Not at all. I like the public info about the game being as precise as possible.

Oh, and wanted to ask. Should I be mentioning any updates I may do in the future here on the forums/this thread?

Made some changes, specifically about Open Wounds and Damage Lore. There were some bits of obviously wrong info or info that might have been true in vanilla Sacred 2, but was changed in Ice & Blood/no longer works that way. I'm recently playing with a character that got Damage Lore Mastered and it has no observable effect on wounds. Think I got all the relevant pages.

Thanks for the edits!, you hit a lot of different mods

Just created a page for the forgotten Du'Rach Commander Harrad'smit.

https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Du'Rach_Commander_Harrad'smit

He was not noted anywhere on the wiki so created the page from scratch, using the same template as the other quest bosses and pictures I just took.

Also added him to the boss list here:

https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Boss

Wasn't quite sure whether to put him into the Quest Boss section or Mini Boss section, but ended up putting him ino the Quest Boss one. Can be moved wherever. Tried to keep the same format, but couldn't figure out how to exactly make the images the same size as for the other bosses. If anyone knows, you can have a go at it.

And one last thing, the links for the "See XYZ's location on the SacredWiki map" all throw a 404 now. I assume it's just a matter of updating the URL? It currently links to http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Map_of_Ancaria. I assume that is an old link? I could probably update the links on the bosses' pages to the currently functioning one: https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Map_of_Ancaria

I played Vanilla, CM-patch and EE for years. He's not a Boss in Vanilla/CM and neither he is in older EE versions. His Boss status and improved stats got added in one of the more recent EE versions. I assume that Flix either accidentally or intentionally ported this change to PFP.

Ah, OK. So probably remove him from the boss list and just keep the page then? Probably not even worth moving him to the CM Bosses section if he is not used in the CM Patch. Or create a section named "Other bosses" or something?

Could also add the restored T-Energy Dragon to the CM Bosses section as that one is present in both the CM Patch and PFP.

Will also add a note on Harrad's page that it's a restored enemy. Been too long since I played vanilla :P

EDIT:
Moved him to the "Other bosses" section and added a note that he was present in the vanilla files but never used and that some mods restore him.

Also added the Mutated Dragon to the Community Patch Bosses as he is present there since version 1.60. He was also in the vanilla files but unused (that I remember for sure, unlike with Harrad) but the dragon's page only mentions that he's in Diablo 2 Fallen. I did not take the liberty to edit any info on that page for that reason.

You made a beautiful new page!  you're a natureal

I think your idea of where to keep it sounds reasonable, as with mods the documenting of this game has gone quantum

:D

Also on topic of bosses, I just realized that Jaftar in the Light Campaign path is also not listed. He is the guy holding the girls hostage in the cellar in Act 2. Now that I think of it, I don't remember him being a boss in the original Sacred 2.

@Flix is Jaftar another case of a restored boss? As in, was he in the files but not used?

Hi there, I can't save changes on this page (needs a bit polishing):

https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred:Sneaking_Around

error 403 is appearing. Is the page protected or is something broken?

Dathor I've been reading up with all your edits to the Under world Wiki... you're slowly adding to all the quest pages, great work!!

We put up underworld when we were just at the end of game, and sacred 2 was coming out soon after and all the work went to the second installation of this franchise with underworld being forgotten :(

Thank you for bringing it back to life! :hugs:

I just checked, and.. dang, yer right, were getting an error for any save to that page...I'll ask if Schot can take a look at it , and maybe this afternoon he'll have a way forward for us.

Thanks gogo, I will look if something changed. [Edit: nope, it is still "Error 403"]

Yes, as I progress with my current char (a wonderful effective wood elf) I add a thing or two to the quest pages. But I learned that it does not need exact numbers as the rewards are fairly random.

Yeeks!

Me and Schot were looking at that error this last week, but we were doing it both from cellphones, so our fact finding result were not good. We'll look at this again for this weekend...and re the quest rewards, yah are they are rather random...but I believe if you check quest rewards in the Sacred 2 section they would link-answers like gold or ...e experience linking each of those two words to their own page:

https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Artifact_Theft

thats an example of a quest with the template and their link-answers in the quest rewards

:)

Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since I first did a huge update to the Mods Page on the Wiki.  I did what I could today to get it whipped into shape not just with mod projects but also some of the tools and guides that have popped up.

We've had so many awesome new contributions over the years I'm sure I missed some.  Any editors out there feel free to add to the list.

The page for sure has gotten into a better state than it was.
But at this point I feel like it's more of a collection to darkmatters discussions which can be tedious read-throughs. That's probably a hard wall for new modders. It's hard to filter out all the unimportant and/or incorrect pieces of informations.

I have some ideas for that.

The method my teachers use, and I love that method, is to first explain a very wide base of topics very narrowly, and then specializing more and more into certain topics, going deeper and deeper into the more important topics while at the same time touching fewer and fewer of the topics of lesser importance.

I'd suggest:

  • stucturing the modding page like a first-level tutorial to give an overview about what can and can't be done. Tickle all the different aspects of the game on a surface level, like spells, creatures, items, quests etc.
  • and then link to second-level-pages. I'd make one for each .txt file, to explain what that file does.
  • and from there finally link to third-level pages which explain advanced methods and give tutorials to advanced methods and usage of specific tools, and also explain some of the more advanced files like the dlls or everything in the pak folder

So one level always links to the next.

So something like the Tokens Page would already be third-level, but also tutorials on shader scripting. Of course there's a huge difficulty gap between those two things. Therefore, for third-level, I'd also mark the level of the method somewhere, like this is beginner modding, this is intermediate and these are some really advanced techniques.

However, a collection of darkmatters discussions is still useful, I'd just have it on another Page.

Of course this is all a lot of work and considering these are some deep transformations I don't want to start doing that on my own without some consensus. I always have these big ideas, but I don't have what it takes to make all of them reality.

And would it be worth it?
There once was a time where lots of potential new long-time-modders sprouted out of the greatness of this community, but lately it seems like traffic has calmed down a little. After all the game is pretty old and I fear that Sacred 2 might suffer the same fate as Sacred Gold, being a niche retro game played by only a handful of people with lots of love for it. There might come another wave of interest, but who knows.
In the end, working on the Wiki has the potential to satisfy my perfectionism, so I might start working on these ideas, but I'm trying to never become as obsessed with Sacred 2 as I have been in the past again, so finishing this idea would be difficult.

First of all: Thanks a lot for all the great work at the wiki. It's among the best wikis I have ever seen.

I have been worried a bit lately, because I am getting lots of error-messages (Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination) when browsing the wiki. This results in many small pictures not getting loaded. At first I suspected a browser-specific problem, but the same issue persists with all browsers I used.

Does anyone have an idea what happened?

I can write guides if I knew there was some demand. I can either do script analyses or instructions on how to complete a specific goal. I just need to know what people are interested in learning. Dumping the sum total of knowledge I've picked up would be a lot of time and effort.

Can you create https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:drop.txt and explain your detailed knowledge?

Also https://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Sacred_2_-_Item_Drop_Mechanics I'd bet this is pretty outdated by know. Also could be made less discussion-like and more wiki-like, more structured. But anybody can improve this once you drop.txt knowledge is there.

No need to hurry and feel free to reject.

Khorath, very sorry to have gotten to your post so late :blush2:

We've seen this as well.  We had a issue with the wiki a few weeks ago, most of the functionalities restored, but some are still to be done. Hopefully asap...soon as schot finishes the carpets and some reno :D

And thank you for your very kind, generous and thoughtful feedback for SacredWiki.

Its the work of many many hundreds (well have to count some day maybe thousands! :D ) and the work is never ending it seems.
