Faith Hill -> There you'll be

Oh du schöner Westerwald

Folk song about my area.

In 1932 (before Nazi's)  workers were send to the Westerwald area to build a road. They had to walk (marschieren) and it was november. So it was cold and windy. They were there for some weeks and were visitng music and pubs at the villages. Flirting with the local girls often resulted in box fights...

And then there came WW2 and ruined it.

Billy Squier - My Kind of Lover

Max Giesinger - Wenn sie tanzt

A song about a hard working women with 2 kids and no spare time. When she is listening to music she thinks what would have been without the kids, all the places she could have visited... At the end of the song she is dancing with her kids and visits all the places in their fantasy.

Aqua - Barbie Girl

Bettina Wegner -> Kinder (So kleine Hände) / Children (So little hands)

Our third sung this in the church at the christening of her niece, playing guitar.

The east german songwriter who did it had to leave east germany for the last two lines.

Are so small hands, with fingers very little,

one may never beat them, because you will break the middle

Are so small feet, with toes, very slight,

one may never step on them, because they will not go right.

Are so small ears, and very clear,

one may never shout to them, because they will get deaf and cannot hear.

Are so small mouth, which say everything straight and loud ,

one may never prohibit this, otherwise nothing will come out.

Are so clear eyes, which see everthing and all,

one may never blindfold them, because they will fall.

Are so small souls, open and so free,

one may never torment them, because they will close the heart with a key.

Is such a small spine, you cannot see it clear,

one may never bow it, because you will break it and will make fear.

Straight and honest people, is a wonderful goal and aim,

people without spine, we have enough and they can only play a game.

I found this game on another forum. (It's up to 444 pages long there) It looked like it could be fun.

The rules are simple. A song title gets posted and the next person

then posts a different song title but it must contain a word from the previous post.

Here is an example.

SHOUT AT THE DEVIL---MOTLEY CRUE

Twist and Shout - The Beatles

Now you are not restricted to just the song title you can also use a word in the artist/band name.

Another example.

Song Sung Blue ~ Neil Diamond

DIAMOND GIRL----SEALS AND CROFTS

So I will start it off with the first song.

Don't Fear The Reaper ~ Blue Oyster Cult

It's hard to believe that this thread has been going on for 11 years from when I started it. 107 pages of songs.

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Against The Wind

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - Silver And Gold

Pink -> Dear Mr President

Pete Seeger -> Die Gedanken sind frei (Thoughts are free)

Seeger did an English version of the ancient German folk song, keeping the title and refrain.

...My thoughts will not cater
To duke or dictator...
