Did I cause all this? Then I'm so sorry. Only Example 4 was kinda missing in the original test... No I currently don't have any more ideas -
An easy character for a returning Sacred 2 player?
SLD replied to Jacek's topic in Sacred 2 General Discussion
Well it starts with the question of what your goals are. It's certainly easiest to just play bronze difficulty. You could play basically everything there and it would turn out ok. If you want the easiest character to go all the way through to niobium it would probably get a bit more complicated... It also matters wether you want to play campaign or not. Campaign is generally a lot more "difficult" as it forces you to go through all kinds of different challenges, while in the multiplayer free game mode you can choose what challenges you wish to take on and which of them you wish to avoid. It may also depend on how grind-willing you are. In version from the cm-patch onward it is technically possible to gain unlimited amounts of skill and attribute points by farming certain quests. It may take a lot of time, but of course would also make the game significantly easier. I'm not sure which version gog gold edition comes with. It is possible that these modern releases already have the community-patch pre installed. Otherwise I would at least suggest the community patch for modern system compatibility and a lot of crash fixes. In case you don't want any community changes the "purist fix pack" is an alternative that does about the same with less gameplay relevant changes. If you want to find out what version your game comes with, it should be visible in the game client once you started it. I guess the modern gog gold edition should be startable without needing patches beforehand. As you want it easy I would not suggest further large mods as the Enhanced Edition, the Addendum. and the Diablo 2 Fallen mod all make significant balance changes that would make the enemies more difficult to deal with, at least at certain stages of the game. The base game should give the most even game difficulty distribution here. But of course it's your choice. I don't think it necessary to change the drop rates at all and it's quite easy to screw up a lot when doing so. I have a brother who messed around with drops enough that it got him legendary health potions. I don't know the details about the drop systems. We certainly have modders here that know more about this to help you achieve your "better" drops. Maybe one of them can answer this question more thoroughly. I hope I helped in telling you what we might need to know to figure out the easiest path for you. As a summary: -Game Version?/Any specific mod you want to play? -Pure campaign? -Exploit grind, yes or no? -Character goals, how far you want to go with it? -And the last one I hadn't askedbefor e: If you're willing to dupe jewellery etc it would of course make the game easier as well as you could always socket the greatest stuff... And for the decision what version/mod to play there might be some helpful info over there: https://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/72692-sacred-2-questions-from-a-newreturning-player-setup-and-installation-cp-ee-pfp-differences-help-a-newcomer-understand-where-to-start/ Edit, as always I'm super slow at writing so this was written before hooyaah's post. He already adresses the loot and some of the version questions. -
Why do I feel so "caught" now?

How is Sacred 2 Weapon Damage Calculated
SLD replied to chattius's topic in Sacred 2 General Discussion
Your example only shows that the dot duration is reset not wether the damage for it is refreshed to the maximum between the two. It might just be the first application remains... You only show a test of large dot prolonged with small dots not the other way around. Ok reread it now, you made a small hit first but didn't let a small dot instance through. It might make a difference... -
Thank you! Finally we know more The source also has far higher "quality" so that it is a lot easier to be certain now. that was actually new information you hadn't spilled before. And with the higher quality source I can now see that as well. Since the point you mentioned it I never questioned the dynamite. What a moo-ving display of talent. Where did you get so many cows? Good idea but I really dislike how moved posts are just threaded in between the existing ones... I guess thats how the forum does it, but it feels so weird... Don't make me take pictures of that guy now, to figure out why he's burning

How is Sacred 2 Weapon Damage Calculated
SLD replied to chattius's topic in Sacred 2 General Discussion
I asked that particular one because my understanding was, that the existing effect would be "replaced" allowing to potentially overwrite the dot effects fast enough that they don't do any damage at all (replacing before first instance). Of course that is as always a totally unconfirmed hunch... I just knew there was potential to find something interesting here We're all happy that you are "planning to continue working" at all. Your detailed tests and brilliant interpretations of their results have already contributed more to the Sacred 2 community than many of us ever could. As always, my questions are there to make sure you know all the options of what can be explored, not to push you into following them. I just happen to abuse your thirst for knowledge with ideas of things that could be known Well, once that skeleton figured out a crucial detail about the armor calculations in Sacred 1. A work of "science" to "behold". But the curse of undeath takes its toll on even the greatest of souls. Just my theory -
So even you guys have no clue what it was meant to say or who created it No! For "fascinating" we already have the emoji. The oversized Lindor emoji that seems to show an eyebrow raising vulcan is just illogical as Lindor is an android not a vulcan. Being illogical is however a very human trait and therefore Lindor, as an android striving to be more human, creating the illogical emoji makes sense The problem with the emojis is that we use them like words, yet for someone who doesn't understand them there is no translator, as these emojis are creative in nature. There is no limit to the number of emojis that can be created and the only one who knows what its supposed to be is the creator. For many emojis it might be easily recognizeable, but with my eyesight I am especially emoji-illiterate. On this forum many emojis are helpfully named after what they are supposed to show. I mean we all get the standard smiley-face and laughter options etc. But for me even the was kinda confusing. Luckily the name tells me what it is. without the "bow" name could have just as well been a praying muslim... But this forum also has emojis that are just named after their creator like . At first the written symbols where absolutely unreadable and I thought it was some asian alphabet... It took me a while to make out the "E=mc²". While on the darkmatters forum the emojis are still in "balance", I fear the future of this emoji-insanity. There are already parts of the internet that have reverted to full hieroglyphs, where entire sentences are just emoji chains. And they're even used metaphorically. Man, every dick on the internet now has an eggplant, so you don't just have to learn the pictures but also the potential other meanings those might have. I feel so old At least it hasn't reached every place of communication yet. Some people still want to understand each other Back to the "diablo" emoji. My investigation here was luckily just some fun as the enoji wasn't actually used for what the animation shows. It wasn't even used intentionally at all. Just an accident. Exactly how the diablo emoji should be used. It's just like you standing there, all evil of the world has been vanquished. You wonder what to do next. And then you realize: That pointy red chrystal on the floor... I always wanted to slam something like that into my skull... Don't take the emoji rant to serious, as long as the |||| remains behind a closed door, the three tristram are happily grazing with or without great eyesight. Cows are partially colourblind anyway

Maybe they do, but electric sheep don't have fresh meat either. The important part is that the butcher remains locked behind the door on cathedral level 2 so that the 3 cows of tristram are safe. -
So you think the last thing in his hand is a stick of dynamite? Maybe. That would make the first move certainly the finger over throat one. Second his hand moves again very quickly, I think he might be pointing towards the one he meant with the first move, like the druid does in diablo 2's character selection screen. Then something very briefly appears in his hand and disappears again, I can't tell what it is, but it's supposedly not what he wanted to conjure up so he shows the emppty hand(palm) towards us as a "wait" sign while shaking his head. He then slams his fist on the ground/shkes it and pops up a stick of dynamite? or two? That would only leave the question what the first thing he manifests in his hand is. To investigate more I've made some screenshots. Sry that the end result seems to have so low quality... Picture 1 shows the finger over throat part. I guess that is what it is supposed to be and it should obviously be the index finger because there are only 3 fingers shown below... His other hand however shows, that he only has 3 fingers and a thumb so it's actually his thumb? I would guess it's an oversigtht by the one who made the emoji, because thumb across the throat makes no sense... Picture 2 shows what I originally thought was pointing at the target of the first move but It looks more like he's covering his eye or slapping himself in the face? Not sure what it's meant to be. It could also be "pointing" with the entire hand. There is another frame before the shown one where the hand is a bit more to the left(our left) so it "moves" from left to right. This picture also shows the 3 fingers one thumb part. Picture 3 happens after the hand is back at his side. The first object appears in his hand and diablo seems quite happy about it. There is no indication of where it came from nor why it disappears immediately. When it's gone diablo no longer looks happy puts his hand up, palm facing us, fingers stretched out, while shaking his head. That's what I interpret as a kind of "no, wait" sign. He then either slams his fist multiple times on the ground or shakes it and then we get to: Picture 4. Here again he has something in his hand and his face looks more mean than happy. Might also be a one sided grin. The thing in his hand looks more like two or more copies of the thing from Picture 3. Sticks of dynamite would make sense here, but I still have no explanation how the contents of Picture 3 ended up in his hand and why they dissappeared... or what the move in Picture 2 is supposed to be... any ideas on those? Also just noticed picture 2 shows something up between his horns, either the first stick of dynamite or his tail? How can one emoji be so complicated?
-
Googled it. That may also be an interpretaion for the hamd movement side-to-side underneath the head. But it wouldn't explain anything about the rest of the hand movements. There's a story here depicted in the diablo emoji. Someone put work into creating that. I just wanna know what it's supposed to show us The forum search function sadly can't properly search for the emoji to track down its source, or at least I couldn't figure out how.

maybe he still has them somewhere. I wish you luck

How is Sacred 2 Weapon Damage Calculated
SLD replied to chattius's topic in Sacred 2 General Discussion
I currently can't come up with any... have you tried %damage increase? might double dip like mitigation... All I can come up with about DOT effects are non item mod things that still need to be tested: -How DOT is affected by impact damage lowered through armor resistances -How DOT works with attribute damage bonuses -How exactly damage lore effects DOTs... and of course what happens when you trigger a new dot while the old one is still running... then there's testing if ignite and open wound perform the same as poison, but I guess that would be the last step... sry if any of those things where already covered in the posts I read yesterday. I didn't reread them now. -
Well that shifts the level expectation a little but not much. So the information is still about accurate... My fault again, originally I was serching this emoji , but didn't see (scrolled ALL the emoji two times and didn't see), also when I choosed the devil he isn't move in that moment and what I've seen it's only a little similarity with the "cool emoji" So you'r defense is: You unleashed the "devil" by accident, because you thought he was "cool"? hmm sadly that still doesn't explain what diablo is doing in that emoji... I have looked at it at 500%zoom. First his hand moves undeneath him from one side to the otherwhile he "jumps"... don't know what it means but I noticed at this part of the animation the Hand is attached to an "arm" that comes out of his nose? Well may just be animation weirdness, after all later the hand is no longer attached to him at all... But then the hand changes shapes and makes all kinds of movements... There's a story in there and I can't figure it out. I wanna know what the devil is up to Edit: Had to fix some stuff as the forum changes "double question mark" into "colon closed bracket"... weird

I don't think it matches those values properly but I can't say for sure as it can be hard to read. Maybe the red ones are readable, but my original tests with the woodelf I didn't even notice extra numbers, so much for reading their values. The standard damage number you do without the set, whatever colour it is(my guess would be yellow) shoots up as you put on the last set piece. Even if that set piece has zero influence on damage otherwise. And as my woodelf test has shown that number increases by around a factor of 2.1 in niob, 1.8 in plat and 1.5 in gold etc. It should be easily visible in Gold adding 50% to your damage. If you get other results, that is interesting and might mean anything from "gladi set is different" to "Level is also somehow factored in"(after all I tested at 216). As I said before, unbury all that is worth bringing back to our attention we might learn something from it after all. Anything you feel is worth discussing should be discussed. If you have a lot of threads to unbury it might be best if you made a thread like "Sethi's necromantic interests" just listing links to those threads with a short description of what to discuss there so you can keep track of those topics and we can basically start discussing them more in sequence instead of in parallel. My problem is just keeping up with all the stuff that happens on this forum in a single day. Reading and writing in all these different threads takes a lot of time. In general I am all for it that you and xeyp stirr up the forums and bring old and new knowledge to emerge. I've learned a lot about Sacred in the past couple weeks(or is it months already? It might be months ). I even had to correct myself multiple times and had to use the search function to find my own posts again because there have been so many...

If you like doing quests so much doing them in every difficulty should be possible. The enemies adjust to your level but for every region in every difficulty setting there are limits to how high they can go. So you might end up still having quests to do while you already outleveled the enemies etc... I don't like quests so for me its if at all definitely the "only in last difficulty" option. But I've also never done that side questing campaign game yet. I just don't like campaigns in general. The "best way" to face this game is the one you enjoy. Some may enjoy finishing all the campaigns in order, some might wish to get their character to maximum level and some just make build after build in search for the most op slaughter machine possible. I may be saving alien lives but I sure do rack up tens of thousands of "victims" in no time Well from my perspective: I would never play bronze difficulty, just because the loot and xp is worse. I would also consider half your level "unusually high" to pass the wall with. At level 32 you could probably be doing the final zones of that campaign already, if you weren't going for side quests at all... But that's my perspective and I usually don't do the campaign at all... In an RPG game I am just like you. Doing it all as perfectly as possible, no matter how much it hurts But that also leaves me rarely committing to a new playthrough of such a game again. In an aRPG im looking for something else though. With "unlimited" content to slaughter doing every quest is no longer necessary to make the "perfect" character. Now suddenly the campaign and quests become a nuisance and though I might consider the completist approach for the last difficulty once I would probably never do it again in my lifetime. Just warning you if you feel like doing what your seraphim has done 4 more times with the same character. If the answer is yes than do the all difficulty approach, if the answer is now the "only the last difficulty" option might be a better choice. Just keep doing what is fun... Now would someone please explain what this emoji is doing? He looks like he's holding some kind of trident/pitchfork in his left hand, but what is he doing with his right hand? There's so much action and I just can't figure it out I barely got the back behind his door and now someone unleashes diablo...

Well, as long as your life goes on there's still gonna be time to continue someday. Your original choice of words just had me worried...

The Related Word Game - 2017!
SLD replied to Hooyaah's topic in Key Largo Beach Resort and General Discussion
Star Trek -> Lindor Of course I had to do this one... I usually skip the related word game, but I guess my "resistence is futile" when you "make it so" much fun to "engage" in. What did you say? "Shut up WeSLDey"? Ok ok, I show myself out the airlock now. -
What's wrong? Why is there so little time left?
-
hmm... how do I get that butcher behind his door again... If its only about the lightsabers like with Sethi22: Characters on the Light campaign side have a much better option for getting lightsabers(at least with CMPatch). It's a quest called "A simple case of nerves" located in entruag. The wiki doesn't have info on it but here is a description: https://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/23099-mandatory-quests/#comment-6994124 The fact that the lightsaber is rewarded for starting the quest not finishing means it can be done without any combat and as its basically located inside a town with a portal, farming it takes like a minute each run... That way is a lot faster and it saves alien lives.

Well first of all I have no clue about quests, but noone more knowledgeable has answered yet... The only Idea I have for fixing quest stuff not spawning is attempting to go far away (like map teleport) and returning. I have no knowledge about the Free for all quests module. I just looked up what it is supposed to do and I don't even understand what its purpose would be. I am however certain that no matter what, there should be a way to enter niobium difficulty and just ignore the bricked platinum campaign. If it is a multiplayer character, reaching lvl 140 should allow you to start niobium campaign multiplayer games anyway. If it is a singleplayer character there is a workaround/bug to enter a campaign you are normally not allowed to chose(yet). The way to do so is entering any multiplayer game on the wished for difficulty setting(with that character) , leaving again and then going back to SP. The chosen difficulty should now read " " (yes a blank field). Just say enter and it will ask you if you want to change difficulty which you accept and boom you're in a SP campaign of that difficulty you chose in that multiplayer game earlier. I do not know if there are any "downsides" to doing this so I suggest backing up the character file before doing so, just in case it doesn't do exactly what you wanted. I have never tried actually progressing a singleplayer character with this "trick". So my solution in both MP and SP cases would require your character to reach lvl 140 to get into a niobium multiplayer game. If you want to skip that requirement you can change this level requirement in "scripts/server/balance.txt" line: "LevelMinForDiff = {1,1,60,100,140},". Those are the entry lvls for bronze/silver/gold/platinum/niobium in that order. just set the "140" to something lower than your character level and you will be able to enter niobium MP games. So, I still hope your platinum campaign problem can be resolved somehow, but if not here's at least a way you can play the niobium campaign without starting a new character from scratch. Sadly I'm not a quest kind of guy so solutions for your platinum campaign problem have to come from someone else. The only other idea I have for that would be lookiing for a character editor to set the quest to "completed", but I have no clue wether an editor with such functionality even exists. I just have great imagination
