Moneymoneymoney!

I want to go to a scientist meeting with such a t-shirt! Lets see what happens. Such a shirt is very well suited to troll them hard! At least scientists are not known to be violent people, so my chances to get out alive are quite good. I assume they will still throw shoes after me. :tomato:

I do not think that a drunken russian is a god. I think he only thinks he is.

My wife has a nice t-shirt:

I know you are right, but I prefer my opinion more

And of course I live in Washington State (US) where all but one or so deaths has happened in the entire US. *sigh* (all on the west side of the state, and I'm in Eastern WA. But still) - I just need to make sure I can get up to Canada in the beginning of July for my friend's wedding!

After today (last day in the office at work) I'll be working remotely from home for the next 6 weeks or so. So that will help with the "social distancing")

Another story: My wife called the gym that we have a membership to, in order to ask what precautions they are taking for the coronavirus. (Like, do they wipe down the machines more, providing extra cleansing items, etc.) And.. the gal who answered the phone said "Don't worry, you won't get sick because the coronavirus doesn't exist"  - My wife was too surprised by that answer to even respond to that.  - I think this gal might be part of the Flat Earth Society! Seriously.

Gym's are closed in several states in Germany.

What I fear most is that it isn't known how long you are immune from corona after recovering from a corona infection.

If it are 3-4 years UK and Sweden may be right by not restricting too much. They want the number of hard cases as high as possible while still below the capacity of hospitals.

But what if people are only immune for half a year, no one knows yet. In this case the early infected may be infected again while the pandemie isn't over yet resulting in a too high spike.

If the corona infection curve is flattened too much, the pandemie may take too long. You can't have medical people in high readiness for half a year. They will start to make mistakes and get infectd themself.

And with this said and work is over:

Time to drive home, get a spade and do some garden work. No Gym needed for body workout. The nice side effect is: if supermarkets are empty we will still have food at home.

Denying the existence of cov19 might have an economic background. Imagine people would leave the gym in vast numbers. It leads to the gyms ruin of course. In theory it is global politics under a looking glass. Prevent panic, keep control and the machine running. Absolutely reckless, but as soon as it is about money, there are no rules anyway.

Despite we are thinking the same thought, chattius, there is no use complaining about it. Cov19 will be a test for every society worldwide. Times will be unpleasant, yes, but nothing remains than to take it on. Also, it shows what a man is made of.

Ayup. Since wednesday, my company made working from home mandatory if the situation allows for it, and since Sunday 18:00 it is required by our government. I however, was not ready for that. I rarely work from home, even though technically I can, so I really miss having people around. I'm not an extrovert but this is something else...

Our country is mostly shut-down as of now, we won't be going to the first Dutch GP in ages since it will probably be called off, and it's likely we shall be cancelling our summer holiday, meaning we're loosing a fairly substantial amount of money to the side effects of this whole situation as well.

But, better to be safe than sorry. Take care of yourselves everyone and stay safe :)

Its gone pretty heavy with lodkkdwn here as well... no biggish gatherings, all gyms closed, and my work is offering to pay office workers to go home and work and if not feeling well they will aid with salary while home until Work From Home tech can be installed.

Yestreday on the phone with my insurance company, even the lady there said they were all going to be moved into remote operations

Yes all our clients are scrambling as well. Our contacts are usually staffmembers, so they are supposed to be working from home. But not everyone is tech-savvy enough to make it that far on their own...

I phoned a supermarket 3 days in advance that I will come to buy for all old people in village. They said okay and ordered some extra and put all on pallets. But this morning when arriving with a Unimog with a trailer and the supermarket putting pallet after pallet on the trailer with a forklift (no direct contact to anyone) - there was an outcry by other customers. Such insulting way below the belly line that I wished that the old Unimog second hand from army had still the mount for a machine gun on the roof. Didn't help much that the supermarket leader said that it was an order in advance for 60+ people. Luckily most people know me and they said to the others to shut up. Insulters coming from town to a supermarket in countryside in hope that it has more on store than in town to empty it...

No public traffic anymore to the village and the 80+years old ladies not having a driving license. Add the extra risk old people have...

Our Au Pair girl from New Zealand is absolute unsure what to do. Her school for translators is closed and she fears that flights back home might be impossible way into autumn.

My 300million Euro neighbour (next forest clearing 2 miles away) asked me if I knew someone who would care for his weekend house next months because he will be forced to stay at his business place. Lonely villa mit in forest, I said yes and placed my parents in law and my mom there.

Father in law as an old mechanic and motorbike racer asked right away if he is allowed to restore one of the old rusty oldtimers at the place. Will keep him happy and busy and my third and my nephews can learn some car mechanics from an expert.

Ya. Our entire office went into full remote starting today for the next 6 weeks.

On top of that our Washington state governor issued a lockdown statement for our state.

https://medium.com/wagovernor/inslee-announces-statewide-shutdown-of-restaurants-bars-and-expanded-social-gathering-limits-bb19095b2251

Not that you need to read it. But I hope that it doesn't cause a lot of business to close permanently. :(

Crazy times.

There are so many things to be considered by politicians and they are not used to do quick decisions.

Hunting, allowed yes/no

Only allowed to leave house for job, buying food, ...

Being the 126 people village mayor I joined a phone conference of the district. I was so stupid to ask what is with hunting. It isn't a job, it isn't a hobby ... Land owner have to make sure that wild animals do not too much harm to agriculture and forests. Answer: Noone mentioned it, wasn't discussed yet...

Before Corona it was agreed to make big boar hunts to stop the african swine fever going further west. If an infection of a boar is in a district every pig has to be slaughtered. So reducing available food.

With the heat lust summer and many forests died, without hunting new planted trees will be eaten by deer and roe,

People with no smartphone

District agreed for one day a week to do bus traffic to country villages. To save the driver from harm only rear door entry is allowed. The drivers won't sell tickets any more. But you need a ticket in case of a control or accident (for insurance).

So I asked: half of the old people in our village have no new smart phone or an cellular phone at all. The e-ticket app demands new android or iphone. I asked how shall they get a ticket. Answer: There are ticket automats at central bus stations and railway stations.

Next automat would be 12 miles away.

....

And my brain was still in warm up phase in the conference, not full running because I returned late from work because of a 12 hour shift.

Quebec's premiere just spoke last night..he's advocating that people dont even move from "regions" to "regions" ... pretty much stay in your local neighborhood only.

I never thought it would become like this... in our buses, the front of the bus is now not for entry as its entire section is cordonned off by plastic so that the drivers have very very minimal interaction with the public.

And transportation...is free

My country went into lockdown yesterday, it's been a hectic week to be honest. A lot of struggling for those working in retail since we've been heavily exposed to the regular asymptomatic Joe cruising the shops just because. But finally the government decided to close all non essential services and stores. So now we're basically like in Spain and Italy, minus the horrid death toll, thankfully. We count by active cases the same number of dead that Spain has so I hope this lockdown prevents an escalation like in our neighbouring country. Just don't expect people to act like this is a world threatening crisis because many were still happily cruising the shopping malls for clothes, shoes, jewellery... You know, all the things you really need to live through a pandemic outbreak.

Anyway, everything is going well so far for me and my own. Now we're stuck at home for the next couple of weeks, let's hope things normalize so that it doesn't get prolonged for even more time. Best of health to all of you and stay safe, this isn't a zombie apocalypse just yet but it's also nothing to joke about.

That's intense, Androdion...  I'm happy to hear that your family is safe... did you have to stock pile food? Food storage and prep has never really been my forte.

Gonna have to buy more Ramen than I thought

Trader build, most likely. :tongue2:

Jokes aside, those who can, stay at home, close the door behind you, dont let the cat out. Dont pick up the newspaper, or letters, wear disposable gloves if you go shopping. Cov19 can live up to 72 hours on certain materials and surfaces.

I did buy one more unit of each of the usual weekly stuff, wouldn't exactly call it stockpiling to be honest. Supermarkets are still open, we just have restrictions when leaving our houses. Only one person allowed to come out at a time, only one customer per 100 square meters of comercial surface, a safe distance when within the shop, stuff like that. And if the cops pull me over and tell I can't be at that place they'll (for now) escort me back home. If I don't comply they can arrest me on the spot. It's kind of a simplified martial law without the repression and the curfew. If things get better and people behave well enough it shouldn't go any further than this. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Isn't it just crazy? - WA state now has even more restrictions as well. Luckily we aren't condemned to our homes yet (like San Francisco). But still. This is unreal.

That bus stuff you mentioned, that is crazy. But I can kind of see why. They want to be able to offer the service as long as possible. Free transportation? That is nice. I hope ours comes to that. At least before they start minimizing the routes, etc.

Oh wow! - (I agree with buying minimally more than your usual stuff). I don't quite get the reason you want to buy 10 large packages of toilet paper (and probably weekly! *sigh*) at least when you could buy without a quantity restriction.

I hope everything goes okay for you Androdion! Stay safe.
