Ryanrocker 201 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 But every other caster outshines the Dryad with killing power of spells. Try looking up a video of an Acute Mind boosted Tangled Vines taking on a boss. I think Viper has one in his dual wield guide. Kral goes down in literally 2 seconds. I think the Dryad might actually be one of the most overpowered casters IMO

But doesn't every character seem to have a video or story like that? "Watch as I use <super-powered combat art> to kill <mega boss> in a matter of seconds!" Well I'll hold off making authoritative comments about the Dryad's power and just stick with "I'm not enjoying her much." 1

"Watch as I use <super-powered combat art> to kill <mega boss> in a matter of seconds!" Haha yes, that's why I wasn't sure about your comment earlier when you said the Dryad didn't have good casting potential Back to the topic of this build though, essjayehm has it right and probably the most experience with Dryads. Totem can be absolutely deadly and get you all the way through Niob, the problem is that it relies on another CA to function properly (Acute Mind). That's where I'd say some other classes outshine the Dryad; in that they can just be great spell casters right from the start. Try sticking with the build if you can for a few more levels or so and see if you change your mind? Just make sure you're playing a toon you like at the end of the day
Augmint 109 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Gotten up to level 107 in Fallen angel. Doing fine (mastered 4 skills) but foolishly neglected nature focus. Ate about 270 Acute mind runes yet its only around level 75 ;( Still yet to get the elusive Gold scorp head, alot of grinding ahead.
Augmint 109 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Finally got a gold scorpion head! The double hits are awesome. No deathblow but got bonuses to vitality, defence and +10 totem. Also thought for some reason damage x - x rings helped totem but not so. 1

Scorpion head was a game changer for me A player here gave me his beloved very low level one, and all of a sudden fell in love with this class's aspect it's super deep, specially with the pets! gogo
xcessive 55 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 did u guys try the new Glaurungs Head? I wonder how good that one is...
Augmint 109 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Glaurungs Head wasn't on the wiki - found it here http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/21671-new-uniques-and-legendaries-brainstorming/page-10 Good stats - but the armour bonus seems like overkill TBH (Ancient bark is way overpowered as it is) alas I play Fallen Angel - I'll eventually play the CM patch - I figure UnBended won't be out for a couple of years The thing is if the shrunken head behaves like the other yellow dragon heads, then I would probably stick with the Scorp'. The scorpion hits twice, and seems a bit more aggressive. The Minotaur is great but a tad slow in comparison and dragons are fickle in how they attack. They'll wander around then suddenly sprint over - a couple of seconds later than you wanted them too.

Things which have changed for PC-Players with the AddON: Deathblow is no longer for spells. Regeneration per Hit (RpH) is working now. Acute Mind and staff combat got nerved a bit. So one idea could be to do more totems at a slightly lower damage. Adding hunting focus as Oddi asked and use shurikens from inside a dustdevil modified for spell block and radius. The regeneration times of the Totem won't matter much if you socket RpH and you can keep the totem at its malus once you have enough regeneration per hit. The hunter buff is best modified for hit chance. Add a few -enemy chance to evade rings to counter the lack of a weapon skill. The next steps: Without nature lore the nature spells won't do much damage. So modify tangled vine not for damage but for defense purpose: radius and slowing enemy attacks. Kep the regeneration time of tangled vine below 3-4 times RpH. Acute mind is discussable if you modify it for intelligence or not. I have no experience how much intelligence it will give without the lore. And against Bosses the life leech shurikens will add a big amount on damage. So damage boosted Totems are not needed in boss fights. Once your RpH is around 3 Seconds you should be able to keep your buffs at their malus and recharge your totem with a few shuriken hits. I would choose the old-classical regeneration system if you play the AddOn. For head hunting: you need only twisted torment modified for it. Don't modify your ghost pet for head hunting. Make a combination with torment and ravaged impact and your life leech shuriken will recharge the combination, as long ypour twisted torment regenration time is below your RpH. This way you can stack several twisted torments and add their chances to get a head. yoooooooooo heya hiya Chattius! I always wanted to play this build but got distracted by ... other builds This is rare build, I haven't seen it much on videos and therefore I declare it exciting Do you remember much about this build or how it would play out in EE... I saw some or your recommendations earlier... do you have suggestions going forward these days? I forgot about AM... omgod forgot I even had a voodoo build ... and I wanted to kill myself playing it...until good ole Indy13 gave me a Yellow Scorpion Shrunken Head ... game changah! gogo ps and this one one of Chrona's super builds that he wrote up before he left to new game pastures...maybeeeeeeee..he"ll come back
chattius 2,785 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I remember it as a nice bosskiller on high levels. Modify disease for single target high x% lifeleech damage and use totems to go below the trigger point. Each tick of disease robbing 33% health, 3 ticks and every affected boss was gone. Adter the nerf disease was no longer a total overpowered kill every thing 2 screens away any longer. But it never was useless, if used on high levels. 1
gogoblender 3,646 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Thanks Chattius! This build is sooooooooooo complicated...having to understand to use all these indirect CA's to like AM and Twisted to get the shrunks to drop to get that damage...aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...maybe ill do an easy ranged shooting build for starters and then... with more of us on servers, we can try some more exotic builds I may stick to something more comfier for a mp with people here, maybe a ranged blowpipe dryad ...just got to get me feet and then from there see if I can tackle a Voodoo dryad with all it shrunken heads , lots of farming and finally that super pet...woooo ... it was kinda exciting though and made looking good. gogo
