I've never done that before. It's sad but true; a 45 year old man's never transferred pictures from his phone to his pc before. So, I'm gunna do an experiment first. This one, if it goes through, is one of my halfbeaks

These are some of the happiest little fish in my tanks. But that's not what you requested; you wanted to see colors. I can do that. I'm going to start a new thread, as this one's supposed to be "what are you currently playing". It's just gunna take a bit; I have several hundred photos to download from my phone

Alright, I started a topic for pets, esp bc gogo wanted to see my colored shrimp. I have two pics right now. Well, I have hundreds, but something's goin down. You know those see through rain ponchos in movies like the original Bladerunner? There's a gal outside my house, pacing up and down the sidewalk, wearing ONLY one of those see through things. There's probably a rational explanation, but it's making the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. So I gotta make this quick. One picture is of two baby shrimp. Those little guys move very fast, but I saw these two on the food cube. The adults are more vivid, but there's not an adult in sight. I have dream blue, emerald green, sunburst orange, but not a single one is in view. Either I have planaria (a nasty worm that eats shrimp) or everyone's making more babies.

I might have to play with the rest of these pictures. I have 20 to 40 gallon tanks; it's hard for me to take a picture that meets the 2 MB size limit

I'm having trouble getting a lot of my pictures to fit. Of course, I don't have a problem with Queen Frankie's picture, lol. She's a hogchoker; one of my wife's favorites

And of course it'll let me post a picture of the Mystery snail. This is Petey, determined to cross the bubble disk.

I'll be back when I figure out how to size-down pictures.

Doc, the pictures should size to fit the forum. When a member clicks on them they will get a larger image so that they can explore them in greater detail. Thanks for sharing!

Idk what I'm doing wrong. All of these were done with my phone. Some of them fit, a few hundred of them say "exceeds to 2 MB limit". It doesn't make sense; if some of the pictures work, shouldn't they all, being that they were all taken w my phone? Sheesh, technology sometimes.

Some of them that didn't work before will work now. Some of them, idk. Lol, maybe I don't have my fish's permission to show them. Here's one that's a little fuzzy. I'm not certain, but I think this hogchoker's eating Nerite eggs off the glass. I wouldn't put it past her, she's my feisty one of that tank.

My phone's also in sos mode only, for some reason. Lol, this appears to be not the greatest night for me and technology

I could have sworn I started this thread in the daily grind, not general gaming. Whoops, sorry, I have no problem w this being moved, since it has nothing to do w gaming. I'm having just a devil of a time w these pictures. I think I'll find one of those sites w free picture sharing, then make a link to that, instead.

I know you'll figger your way through to your fish pix.. practice makes perfect, and DarkMatters has been around a loooong time

Thank you :) I'm still working on pictures. I have a pregnant orange so pregnant that she has pregnant chick waddle going on. Cherry shrimp are a lot of fun; I have like 40 babies running all over the place. If anyone's interested, I have one pro tip: I wouldn't buy cherry shrimp for color unless the seller can guarantee that they're purebred. The reason: when shrimp of two different colors mate, they're offspring are brilliantly colored, but they turn to a mottled shade of brown after their first molt. So, you pay extra money for that emerald green or dream blue that's gunna turn brown after a few weeks in your tank.

Doc, from what I can infer, your bio-diverse aquarium is very stable and simple to maintain. Have you incorporated any hardy aquatic plants? If not, you might find that adding some species which are not attractive as food to your residents, would make a nice addition. Incorporating flora, one piece at a time, after providing a full-spectrum of florescent light, could prove to be efficacious and beautifying.

Sure do :) Anubias, java moss mats, moss balls, duck weed, coontail, Amazon sword, hairgrass. A few I don't know the names of; my wife researched them. I'm also very partial to Mopani wood. I don't always have the greatest luck with plants in my brackish tanks; I'm still doing research on those. However, my brackish tanks only house hogchokers right now; all of them seem to be flourishing without plants, I just monitor water conditions and salinity levels.

saline tanks are tuff! My uncle had a few tanks at his house...but he was never ambitious enough to run saltwater tanks... dont they need to be heated as well?

ps most of my family grew up off the coast of Sri Lanka ... you could see the ocean right from their balcony and my mom says at night the pounding of the surf was so loud they problems sleeping   In those days my uncles used to underwater reef fish and bring back jars of salt water with fish, crabs, all manner of sea creatures, even lobster... their room would smell of fish my mom said, with my Ammama always forbidding them to bring in *stuff* but always managing to find ...

And yes, most of my tanks are low maintenance. The critters that aren't low maintenance are the clown pleco (like Victoria, pictured above). Clown pleco are very sensitive to light, poor water conditions, etc. Those require special care. But most of my critters are very hardy and easy to take care of.

Sri Lanka, now that sounds exotic. I'm not sure of the difficulty level of saltwater tanks; mine are a little different. Mine are brackish water tanks, meaning they have just a tiny bit of salt in them. If I remember right, saltwater tanks have like 35g of salt per liter. However, my hogchokers like a salinity of 1.005, or in layman's terms: just a few pinches of salt. The pain about brackish water tanks like mine: they don't make brackish water plants. There are freshwater plants, which will die in my brackish tanks, and saltwater plants, which also die in my brackish tank.

As far as heaters; that varies from region to region. I have to have them, because I like our house at 73F. My son also has a rough time regulating his body temperature. Part of his brain was damaged from a seizure; it's this whole long thing.
