Not sure if this is the right place for it, but just wanted to share a gift I just finished. Technically it's not completely done...But I'm running out of time :')

This was it just fresh of the printer:

And here after I painted it:

I still have a lot of lot of cleaning up to do...(Especially the Skin and Leather Bits) but I simply don't have the time. I'm sure they will be happy regardless and might not even notice the mistakes..But I know that they are there :'D

Either way, Merry Christmas everyone

Love this!

I wish I had the talent, vision, discipline, and diligence to create such amazing crafts. One of my friends, when we were teenagers, had what seemed like hundreds of miniatures in various stages of completion—painting, enameling, sanding. He was truly fascinated, and one of my favorite gifts every year was the miniature he would give me for special occasions like birthdays and Christmas. :singsanta:

Is there a particular game you follow, or do you tinker in Warhammer, dungeons and dragons, all thats there, and, or do you do dioramas?

Bravo to you for being able to give such a valuable part of your life and time to someone else and crystallize it into something so beautiful. I'm sure there's a long list of people eagerly waiting for your treasures to arrive.

Thank you for sharing your generous Christmas gift-giving moment with us. Wishing you and your family a beautiful Christmas, my friend.

This is fantastic! Does your printer take up much space? I daren't even consider getting one for the expense and space it would take up, but to be able to print things out like this and paint them would be so much fun. I'm sure the recipient is going to love it and I doubt they'll notice any issues with it at all. We're always most critical of our own work

Nice work! You did an outstanding job giving the figure a professional and battle-hardened appearance.

Seriously Pev...lol I was looking at it with hawk eyes as well... i mean... anything is possible ! However, Obscuare and you have great potential because you're already artists...so this would be a "tool" in fulfilling your creativity.. I can imagine people getting a 3d printer just to print stuff and then it gathering dust in the corner... printer transformed from artistic tool to a leftover consumed product...

but. if i only  could paint... ahhhhhh

Thanks everyone for your kind words <3 Unfortunately I can't like your comments (yet?).

Even though I'm not 100% happy with the outcome (Very critical of my own work, to a point where I don't even like to consider myself an artist :'D), my father was very happy with it.

@pevilI highly recommend getting one if you can :) They are much cheaper than they used to be - This is my "Printing Corner". The four spools on the right are optional, they can be used for switching material faster, automatically switching when one spool is empty, or multi-colour prints. It's very useful, but if you lack the space, you don't need it.grafik.thumb.png.0368e443dc01dc11119d3e7ddac3003c.png

Here are two more prints I really like, but have yet to paint:

@gogoblenderBig fan of both DnD and Warhammer, but I mostly paint for display purposes :) I use some of the Miniatures for DnD, but I never actually played the Warhammer Tabletop - Just enjoy the Minis and Lore.

I had a chance to REALLY study your painted image...the detail and painstaking work on the hanging leather and the dried blood ... I then went to looking at all the pieces and we discussed this during Christmas to fully get YOUR vision of the paint colors and details... you sort of have to have kind of a dialogue going with the figures right?  I can see it...its like when im writing prose, blogs, or acting out stories.. we have to empathize with our subjects to make them fully visible in our heads and then, with that detail we can make them visible to others and then ..your story pops!

Do you sometimes get surprised with the way a paint is going...like you start with one sentiment...and then as its going along...you "see" a more "real" story and then paint goes another way?
Stephen King writes about  this... as he begins to put in more and  more details hes creating more context...and then what he thought was going to be the story line changes... on the the creator himself!

You can absolutely paint Gogo, anyone can! Something like this would be ideal for practise as you don't need to worry about shadows or form so much, the model does that for you. That's the problem on paper; getting something to look realistic with shading and the illusion of 3d. Those chalk artists you see doing pavement art where it genuinely looks like someone is falling down a hole are utterly incredible!

Thanks a lot <3

I usually sit in front of the unpainted Miniature for what feels like hours, trying to settle on a colour scheme I like. Sometimes I go with the "Official" Art/Colourscheme, sometimes (Like in the case of this Warrior) I try to draw inspiration from real life:

Unbenannt.jpg.2de2c42218753735fc31d32357524532.jpg

Other times I come up with a colour scheme of my own - or completely start over because I decided I like a different colour more. Perhaps if you are interested, I could open up a new thread and share some of my painted figures?

Obscura, you have a great topic here going already with lots of feedback, and wuv  would it be okay for you to keep publishing your work here? or would you like to start a new topic with a new title? I can even change the title of this topic if you want, but... you really nailed the spirit of community and giving with the current

Oh, I wouldn't mind posting them here. I just figured a new thread would be more fitting, but perhaps you could rename this one into Miniature Painting or something? I also second the suggestion that you give painting a try.

As for the Sharing - File Size is limited to 2MB, and I don't wanna spam the Forum so I'll probably post them over the course of several days :D Gonna start with two Dragons.

The detail on this is just breathtaking... how do you maintain poise to get the sharpness of the scales so vivid

Also you're a heck of a good pic taker

using a real cam or a super phone?

ps also, I see that you found that button for liking posts... yah, kinda difficult to find with Christmas skin and all this snow :4rofl:

Those are incredible! I also just have to say I really appreciate the paint splattered work top. A true artist space ;)

Haha, thanks! Yeah, I usually use the desk to test some paint too - It adds to the vibes of my little artist corner x)

I takes quite a lot of practice to produce the results shown in your photographs. The metallic surfaces look so realistic and the paint is applied so well. I am indeed impressed.

Respect!

:agreed:

Thank you! Most people don't enjoy painting with Metallic Paints, but I do like them a lot - The Gold especially.

Thanks :) Yeah, I found it - I figured the feature was just locked or hidden because I'm a new User. And thanks for the compliments! I'm using my Smartphone to take the pictures. After a while you get a feeling for the ideal lighting, though I also purchased a Light/Photobox a while ago. It does take a while to get used to, but eventually you learn how to control the brush properly. Though I'm (mostly) satisfied with my work - I'm probably at best slightly above average. The people who are really good, the ones who win Awards and Championships...Good God. My work is good, but they are unbelievable. I know you shouldn't compare yourself to the best, but sometimes it's hard. If you're not careful, it's easy to grow bitter about your own work.

Like you are happy with the outcome one moment, then you look at the same model online and now you feel like "Oh, actually mine looks like it was painted by a three year old with two nubs for hands...and severe Parkinson's...."

Here are some other painted Miniatures:

Need to finish the Base, Wing and Staff but I'm fairly happy with how the Eye-Glow turned out.
Here I'm also trying out a Glow-Effect:

One must have a very steady hand for such detailed work and a solid plan in place to have so much realism as a result. It's rewarding when an artist looks with satisfaction at the fruits of their labor, isn't it?
