  1. I thought the quest is meant to drop both rings as a reward.

Yah.. It does - as I found out finally last night. Bloody hackers... To borrow a phrase from the Inquisitor dude... I'd like to send a few hard core Orcs his way... So many posts wiped out by their nonsense...

The data is now up on the wiki.... Hopefully it won't get wiped out a 2nd time.

  2. We DO love backups. ^^ Sadly though the backup they used from the 12th or 13th so there is some data loss on our end. They opted to go that far back even though they had more recent backups to reduce the chance of possible backdoors left inside of a recent backup... On top of that it turns out that the backups I have are of the 13th so using them in this case won't help. I thought I had more recent than that but I guess I dreamed up that last backup I did, lol. I think for the most part what was lost is the several quests that were done on the wiki. I know that some effort was being put into the Quest section of the wiki and I'm VERY sorry for that loss guys. I know how tough quests can be to write. :4rofl:

On the whole and given the situation I think things worked out very well. But next time I can assure you that it will work out much much better. We're going to see about automating daily database backups on our end that will be sent to two different email accounts for storage and I'll download a full backup probably once a week or whenever some major change is made.

It's good to be back. :thumbsupsmiley:

Feh... The edits I made previously were OK.. But they could have been written better. So I did it better the 2nd time around. Fortunately, I had the page open on another machine so I could see what I wrote and could use the bits from there on the one I was editing the page with. Either way, Gogo and I were just PM'ing about how the infamous Epic Office Quest could use a bit of a rewrite anyhow...

p.s. Wolfie, you made it back home, sanity included! :woot:

Yah.. I did... But it was a close one! If that last employee wasn't the last one I was quite ready for a vacation.

  3. There's that set all characters can wear - Kayser's Luck - that consists of two rings - Benny's Promise and Ellen's Commitment.

Benny's Promise is easy enough to get - go talk to Benny in the Fortress after the Epic Office Quest is under way and he'll drop it. But Ellen's Commitment - assuming that's his finance or at least girlfriend - is there another fixed character who drops the other ring or is it one of those random things like most of the other drops in the game?

  4. Ok, if its not the cisacred mod then its Ice and Blood...I must have forgotten what the gui looks like by default...whoops :D So yeah, you have the expansion installed, they must have changed how it works.

Hmmm.. So the Ice and Blood expansion drops a whole world of FUGLY on Sacred 2...? And removes the Chain Quest feature..? Hmmm.. You'd think developers would make things BETTER as time goes along, not worse.

  5. OK.. Well... Let us know when you do get it back or get the version info.

The reason I ask - if you look at the left side of the quest log on the pics I posted, The Arena in the Clouds quest shows up as a chain quest - the primary is to the left, the subquests are indented one tab's worth.

Notice that the Researcher quest on my screenshot is also a chain quest with the subquests of Crystal Monster and Studies of Ice Elementals. On your screenshot, we've got one quest called Researcher and one called Stone Creature Studies. I'm going to guess that the quests consist of the same thing - in one, you have to harvest the crystals from ice elementals and in the other, you have to get the crystals from the stone critters running around on the island (not like there's that much of a choice - those are the two primary targets on the island).

That, and the color/font selection on the two of them are entirely different.

So I've got to wonder what you've got.

  6. Today I noticed something very odd...or perhaps perfectly normal :)

When my seraphim receives set items as a quest reward these tend to be...for a seraphim. However, every now and then she'll receive either 2 set items in 1 go or an item for another character class, and this is when it struck me. Up till now all of the set items I have received from quests were for characters I actually have in my roster. Up till now that was 2 seraphim's and a temple guardian I plan to train up to be smith and the set items were only for these 2 classes. Last weekend I created a dryad mule and now all of a sudden I'm getting dryad items as well.

    Is this a known phenomenon?

Update: just got 2 items from 1 quest(yay!), 1 for the high elf and 1 for the inquisitor...neither of which I have in my roster :gun2:

So either my theory is bonkers or it is time for an altogether different theory positing the existence of a gaming devil whose sole purpose is to mess with my mind...

I dunno. Most of the stuff you get is for your character. There are a few spots, however, the consistently drop the same item - I forget where exactly - but there's one quest I've gotten a Niko's shield every time I've done/redone it. In fact, I've gotten a glut of those shields - all of which (except 2) are the same level, same stats though the prices varied. I kept the most expensive and dumped the rest of them.

Oddly enough, in all the drops I've gotten, I can't recall too many, if any, for the Temple Guardian -and I've got TWO game slots occupied by TG builds. You'd think that would perhaps bias things in favor of the TG...

  7. Well I must mention that I picked the Seraphim as my favorite character as shes propably the most flexible toon in Sacred 2. The TG is propably the most hopeless character in Sacred 2, maybe it's my style of play but it doesn't seemed to be a good choice for either combat or magic use. If they do a Sacred 3 I hope they sort out the camera angles in caves etc. As they really suck big time. :gun2:

I'll have to 2nd that - camera angles in caves bites big wind. It's like without fail, you get dumped into a cave and there's a section of wall right there in the way - of course, some baddy is wailing on your behind and you can't see what's going on to do anything about it. Really HATE when that happens.

  8. Aha!

lol, took you guys off guard, huh? Well...what about this. Could it work? I keep seeing ads for Dungeons and Dragons Online... Free to play... blah blah blah...

Free games like this, like Requiem offer a tremendous amount of Download Content...and the worlds could be huge.

They would quite probably trade out best-end graphics but get back insane levels of content, maybe less of a time restriction to "complete" a product, and most importantly... the "reach" of something like this would/could be enormous.

    Yay or Nay?

    :P

    gogo

A browser based game would blow harder than Hurricane Katrina... And not in a good way.

You'd have to LOSE so many features - like the 3D scrolling environment from Sacred 2 and probably even the pseudo 3D from Sacred 1 and drop down to Super Mario Brothers style to make it downloadable for the masses. Unfortunately, FIOS or cable modems are not ubiquitous yet and are a LONG way from becoming so. I am assuming that DeepSilver are in business to make money.

Imagine having to wait half an hour for a particular bit of the game to load... I'm all for SOME ad supported games like the stuff you find on MSN/Live, but as long as the ads don't last more than 30 seconds or so. 30 minutes would be a nightmare. NO serious gamer would want to put up with that kinda thing.

Nah.. Super Mario Bros was cool when it came out - but it's so... 90's..

For Sacred 3 to really rock - it has to deliver graphics and game play that are at the very least as good as Sacred 2 - preferably BETTER.

  9. In case anyone wants to know... I've just uploaded the quest log screen shot for Demons, More Demons and Even More Demons.

    Here they are in order...

    th_Demons.jpg

Note the teleport button on the bottom right...

    th_MoreDemons.jpg

Ditto - Teleport button, bottom right.

    th_evenmoredemons.jpg

The final chapter - done. No more TP button...

Edit: Oh.. Yeah.. These pics are also part of the SacredWiki entry for this quest... It's now mostly complete. Just one more final tweak left...

  10. The employee name is Jan Walzcak. I just got the quest, it is given by an historian to find a book. And I'm already blanking on the title. The ghost something or other.

I just finished this quest chain. The first one is titled The Ghost Village. The employee does not appear in the game world until after you complete the whole quest chain. The explamation point does appear on the world map, but not on the mini-map until this chain is completed.

So far, this is the only quest in which the player needs to complete a quest before being able to talk to the employee.

The reason that the guy doesn't appear until AFTER the Ghost Village quest is done is because when you cross the gateway into the villiage, you're technically in a different realm - the one of perpetual darkness. Once you've killed off the Evocator boss, and complete the quest, the game returns you to the normal world. I assume you noticed the teleportation noise as you crossed over and when you completed the mission.

There's also ONE other mission that kinda requires another quest to be completed. Oddly enough, it's due north of the Ghost Village. There's one guy up in the Crag Rock area and in order to get to him, you have to go through the Banshee who's hanging out in the cave you need to go through to get to Crag Rock.

Yes, I know there's the southern cave path but I believe the door is locked until you go talk to the sword master and his daughter and defeat the Thraconian who stole the crown and go back to talk to the daughter again.

  11. Ah, Wolfie, I'll tell Brad about this. We know that a lot of the links have to be changed now... what I'll do is have him get to you on this?

We can all pitch in on putting in new coordinates

    :P

    gogo

OK.. I can do that. I suppose I can pitch in. As soon as I figure out how to get coordinates to link properly...

I already added one factoid on the previously mentioned dragon. And linked it to the Garema Ghost Warriors who have a similar cloaking capability. Unfortunately the GGW's page doesn't mention that part either. That's the kind of useful info that might be found if you dig deep enough here on DM, or happen upon it accidentally - like I did... But is nowhere to be found on the Wiki...

Speaking of which... I just updated the GGW's page on the wiki to reflect their ability to cloak. I borrowed some info from the thread on DM for it.

  12. Oy... Guys.. I can see there's some serious KP work to be done with a.) this post and b.) the SacredWiki links.

Just for grins and giggles clicked on the Gyrvim Island dragon - in Schot's original post and the map link takes you to the old maplib.net link. The wiki's link likewise goes to maplib.net.

Now that the map is hosted locally and the one on maplib.net is coughing up errors saying we don't have permission to view said resource, it's about as useless as a screen door on a submarine. I'd do it myself, but I'm not able to modify someone else's post on here (nudge, nudge, hint, hint @ Schot) and I'm not quite sure how to generate a link to the map so you get the right coordinates so I could tweak the link in the Wiki to point it to the right spot.

  13. For me... It's all fine and dandy to read the sage advice posted here - but until you've actually PLAYED the game for a while with multiple characters a bit, there's an element missing. It's like not having your enough of your own personal experience points - know what I mean? My first charcter was a temple guardian - and he was a shot in the dark, fumbling blindly for the most part. He did OK until I got up to that big nasty dragon in the caves under the ocean.. My beginner's luck ran out and eventually, the game got hosed. Needless to say - it was worth the learning experience.

Anyhow..Now that I've played the game for a while, my understanding of things is much better. Now, when I read discussions on skills or CAs or whatever, I have a much better grasp of what's being said and I can actually make use of the info in the articles. I'm now at level 47 on the Dryad Islands. With any luck I'll be done with the quests soon and will be off to the wastelands and the final challenges in the next week or two.

  14. Time to post this one up. I've been holding onto this pic I made of the Abishai's traps for a while now. Lil too long of a while in fact. When I first fought the Abishai I was imediately impressed with all the little trps it could pull off. He's quite a complex opponent. With all those different traps and their numeric variables fluying around it makes for quite a dangerous, and challenging scenario. Each trap by itself is of minimal threat but in combination we're looking at a deadly cocktail. A split second under the influence of just a few of the traps can mean the ned of a character.

With that in mind, having some foreknowledge the opponent you're about to face is always nice to have. I've been trying to figure out what each of the Abishai's powers/traps does to a character and I'm having a hard time. If anyone can help me out on this one I would love to know what the traps do. On the picture I've numbered the traps and I'm adding info as each trap is figured out.

Oh and if you don't want to have to go through the whole Blood quest to fight the Abishai then you can fight it in the Jungle. No questing required. You'll just need to use the mount trick to get past the "out of bounds" perimeter to reach it.

Pic of Abishai location in Jungle:

    th_JungleAbishai.jpg

Welp.. As an FYI for anyone interested - the area above does exist in Sacred 2: Fallen Angel 2.43 - but the boss monsters, however, do NOT. These are Ice and Blood ONLY... Outside of a few panthers - regular and champion level - the area is quite devoid of anything interesting - except for maybe the END of the world. More exactly, The map of Ancaria ends near the southern border of that vast empty space.

The Mount trick is pretty much as was described elsewhere. However, to make it to the area in question, you have to use your CA (Shadow Step, for instance) to get there. The entire area until you actually reach the open space is of the "off limits" variety - meaning you have to use the CA to get through it.

  15. Sent

Pete, yer getting the hang of it, the detailed info is rich, good detailing

    :)

    gogo

Thanks... Welp.. Here's an update... The quests listed above are now at least done, for the most part, in text form. There will be screen-shots coming... But not tonight.

The quests you can add to the "in progress" category are:

    Orc Trouble

    On Kinrch's Heels

    Deficci In the Desert

    Maryta Deffici

And a couple of more general quests:

    The Arena in the Clouds

    Delivery

    Tending the Poor

As a side note... If anyone's played through the desert area with a light side character OTHER than the high elf and have gone by the DeElfici store (next to the spot where you meet the uncle who would be king who gives you the quest to retrieve the scroll from the cave and to kill the Garganthropod), did you happen across Viola DeElfici and did she have any quests (Namely "Delivery" and "Tending the Poor"? I'm guessing the two quests are open to all light bound characters. But.. I could be wrong. So if you've got any info - please let me know. I've made up my mind - I'm close to the end of the game with the High Elf - just need to do the Dryad island and Wastelands and I'm done. It may take me a while to get another character that far along.

Just can't see the Inquisitor handing out gold to peasants... More than likely would run off with it like he's done so many other times.

  16. My Shadow Warrior uses Skeleton Fortress and they can't avoid that even if they do their ghost impersonation. Nether Allegience soldiers would probably target them as well I expect. I also know that other CAs work against them, such as;

    Radiant Pillar for Seraphim,

    Malevolent Totem for Dryad,

Gust of Wind/Energy Blaze/Dragon Strike for Dragon Mage,

Blazing Tempest/Glacial Thorns for High Elf,

    Clustering Maelstrom for Inquisitor,

Charged Grid/Fiery Ember/Icy Evanescence for Temple Guardian.

Every character has at least 1 CA that will work against them, even in ghost from.

I've also noticed that the High Elf's Cobalt Strike - while you can't target them directly, if you've got it set to do a chain lightning thing - will hit them on the 2nd or 3rd reflection. Just target a convenient panther, turtle, other non-cloaked Garema warrior or other baddie and zap 'em and it should bounce and nail the cloaked Ghost warrior(s).

  17. I'm noticing the Light side High Elf specifc quests are lacking on the list. The last one listed is "The end of TyBosso" - but there are more quests. The HE's blue quests go all the way to the Jungle (at least, in Sacred 2:FA 2.43)...

Missing quests following The End of Tybosso:

    Orc Trouble

    On Kinrch's Heels

    Deficci In the Desert

    Maryta Deffici

  18. Search this area, there really is a pile of electric poo. I don't know about a quest though.

    NewBitmapImage.jpg

Hey Loco - would that be up near the spider cave? The one you have to go to Skook's Corner to get the key for? There does seem to be something on the ground - and it's fizzling... Doesn't do any real damage though. Not very scary either.. looks more like a mini volcano tho...

  19. Haven't done this quest myself and it isn't also described at the wiki.

Are you sure the questname is the customer? Isn't it Lost, where an orc is lost near East Turbak and wanted to go to the coast to get a boat?

In most cases you can use the resurrection monolith, but unfortunately the nearest one near Turbak is the one at Tharum.

Just use the commands stay near me and attack as group. In that way he stays right behind you. Be sure that you stay before him all the time.

Not quite 100% sure.. BUT.. I think he's possibly refering to Adventure Tours - the one where you meet Capt Jack Karrow on the beach who wants you to take his client on a tour... First you gotta take him to East Turbak, then down to Scorpion Island - where THE most venomous scorpions hang out and dig up some treasure and then back to Capt Jack.

If that's the case.. It ain't easy. He's one of those NPCs you have to escort that tend to run like headless chickens and the baddies in the area tend to view as lunch. They go chasing after HIM, instead of having their attention on you. So you'd have to chase after the scorpions, turtles and sand people who are chasing after him - all while making your way to the target areas... Not so easy. It's enough to make you wanna scream! :D

I kinda got lucky in the first part when I ran the quest... He eventually ran right into East Turbak - the first stop so it was a question of taking the initiative and running inside. On the 2nd leg, not so much. He kept going further away and got himself killed.

No easy way to go about this one. Ranged weapons are almost mandatory, also combat arts that can do damage at a range. If you've got the Shadow Warrior, reflective emmanation is a must - along with the mod that allows you to pass RE on to your party members. Make sure that one's cranked WAY up to 11...!

Edit: Oh.. and actually... The nearest monolith is halfway between Tharum and Badawi.. Not helpful at all...
