Invulnerable Quest Companions

Other than Tutorial Runemaster, are there any other child companion/escort missions? I'm trying to get 7 "passive" companions for the Reverse Polarity Exploit mod. Once you have 7 escorts, you cannot accept any more escort missions (console version, PC I believe is 5?) BUT, I can still Subjectate more "escots"; funny story: one time, I couldn't count the number of allies that I had, needless to say the screen was mostly "blue" health bars :)

The reason I want the passive, rather than aggro companions, is that the aggro guys can "steal" your experience by landing the killing blow, and that they generally distract the enemies TOO much. Clustering is not so hot with only 2-4 bodies slamming together. The passive dudes just run around, kinda acting like an enemy magnet, drawing all the baddies into the "whirlpool of doom". Although the wiki says the cap on the exploit mod is 25%, I am certian that is not right for console version, based on my last 2 Inquisitors. Yes, it feels like cheating, but I'm making another toon without defensive skills, so I imagine without escorts, I'd be getting one-shotted by mice...

So far, I have:

Tutorial Relics - If you don't rescue the bear until after completing the "thru the wall" campaign quest (to access human lands) then it never grows up and gets aggro.

Hansi - finish the first leg of Blind Guardian quest, and then he'll escort. He does attack but is generally useless AFAIK.

Orpheus - Accept the quest, and the girl is immortal until you talk to her undead hubby.

Tutorial Runemaster - just don't talk to the runemaster to finish quest.

With my last Inky, I got 3 werewolf companions from Lizurath. With the new guy, I went there in Silver, but the mission to get them was not there! They did "some" aggro, but were about as useful as Hansi, mostly standing/walking around aimlessly. Still working on solving that one.

Generally, I can also keep Shirka Alana around as well, but she is a little aggro for my liking, but one isn't too bad.

Tutorial Relics - if you get the baby bear before getting to human lands.

The Tame Bear

Shirka Alana (class quest)

The soldiers mentioned earlier in this thread

Gah! I know there's more, just can't think of them off the top of my head.

In the norther section of the desert city Khorum, are two youths that would like you to take them north to the lake.

I just discovered two little kids in Khorum (at the north end of town) who want to be taken north. Esri and Numa (IIRC, don't bet on it!) a boy and a girl.

I grabbed them as companions to test them out with my Shadow Warrior. They never attacked and were not targeted by opponents.

This is a good topic, I broke it off from another topic as this is so interesting I'm thinking the posts will help others with " The Invulnerables"

That was very cool, many thanks, Gogo!

I forgot about the kid at the enterance to the Garganthopod. I didn't grab him on the weekend (was trying to rush thru Gold) so I'll do that soon. Probably invulnerable as well... (and passive!).

I'm loving exploiting this exploit mod! Level 53 heading for the Gold Guardians :)

I'm visiting everywhere on the map and are currently in the Human realm. There is a quest in Griffenborough you might want to check out. Cannot remember the name of the quest now but you have to escort a guy to a camp, North of Griffenborough. He does not start to kill until he gets to the camp. Sorry cannot remember the name of the quest now. Does anyone else know the name? All I remember is there are two camps to visit and then when you complete them both, he turns on you and you have to kill him. I did this with an Inquisiter on shadow campaign, obviously.

Cheers,

EDIT : I am now in Wargfels and found another hireling who is invunerable. He wants help killing 10 Earth Elementals. Also come across a sheep (!) who is a Mage in disguise who might be invunerable. Check East of Wargfels and you will see a sheep with a quest marker. He runs off and is never attacked by anything.

Found another one last night just before I finally completed the Human realm. You will have to go well out of your way for this one I'm afraid as it is by Grunwald. A guy wants help taking him back to a temple and he did not get hurt at all on the journey even though there were loads of mobs about.

I would imagine there are loads of invunerable companions in this game. I haven't even got to the Orc realm with this toon and I have found loads of them.

Hope this helps you out.

It'll be a while before I get back to this stuff, but keep up the good work, Philr1!

I've found a couple more children escorts, who are invulnerable as well, so whenever a child is your escort, I believe they will be invulnerable always.

EDIT: The companion from Thread Rush quest (starting in Griffinborough) is invulnerable up until you kill all the guys on the hill (and then you kill him in evil campaign). The other best thing about him is he doesn't aggro any baddies, so they don't even attack him!

Hey everyone.

Just a question for someone thats knows this.

I'm looking for the quests that recruit invincible allies that I can grab and keep in my party until I finish their quests.

I have the blind guardian guy so far Does anyone know of anymore? Especially powerful allies.

Thanks in advance.

We had a good discussion about this, I believe it is in the Inquisitor section of the Genereal Discussion forum. Let me track it down and link it.

http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15697 is the one. I think it was split out of another topic we were discussing and that discussion got side-tracked into the invincible companion conversation. Some info is missing.

LOL @ powerful allies. IMO, I don't think the escorts are that good, and most of the invincible ones are children (they don't fight).

Thanks heaps for linking that :)

Hmmm whats the quest with the 3 warewolfs as a companion?

If I remember right I did a quest and got two ogre champions that kept respawning after I reloaded the game with the quest unfinished. The problem was though their level was capped. When I got further in the main quest they would get one hit KO'd by spiders/Rats.

I want to look for skele companions or creatures rather than children. Reason is I like having an army for my SW. Looks cool :)

Lizurath is the town in the SE corner of the swamp. The town is inhabited by werewolves (friendly ones!). IIRC, those companions were pretty wimpy offense-wise.

"Soldiers mentioned earlier in this thread" was the missing info I was thinking of. THose guys come as part of a long chain-quest that starts along the road between Skooks Corner and Atamark's Gate in the Human Area. You need to finish about 6 or 7 parts of the quest before you get a posse of 7 relatively strong human escorts (that are invincible).

If you do the class quest to the point where Shirka is thrown out of the Inquisitor guard and asks you to help recover her equipment she will not aggro but just follow you about if you don't get all her equipment. Also the boy in Sloeford for the Tutorial Runemaster will not aggro but then you won't have a runemaster in Sloeford. The mage at the farm where you talk to Mary's father after rescuing her from the Kobold village will run around attacking but doesn't incur damage until you get him to the ruins.

There is also the Prodigal Son quest north of Sonnewind.

You can get both orpheus and the girl. Kill the undead and take orpheus to the surface but don't let the map update until you are well away from the area of the entrance. Orpheus will never even get an exclamation point above his head unless you take him to the entrance. And he is immortal non-agro plus you get his girlfriend at the same time.

It's not Orpheus you get but Lorimor along with his girlfriend Maryanne. Orpheus is the quest boss you kill.

Yes that too I think I got confused because in the greek myth orpheus is not an undead.

Yeah in the Greek myth he plays so lovely that Hades releases his girlfriend and they both go back to the land of the living. In the game quest the roles are reversed as the girl goes to free the guy instead.

My experiences are:

Orpheus quest characters.

The old guy with a beard who wants to perform a ritual, quest starts East across the bridge from Twainbrook.

All children (example Runemaster's Soni) and animals (examples the bear in the relic tutorial and the kitten from the quest in the corn circles) are invulnerable. Watch out for the "relic" bear you can't return him after you cross into the human Lands and he chances from a baby bear to an adult bear.

All NPCs who travel with you as part of the main quest line (example the orc who turns off the water so you can kill the octopus thingy).

All male characters and adult animals will try to kill for you, they aren't too good at that except for the guy near Twainbrook, the Orpheus guy and the orc who turns off the water. I cannot remember how but it is possible to mod the game so noone dies, noone aggroes and noone tries to kill.

As far as I can tell they do not level up.

I recently tried to collect as many as possible but returned them all after trying to pick up the kid who is lost close to Sonnenwind because there is cap on the max number of NPCs you can take with you, from memory I think the max is six. I was playing a Seraphim called Mary Poppins. My wife usually picks up and keeps the guy from close to Twainbrook as soon as possible in the game and keeps him until late in Act 1, she refuses to even try the relic quest because she thinks killing Mummy Bear is really really nasty!

She may be able to complete the relic quest without killing the momma bear. The main purpose of the quest is to get the teddy bear which is lying on the floor of the cave. After sneaking into the cave and killing the other bears in the lower chamber she can run into the momma bear's chamber while hitting Q to pick up the teddy bear and run out of the cave quickly. Momma bear will chase her only a short distance before turning back. It would be interesting to see if the dialogue changes when she gives the teddy bear to the little girl.

On the way that leads from the secret passage through the wall (to artamark) that you know where it is if you play light campaign ever, check wiki, .......along that path heading towards griffonborough there is a little boy who is looking for his cat. The name of the quest is cat and mouse. you can pick him up + cat and never turn in.
