW, EQ2, and LOtRO, where you're able to move the camera in every direction using the mouse button. It offers a ton of camera freedom and I'd love to be able to use it in this game too. Edit: Here we go, I think I found the options that I was looking for. In the "options.txt" file, it has this listed in the settings at the top - cam1_rotx_emax = -1.22, cam1_rotx_max = -0.99, cam1_rotx_min = 0.05, I'm just speculating here, but I'm thinking this is for the camera x-axis rotation, but you'll notice there isn't anything there for y-axis (which I assume is why the mouse only rotates the camera horizontally). So I was wondering if we could add the y-axis options ourselves in the "customOptions.txt" and then be able to use the freeform mouselook, that uses both x and y axis, like in most mmorpgs and such? I'd try it myself but I don't want to mess anything up so I was hoping someone who knew a little bit about this kind of stuff could give me some insight. I'm likely completely wrong about this, as I don't know what most of the setting abbreviations mean, so hopefully someone can set me straight . Edit 2: After looking through more of the options, I'm pretty sure I really don't have a clue ; seems like a lot of options have that "rotx" abbreviation, so I'll just stop speculating.
  13. I've recently finally had some time to play the game, and I've dealt with a few pretty substantial bugs so far, mainly affecting the camera. Earlier, when I made a game for a brand new character I had just created, I wasn't able to move the camera at all. None of my arrow keys would respond and neither would the mouse; I ended up having to restart the game completely to get it to work again. Later on though, something strange but very welcoming happened when I made another game - suddenly, my camera was completely in a "free-roaming mouselook" mode. Instead of just being able to move the camera horizontally with the middle mouse (as seems to be the norm in the game) I was able to move the camera everywhere, including up, down, diagonal, you name it. If any of you have played a game like WoW, it's pretty much like that - it was awesome getting that kind of camera freedom again. Sadly though, as soon as I left the game and made another, that terrific free-form camera behavior was gone. It was definitely the best bug I've experienced, especially in a game that has well err, what I'd call lackluster camera controls. That all said, does anyone know if it's possible to add some code to the custom options to add the extra y axis camera rotation? I was doing it in the game because of the bug, so I figure there's got to be a way to get use of it by intentional means. Anyway, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask . Edit: Oh, this is completely un-related but I wanted to ask about this too: what exactly are all of the empty servers on closed net for? Are they open for anyone? My friend and I have been making our own games, but if it helps with lag/performance to play on the other servers, that'd probably be way better. I just wanted to make sure that was ok.
  14. Well, I've got a little more of a grasp on the game than when I started anyway lol. Now I just need some first hand experience. Thanks gogo
  15. Ha, it's funny you mentioned that because after reading numerous guides and scanning over tons of information on the wiki page, "depth" is certainly one of the words that came to mind . I remember reading something that an ex-diablo 2 player said about the game, "Sacred 2 is probably about twice as in-depth as diablo 2." and at first glance, I thought that seemed like a fair assessment, but after researching some of the deeper avenues of the game myself, I now see that that was a serious understatement lol. I think 3 or 4 times as in-depth would be closer to the truth. So far I've managed to pick out 10 skills that I think will work well for the type of inquisitor I'm going for, and aside from being a little unsure about how I should allocate my points in each of them (as well as attributes) I feel pretty good about it. Besides, like you said, there's still a lot I need to learn and I figure that's what the first character is for . In any case, at least I have a tiny grasp on how some of the mechanics work, which is a step up from someone coming into the game without doing any research at all. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out. As for making a character on HC, I'm sorry to say that I don't think I'll ever be venturing down that path. I just can't imagine how frustrating it would be to die (especially because of a latency issue, power outages, or anything of that accidental sort) and lose all the time and work I put into my character. If it worked in a way that instead of actually losing your character, you lost the HC status and bonuses associated with it and became a SC player, but were at least still able to play your character, I'd definitely consider it, but that would take a lot of the "hardcore" aspect out of it I suppose lol. Thanks just the same for the offer though, really . And thanks for the links too; those guides have helped me a ton with planning my own build. Now I just need to put it through the test .
