Easter with the family this weekend... it's an annual Egg Hunt that my cousin's wife does every year. This year more than thirty kids and their parents showed up. They live up in the country, some land and animals...lots of fun.

Thank you lord for helping us cope with the sugar downs after...

that is sooooo much sugar!

and it is very strange to see easter with snow... I am used to hot sunny days. in the Western Cape people swear it always rains, but I have not really paid that much attention because I am always working over that time,(it did rain this weekend Happiness!). but where I grew up, it was warm, chocolate melted before it could be eaten.

hahahah, it IS a lot of snow ... Kandy (wife of my cousin who organizes all this) is up for hours the nights before ( and us the night just before) putting sweets into hollowed plastic toy eggs. Gums, lollipops, caramels, chocolates...

I'm glad you got to see some snow Theuns!

we were lucky to have some snow left for this April... they have great winding roads, and my nephew Jake is at a great age, he just loves to kick stuff around...

Here's a picture of me taken way back, well, 'bout a hundred years ago when I was a Ranger. Fortunately, immortality has it's perks and I look much the same to this day, minus the duds and the silver star. Oh, I still have the badge, I just don't sport it any more.

but this sky (day) was last year

few minutes before the "gang" arrived to have a ride to the "season ending meeting" at luimex (ferrari dealer)

weather was very nice and on german the autobahn (no speed limit most parts of the way) a pleasure

imagine: 8 ferarris, 3 lambos, some porsche and us

(us means my wife with an bmw m6 gc, a friend with an bmw m5 comp an me I took my tracktool bmw m2 that day)

(25 real sportscars in a convoy- the count was more than 14000 horse power in row -> imagine the sound ....)

the ride and the event was perfect - but the way back ... it started raining -> have a look

I didn´t use the wipers, because my windshield is made with special ceramic stuff

the black car in front of me in the vid is a 458 stardale speciale aperto (boaaahhhh ehhh)

speed in the rain was about 100- 130 km/h faster is not possible with the semislicks ...

today the weather is ... no...  no weather for racers

I cannot imagine the frustration of having a superbly engineered sports-car that is just begging to be driven within its limits and the added angst of enduring the need for speed on a day with inclement weather. Perhaps it is best that I neither find out nor even so much as inspect the driver's seat of a Ferrari for its comfort.

And... as promised...some scenes from my brother's wedding last week in Akumal Mexico... going back to work is tough after a week off in the sun with family and friends :

These photos are from my cousins wedding that was in September. 

It was held close between the sun and hell... just kidding. but even for South Africa, it is an Area that is NEVER cold. Pretty close to the Border between South Africa and Botswana, in a direct line, just more than 50km..

My other cousin's daughter was a flower girl (the brides Niece)

 

The Groom and his daughter (from his first marriage. (she is only a year younger than my cousin.)) and his best man, I think it is his brother...

 

The beautiful Couple

The Brides sister, my other cousin, was her maid of honour

 

 

My Middle Sister with her husband and their two children. 

 

My oldest sister with her husband and their 3 boys

 

my Mom with her 3 kids and 5 grandchildren (only 4 grandchildren are present for the picture... Iahn did not want to pose for photos anymore...)

 

3 of my nephews. (the oldest sisters boys)

 

My cousin asked if I will decorate the wedding cake, her other aunt was going to bake it, but had no experience in decorating it, and I also made macarons.

Macaron flavours where:

Strawberry with a strawberry chocolate buttercream icing.

Coffee with a almond chocolate cream cheese icing

Vanilla with a dark chocolate buttercream icing.

the 3 cakes where:

Carrot, with white chocolate drip

Red velvet with strawberry chocolate drip

dark chocolate with almond chocolate drip

Theuns, these are just absolutely brilliant pix! Thanks for sharing, and the great story telling that comes with all of this.  Weddings have got to be one of the most amazing times around for family, and I was lucky enough to make it down to my Bro's wedding down in Mexico this summer...what a grand time! The clothing, weather, light...just like in your own photos... of course I must ask is...is there anyone in your family who isn't blonde?

Yes. My dad's side of the family Mostly has dark hair, pitch black for most of the men, the Ladies, one aunt had blonde hair, the other two had brown - light brown. 2 of my cousins has blonde hair, they are brother and sister. 

on my moms side... pretty evenly spread between blonde and dark hair. Both her brothers had black hair that has become grey. and a few cousins has blonde hair. My one female cousin has beautiful long blonde hair, soft as silk

Been a while here on this thread... I'll throw in first... we just got back from Cuba with the family... was a first time here and on the bucket list for some of us...here's my mom and I near Havanero near one of their famous cars...  there's so few cars in Cuba, lada's going for what 55 thousand USD... they keep what they got but they sure look pretty:

For Lisa's 30th bday we went away for a weekend. she is the one next to me (or the only one not wearing glasses.

 

a day at a beach restaurant. a bit windy but the sun was nice and warm.

 

Steph, Lisa and I are in a Harry Potter Quiz night Team. The Bouncing Ferrets.

In the second picture we came third, and in the first picture we came 2nd place... don't have pictures of our last 3 win nights...

Christmas day at La Residence. my previous place of employment. These are most of the chefs... all of us worked on Christmas day, 31st December and the 1st...

I do miss restaurant work...but when i think about those hours... all of a sudden Im perhaps not so unhappy anymore
