Rommel, as a purist myself, I haven't tried Enhanced Edition. I like the game as close to how it was when released. It even took me quite a while to get used to the Ice & Blood expansion. If one carefully crafts a character and uses the right gear it works better than any "goodies" added from later improvements, enhancements, and augmentations. That's my opinion.

Rommel, I recommend Purist Fixpack; it is what I'm playing now on Niob level. It removes all but original vanilla items, making sets easier to acquire. Also, mutations set will occasionally drop. The CM Patch already is included in the GOG Sacred 2 Gold Download.

Indeed, even Glacial Thorns with both ice and physical damage was ineffective. However, Raging Nimbus worked immediately, yet had to be directed at each of the four ice pillar clusters individually. Then, unprotected, Narmul, the maleficent, was conquered with the Icy Shards!
