Looking for names for Ancaria's Regional Graveyards

Recommended Posts

Time to get some screenshots I think.

Just arrived at the graveyard which is part of ghost village quest. I'm in that graveyard close to nowhere, I think I have to go underground to meet someone, sent there by a ghost. thing is I am running this chain quest so fast I haven't been taking much noticce of what is happening, better check the log :) OK, ghost guard has sent me to a cemetary, maybe to get the ring but can't remember :) Anyway, I'll fire up screenshot manager and take some pics.

On the Wiki map the location is called "Last Watch". Anyone done that one? I've got the pics if not.

Your memory is pretty good actually for the most part. The guard merely turns you away saying you can't go in because the Baron hasn't authorized it. So you take upon yourself to go to the Last Watch and find the guy's grave and finding his signet ring. The ghost will then recognize it and let you pass.

And yes, it's been completed. You can check the wiki page for the ones that are done. If you don't see the graveyard listed there, it likely needs to be doing.

The graveyards are broken down into regioins - Elf, Human, Orc, Swamp, Desert, etc... Note the Last Watch is the 4th cemetary listed under the Human region.

Thanks for the point out. I spotted a couple of inscriptions that arent on the Wiki, I'll add them to the page when I am not tired.

Found a new, yet unmentioned graveyard!

It's to the east of Blade Fields in the Orc region.

There's bonus stuff there too..! There be a Star Trek egg there...

Both are already up on the wiki page.. :)

Cool...now that's a surprise! I was hoping the game would pop out another graveyard...they have been getting on the rare side with all the listing now happening.

Great on the find Wolfie, and... woo hoo, another star trek egg!

Making the morning here

Just saw the edits. Grave inscriptions creep me out a bit... that whole thing about las vegas and bodies in the desert... if you've seen that nasty scene at the end of Casino with Joe Pesci and his brother...

*gulp*

you know what I mean

Found 1 more in the El Darrag area - seems I should have swung the camera around cause I missed one the first time through. Wiki's been updated.

Also found an entire cemetary in the desert region - located right at the foot of the temple in Khorum... It's also now on the Wiki...

@ Gogo -

I dunno... These grave inscriptions are anything but creepy. Especially the ones in Khorum. They're more likely to induce a HUGE groan than terror. The puns there are almost as lethal as the Lukewarm lumpy swill.. BAD puns..

An entire new cemetary... nice! I knew that Brad had been saying that he'd thought there was another cemetary in that area... great you've revealed it.

And...I have been thinking about the TONS of references coming off the graves. I would like to begin referencing them on and off during wee hours, a bit here and there... mabye a few months, or a year from now, they could all possibly be done.. question is...how to do it? For example, there is a lovely gravestone inscription in the byway cemetery..but I wanted to add pix and stuff.. enough to make the list of inscriptions look messy...but perhaps not quite enough for it's own button...

What do you think about us just making the entire inscription a link to it's own page... and only those links that anyone can figger out what the reference is or just wants to add info... think that'd be cool?

And later on...if one of the pages gets nice and heavy...it could be promoted to it's very own egg.

Or..we could put small one or two sentence explanations underneath them?

Ideas?

:)

I'm leaning toward the short and sweet 1 - 2 liner beneath the reference method. Anything more would likely wind up being more mess than anything else. Having a pic, an inscription and a blurb about where it's from doesn't seem like a lot to base a page on. Granted, there are other pages that are limited in substance - unique weapons, legendaries, certain monsters, etc... - but for the most part there isn't much in the way you can add to them most of the time.

I'm sure there are probably maybe a few more graveyards left to explore. We'll get 'em all eventually...

I been looking at it all day...I think I agree with you on the short and sweet. Making links and thumbnails makes for a more obstructed read... like roadblocks in the way of a raceway ^^ Not saying it's bad ...but in this case, perhaps one or two lines of explanation if/when we can come up with them will provide satisfactory.

I'll see if we can put together a decent formatting for initial inscription and explanation together...something that looks half decent with a bunch of these running down the page.

Sounds like a plan.. Besides.. Didn't you get rid of all of the pics of grave inscriptions that were littering the Shadowy Catacombs Cemetary? The newer format is a LOT easier to read, plus faster to load. There just aren't that many image templates for the various graves that would make it all that interesting anyhow you slice it. It's like, you've see one, you've just about seen 'em all.

Do we have a separate page with just individual graves in the Wiki? I noted a few earlier in this thread but didn't see them in the Wiki. There is another grave at the end of a cave in the Medici outpost NW of the military camp north of Clearview. The tombstone reads: "He was happily married - but his wife wasn't."

P.S. As a side note the Medici were a powerful family in the middle ages of Europe who were notorious for their activity in politics, murder by poison and support of the arts.

Yah.. The name of the family is DeElfici... It's close... And you meant northEAST of Clearview.. Right? This is the place where light path players pick up the package for the soldier up in Artamark... Northwest would put you in General Delizius' camp - the rabid Blind Guardian fan with the drumsticks.

I added a page called "Tyr-Lysia Graves and Memorials" to the Grave Inscriptions page. It'll serve as a catch-all for misc graves like the one you found. I'm basing this page on the Desert region catch-all page.

Go ahead and add it there.

Hi narchlord!

I don't think we have that page yet, but I can put it in today during Work. Wolfie or anyone else got a name they want to use for this page?

See above.. I couldn't come up with any better name..

Yeah the names of the boss family members are DeElfici but their actions in both the light and shadow campaigns remind me of the Medici. And I had my camera turned so NW became NE. Good catch Wolfie2kx!

Instead of having a separate page for each area why can't we have one on page titled Miscellaneous Graves and Monuments in Ancaria with the regions listed as headers above the found graves, pretty much the same format as the cemeteries page is now?

I'm wondering about this too. That for convenience, just having one catchall for all the grave inscriptions not having their place in a cemetary would aid the page with functionality?

Wolfie, think this would make it easier... then this way the feel is when running down the page... a list of cemeteries with the last or very first link being the catch all for all inscriptions that are not in any of the other graveyards.

Eh.. I dunno.. All I can say is that a catch-all page would kinda rob the Desert region section any reason for existance. Most of the graves there aren't in cemetaries. Just a few scattered here and there. The exception is the one cemetary in Khorum.

I see what you mean. And... the more I think about it..it's kind of more detailed to create catch alls in their respective regions... this way each region has the potential to have two different kinds of groupings.. by cemetery and overall catch all for that specific region.

I think that works, I see where you were going with this :viking:
