I guess as a young kid that would look kinda cool xD But then again, when I think back to my childhood memories, its as if I was on magic mushrooms the whole time.

hehe -- nowadays my drink of choice is V8 juice mixed with a shot duet :)

In real life I am a vodka man (mixed with anything), tho I am learning to appreciate sake now.

You should stop by more often funki! Sucks that the weather's no good though. Its not too bad down here in melbourne but I'm cooped up inside writing an assignment or two for uni so I'm missing out on the fun...so drinks all round!

Just so busy these days and I just got back from Melbourne for the weekend, the weather was freezing, nice to get back and pack my jackets away but was good to catch up with Family.

You're starting to like it? I've tried it but it tasted pretty funny/funky/weird...

How do you drink it, warm or cold?

I prefer it cold, tho sometimes hot is ok if it is really cold outside (like hot cider).

Sake is like beer in that it is an acquired taste, and in that there are thousands of brands and types to chose from. A safe choice is Hakusan, which is smooth, crisp, and dry, and best served cold. Oni-koroshi is another popular brand that can be served at room temp or slightly chilled. It has a slight sweet fruitie; taste and a silky texture.

edit note -- the auto editor doesn't seem to like kana or hiragana text or :P

It's one of my favorite imbibements. When I found out you can buy it at the SAQ and just nuke it before you drink, it's convenience jumped up ten fold

:P

p.s. Funky! lol, I thought that was you hiding in the back of the bar. Can you still recognize this place after the thousands of members have barreled through it over the last few years? I think the cushions need darning.

Its quieter at the back, just as long as you keep passing the drinks along, I am happy ;) Maybe the carpet needs replacing too, seems a bit threadbare :P

Yes the most practical surface, I personally hate carpet and have wooden floors myself so maybe pull up the carpet (its getting too sticky from all the spillages anywho) and lay down the timber :P

Lager is german for storage.

Old brewery laws forbit beer brewing in the summer months. So breweries did a special beer which ended fermenting in the barrels and was cooled to be drunk in the summer months and stored in cold cellars.

Old german brewery laws didn't allow to add fruits to beer.

The favourite brewery of my girls:

Einzug-des-Brauereigespanns.jpg

One of the few in germany which still have cold blood horses to pull a beer carriage at festivals. I remember Licher brewery from school. Each year we did a visit at Licher with nature science classes. They have a nice TV-Ad: a kingfisher diving for a fish while 'Solveigs song' from Peer Gynt.

Licher was drunken by Elvis Presley while he was as a GI in germany, not far away from the brewery. There are photos of Elvis visiting a Licher Pub in his white time.

White time:

Elvis used to drive a white BMW 507 but was angry that girls kissed the car all the time and it was full of lipstick. So he ordered that the car was repaint red. He bought even a red BMW Isetta to drive unregnozed.

Oddly enough there was a 'making history' programme that I listened to on my way home this afternoon that told us that meaning of lager - obvious I suppose if you stop to think about it. Lager has been brewed for 150 odd years in England, but only at one or two specialist breweries. It is only 30 years ago that lager really 'arrived' in GB in any quantity - from Germany.

Great horses. There is, or was till very recently, a brewery (Vaux) in Sunderland (NE England) which still used horses for delivery in town and for festivals and horse shows.

As kids we used to run out along the street after the horses with shovel and bucket to collect a bit of manure for the garden.

But we are duplicating here with the other beer thread.

It's so hot here. Unseemly weather. Sweaty, wet and sticky. I'd like to order a bathtub of chilled Perrier with extra action bubbles

skip the ice

I love my Canadian neighbors to the North, but I am always suspicious when they complain about the heat. Does it mean that ice is starting to melt outside? :)

Just checking, because in Phoenix AZ I think we define "hot" a little differently than most other folks :P

But here's your Perrier, extra carbonation, and a slice of lemon!

I was in Florida during the hot months a few years back, couldnt believe how bloody hot it was, tried explaining just how hot to my fellow eskimos, but I dont think they get it.

I like this talk of vodka. Jello anyone?

;)

Jello shots! You're the man ;)

When I was in college we used to inject oranges with vodka, and sneak them into University of Arizona football games. Vodka is so flexible :bye:

Oh man.. It's rare that I will actually have a craving for a "cold one" but today... Dang! It was a humid 40°C today and I was working in it all day. :heat: Time to break out tha keg.

Drinks all around! :)

Ah now we are talkin about Vodka,

So what is everybodies favorite vodka?

I used to like Stolichnaya with tonic. But once I was introduced to Grey Goose, there is no going back. When ever I do happen to pick up a bottle it goes straight into the freezer and I drink it on the rocks. mmmm....good!
