Flix 5,116
My antivirus interferes with running Sacred2.exe provided by the patch (tries to prevent launch and wants to scan the file). I have to disable it before running the game. Could be some similar but silent process going on with you. Link to comment

The game started fine but there was no text in the textboxes. Solution: I set the game directory to "no scan" in Avast, reinstalled the fonts and reinstalled the CM-Patch. Seems to be an issue of creditability of the files. Not many users, so the file is marked a "potentially evil". Link to comment
rancor00 2
Thatnks for a great job and a BIG thankyou to all involved! I have few questions if you dont mind: How to verify the patch is working ? Should the character screen say CM patch 160 if its activated right? I attached a picture showing what I mean How to add -nocpubinding -skipopenal shortcut options to steam version please? Im not sure how to check if they are working so I attached steam picture too. Androdion 875
Correct on both questions, the cm patch version number should be displayed on the main screen and the startup options on Steam are right where you've pictured. 1 Link to comment

Yep, dude. The character screen should contain "CM Patch 0160" text Link to comment
mewkang 13
On the PC that I'm using temporarily, the CM Patch 1.60 causes the message "Sacred 2 - Game Server has stopped" to appear upon launching, and even though the loading screen does appear after waiting for a while, the game seems to freeze after that. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? The computer's OS is Windows 7, in case it matters. And it works fine with CM Patch 1.50 and Enhanced Spells mod, it's the CM Patch 1.60 that this computer is struggling with. Link to comment
Wayeth 0
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the splash screens that come up during transitions that have hints on them? I just reinstalled a new hard drive and I don't remember getting them before. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Link to comment

Is Win7 64-bit or 32-bit? Also, disable the firewall and whatever antivirus solution you're using before launch and try again. 33 minutes ago, Wayeth said: how to get rid of the splash screens Those are hardcoded. They are expected to appear during area transitions via teleport, or enter-exit areas. That on Win10 and some Win7 systems they don't is the result of an incomplete legacy compatibility(even in compatibility mode) between WinXP 32-bit(on which Sacred 2 was expected to run) and latter Win OS iterations. Androdion 875
Do you have any other mod active? There shouldn't be none. Other than that I can't say, just putting compatibility options on the game's .exe files I guess... Link to comment
mewkang 13
No, not really... I don't have other mods active. I also put compatibility options on the game's .exe file, as is shown in the first post. My other computer could run the patch with no problem, so I'm not sure what's wrong with this one. Good thing I won't be using this computer for long... Edit: I'm using Steam version, by the way. Edited November 19, 2017 by mewkang Link to comment
Androdion 875
I'm also on Steam with the same OS specs as you are, so I don't know... Do you have Steam overlay active? It's a bit of a nuisance but usually not impeditive. Maybe Flix or Dimitrius can lend a hand. Link to comment
dimitrius154 612
I'm beginning to suspect that some of the older faulty dll's are being used. Link to comment
mewkang 13
Yes, I hope there's a way to fix this problem, as well... Edit: older faulty dll's? What do you mean...? By the way, I tried reinstalling Sacred 2 Gold but it didn't work somehow. I guess I should've done a cleaner install... Edited November 20, 2017 by mewkang Link to comment

mewkang 13
No, vanilla and 1.50 work while 1.60 doesn't... I could patch the game to 1.60 but it has the same problem as before, which is "Sacred 2 - Game Server has stopped working." Link to comment
dimitrius154 612
If so, then there should be entries in Windows Logs, regarding s2gs.exe crashes. Would you, please, post the latest such entry? Link to comment
mewkang 13
Where can I find such logs? I did a google search, but I'm not sure where they are located...
