My most memorable HC death is a tale of triumph, stupidity and despair. My poor sad little Vampiress was only level 19 when all alone, she went up against the Frost Dragon Twins in the land of the Ice Elves. She struggled greatly, but refused to acknowledge defeat and against all odds she triumphed. Killing first one dragon and then at her last gasp, she defeated the second Ice Dragon. Screaming my triumph to the skies at defeating the twins unaided and with a character still under level 20, I immediatley typed a message to my friends in-game, boasting of my accomplishment. Unfortunately, my pride was my downfall, because while I was still typing my boastful message, a squad of Ice Elves arrived upon the scene and cut down my exhausted character. Screaming, "NO,NO!", I hammered at my space bar, but alas instead of my Vampiress drinking her health potions, I just typed more spaces into my now unwanted message. By the time a got myself sorted out it was too late and my proud Heroine was no more than a smear upon the grassy lawn. The moral is one I shall never forget. Pride comes before the fall, put your character somewhere safe and then modestly mention your achievement.

Dear Santa, This christmas could you get me a Sacred server that does not suffer connection problems and I where I never suffer LAG! ps Please make it available to everyone else too! Yours hopefully, Podgie. pps, I've been a specially good bear this year, honest!

Well gang, I suppose I can show my face in public too. Here is what I look like after I've been playing Sacred for a couple of hours. And that was a good session, you should see me after I get killed!

The quote originally comes from the book "The Wee Free Men" by Terry Pratchett. The wee free men in question are 6 inch high pictsies (as in Scottish Pixies?), with an attitude 6 feet high. A whole nation of Glasgow hardmen who live only to drink, fight and steal. A direct quote from Pratchett is that they are rightly feared, as should be anything that can run up your trouser leg and head-butt you in the $%£&s!

I play HC, frustrating though it is. Goodness knows how many times I have been killed off, but I keep trying. One day I'll get a character strong enough to defend itself properly.

Sorry, I have to admit that I'd never heard of Space4k before. I Googled it for a quick look and although it does look interesting I have never tried anything like it before.

That doesnt sounded quite nice you know. Actually most my old chars 1hitted a niob level 230 Dragon. After a failed experiment (I wanted to show this to Katran but that damned Dragon lasted for 3 hits ) I reconstructed that particular glad to be able to do that. All my toons are raised the hard way, as I can't seem to set up a Lan game to mule and the two attenpts I tried it online have been dismal failures, first time some kind person took everything before I could get my new toon back there, and the second time every one logged out when I did and I lost everything!

There sure are a lot of woosies out there, how can anybody not like cold pizza for breakfast? You've got to be joking right? Come on! Next you'll be telling me that you don't like hot custard on your pickled onions, or even crushed Orio cookies in your Chilli? (Leathal Weapon 2)

To all you softies out there who like your cute, cuddly little nursery rhyme characters like WE, DE, seraphim, etc. I say you're a bunch of tattieboggling woosies! If you want a gritty, bad tempered, dirty-fighting, in your face, melee loving, ball of pure meaness, who can go head-to-groin (What, teeth aren't a weapon?) with anyone, you need look no further that the most versatile character in the game, the Dwarf! He's a shrewd Trader, a Blacksmith without equal, a witty conversationalist (Hey, wha're ye looking at Pal? D'ye wan' a faceful o' danddruff laddy? ). He can use any weapon with equal facility, excels in 2-handed weapons, doesn't bother with mamby-pamby bows when he can use muskets like machine guns , is fantastic at ambushing enemies with traps (try laying a minefield and leading them into it!) and a mob killer without peer (combine Entrench and Flamethrower, instant bar-b-queue! Heh,heh ). He is also the only character in the game who can shoot over obstacles to kill monster that do not even know that he is there (Mortar Grenade) , but where he really comes into his own is unarmed combat! Where most toons can only do a measly 3-4 hits with their Attack CA, the unarmed Dwarf does EIGHT! Even without combat gauntlets (just bare knuckles), I have beaten Ice Dragons to death using a combination of Assault and Entrench, and would any of your pansy toons like to try that? If you use bare knuckles, you can still use a shield as well and it makes your CA animations look brilliant! (try Wrath and watch his breakdance action) He is far better at unarmed than the Glad and is just as good a tank, maybe better! Heroes? He'd eat most of your toons for breakfast ................. and still want his haggis on toast! ________________________________________________________________________________ "Nae King! Nae Quin!
