pot -> Sauerkraut

My wife and me are always battling how to do the perfect Sauerkraut. Her mother came from a family with long tradition of making pottery. My fathers side were woodworker.

Clay pot or wood barrel? Both need a top which allows gases to evade while keeping unwanted bacteria away. In the clay case this  is done by making a water holding ring around the top. The lower part of the cover sits in the water. The gas bubbles can go through the water while air from outside is stopped, much like a valve.

The pot my wife made herself is around 6 times bigger than in the video and white with blue ornaments. My wood barrel 10 times. This winter the pot was for red cabbage and the barrel for Sauerkraut. Next year it will be the opposite.

Theuns, you should probably have had some food with that wine too, sir.  :agreed:

distillation -> unwanted

Unwanted distillation is when air in a chemical factory is pumped away and some of the mix condenses in a chimney or pipe. In case of a chimney this may result in fires. He, I wasn't always sleeping at the risk training at airfield firefighters. It used to be monday mornings after a long drive from home back to army.
