  1. Well there's also this in the same file...I ignored that because the other bit seemed like it gave a sensible answer, but maybe the different factors mentioned here and possibly others in the server could have effected it. Also, the penalty may be to the base experience or the experience after all bonuses from gear and stuff are factored in...but I really dont know)

Doesn't the opponent's level factor into this as well? Especially how it relates to your character?

Seems to me a baddy with a red ring under his feet is worth more points than one with a white one. I've seen enemies that had red rings give significantly more points and when I leave the area and come back later after I've leveled up significantly, those same enemies are now white and don't give more than 1 - 2 XP.

An easy test - pop into a portal and go back to western Tyr-Lysa and take a look at the turtles hanging out on the Gold Coast. I'll wager they're all shakin' in their shells and if you hit one, I'll bet his experience points are gonna suck.

  2. Oh gawds.. Not Lightsabers Anonymous...

I can just see a meeting...

Moderator: "Welcome to the Thylsyium branch of Lightsabers Anonymous! Anyone want to share?"

Inquisitor stands up: "Hi.. My name is Bob.. I'm a lightsaber addict."

    Crowd: "Hi Bob.."

Bob: I got my first lightsaber in a trade with a merchant in the deserts of Western Bangaresh from this wise old trader named Obitwo something or other... Since then I've been obsessed with getting more and more powerful ones. My personal chest is stuffed full of them I got rid of every other thing of value. My Shared Storage is also clogged with nothing but Lightsabers. I just can't stop collecting them. Every gold piece I've collected has gone into buying them. My armor is the cheapest gray level armor money can buy. I couldn't get enough of them - I even got the dual wield skill so I could have two of them at all times. At first, it was great! I was mowing down enemies left and right. But after a while I got into deep trouble. I invested all my skill points in DW and I find myself getting killed off by level 20 kobolds. Now, I'm stuck in the Orc territories trying to get my act together. It's been rough."

  3. 199.4% chance to reflect melee, CAs & stun? Yeah, I'd say that's a bug. Especially if it sticks with you after a log out/in. The question is, is that a display bug or is your character really getting that much reflection. And is it a display bug where you're getting less reflection (it's not applying diminishing returns properly, so those would be the x+y per level figures from Spells.txt) than stated or you're not getting any reflection (& those figures weren't removed last time you logged out)? Without access to the bug database it's hard to say if it's a known bug or not (it's certainly the first I've seen of it).

Eh.. I'm thinknig it's intentional... Try this scenario on for size. This is a multiplayer game with a Shadow Warrior and a High Elf. The SW casts Reflective Emanation - with RE modded with "Idol" - meaning the RE is shared with all party members.

So there you are with your party and are going up against a particularly nasty boss monster. The guy playing Shadow Warror's computer crashes for whatever reason, knocking him off the server. so there's the poor high elf, left alone to battle the big bad boss until his partner returns. That might take a few minutes. It would kinda suck, don't you think, if the HE got killed - especially if the game was in Hard Core mode. By leaving the buff in place, it gives the other player a chance to do whatever (reboot, restart the game, reconnect, etc..) to get back, hopefully before it's too late.

Of course, I could be wrong - but it at least makes some sense...

  4. Hey guys.

In the orc region, there is a quest to be picked up in the eastern village (village NE before all the boar rider goblins heading east from orc portals) sorry I forget the name, will edit later with infos.

Anyway, in the hut you talk to some orc about a puzzle for inheritance. You then are sent to a cave west of the settlement, where in there is what looks a chessboard.

There is a puzzle in the logbook, and a male orc on the board, a boar and a female orc.

You can 'talk' to them all once (they all have a ! over them, so only one click each).

I have tried so many diff things, talking in diff orders, etc, and eventually I am stumped.

For note, they don't say anything when clicked, and only appear in this cave after you accept the quest.

After you click them, they seem to summon ghosts, then nothing, while a treasure room is very clearly locked, and there is definitely a puzzle to be solved.

I checked the Wiki, and nadda.

    Anyone every figured this out?

    Thanks,

    Strangly enough, yes.

The chief of the town of Thrak wants you to find his dead brother's treasure. So you follow the clues (quest arrow) to the cave and go inside. Get rid of the albino rats, and you find yourself in a room with what appears to be a giant chess board. You've got a board with Orc pieces and human ones.

Now, the clues and such are just about as transparent as super dense neutronium. I just lucked out. I walked in and clicked on the rook/castle character closest to the entry into the room in the row closest to the Orc player. The rook thing started moving across the board toward the human side. The completed quest indicator triggered and the door was open. Inside the room there's a book - that's the quest goal.

I don't know which quest you're talkind about. Can you give us a scrrenshot of the questbook?

    CU Marcus

I'm not quite 100% sure how he's managed to do this... but that red ring seems to be in the area where you get recruited to purge the mine of ghosts. (Mine Blockade - http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Mine_Blockade ) and the other is Haunted Mine - ( http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Haunted_Mine ) where you have to put the six comrades of the miner out of their undead misery and then kill the pirate who killed them.

The real trick to all of this - how can he fail a mission when he hasn't gone ANYWHERE near the area in question? Last I checked, you have to be right outside the mine to get Mine Blockade and have to go through to the other end of the mine to get the other.

  6. I'm having problems getting all of the quests done in the north east end of Artamark - namely the Artamark Gate area, the forgotten valley, the ghost villiage, and the surrounding areas.

Not quite sure what is going on but here's the symptoms. First, the main map stops displaying completely. Most of the time the only elements that show are the big cities, boss monsters defeated, and major landmarks (Temples of God and such). The "undiscovered" areas (normally gray) and roads do NOT show, even if I've travelled over them countless times. All I see in the background is my character (doesn't matter which one) and the surroundings.

The only fix - save the game with F9, exit all the way out to Windows and restart the game.

Now then, it gets worse. The save games, after a while, refuse to load. I go through the boot sequence, the spam session, the opening menu. I select Single Player game and click on Load Character. It sits there for a good long while and then dumps me out to Windows.

If I go no further than the Pointed Peak mission (where you find the map for the unique mounts and deliver the message to hold the fort to the guys on top of the peak, I'm good. I can make it through the rest of the western part of Artamark, the Orc region, Seraphim region, the Carnach cave region, and I'm now into the swamps in the east.

And strangely enough - I'm NOT having any of the above mentioned issues with the map, nor the save games... (knocking on wood here...!)

I'm running Windows 7 fully patched, the US version of Sacred 2 2.43 in Windows XP SP3 compatability mode.

My system is an Athlon 64 X2 4200+ chip, 3 GB DDR 400 RAM with a 1TB WDC hard drive.

Anyone seen anything remotely similar? Would getting an EU copy of Sacred 2 and Ice and Bloood and the CM Patch possibly fix any of this? It kinda sux big wind having to avoid that area to keep my game from blowing chunks... Thus far, I've lost 2 Temple Guardians and a Seraphim and a High Elf to this issue. Fortunately, I was able to restore a previous version of my High Elf and have been able to get around the problem.

Could it be something to do with the number of missions in a given chapter? I've noticed that the Orc, Seraphim Island, dragon cave regions don't have a lot of side quests to speak of.

  7. I could never work that out either, until I asked on this forum and some kind people told me how. So I am glad to be able to help you as they helped me.

You need to hold down the Ctrl Key as well. Print Screen just saves the screen itself, while Ctrl + Print Screen saves all the open menus and icons overlaid on the screen.

Sweet! I was kinda thinkin' about contributing a bit to the wiki myself seeing how there's a LOT of quests that come back to pages that don't exist... DOH! Seeing how I'm working my way thru the 3rd - 5th chapters now... That'll come in downright handy. Thanks!

  8. Thanks Loco, but I am going to have to do this the hard way. I am stupid I know, but it just doesn't feel the same if I get given them. It is like as if I am collecting things, having them is nice, but having hunted them down and found them myself is special. For example I am trying to collect pictures of all the unique items in the game. When I find such an item, I take a screenshot to add to the collection. I could find those pictures on Sacred Wiki for example, but I would have just have copied them, 'I wouldn't have earned them', so they would mean nothing to me.

Ok.. Slightly off topic - and likely a silly question - but I gotta ask. Whenever I hit the printscreen key to grab a screen shot with my inventory open, the inventory window, the controls at the bottom and corners vanish and the resulting screen shot shows nothing more than my character and his/her surroundings. Same goes if I've got the log book open. How DO you get a screenshot with the inventory open so you can get the stats of a weapon or of the log book?

Btw.. Extreme bummer about losing your characters. I've had a few issues myself with save games becoming unusable. I've lost a few characters that way so far. One level 29 TG, one level 40 TG and a level 26 Seraphim. But that's another issue all together - needless to say - I feel your pain. Sux having to go back to the start and schlep through the early parts of the game all over again.

  9. I know that the HE say "I will turn you into a torch, goblin". I haven't heard they say that also to humans.

To humans they often say things like "you must serve me, human" and "where is your respect, human"

I think it doesn't matter if you play as HE in the light or shadow campaign. I play myself with one in the light campaign.

I've heard the "good" HE say stuff like "Who let you off your chains?" And yet, when facing the Broker in Orcish Byway, she is against slavery...

  10. The thing is that you'll end up meeting bosses with 1M+ hp, and your 9 LL won't mean much then, if that was 9% LL the boss was dead in 12 hits or less( if your normal damage is also quite good)

Yah.. 9% would rock - but then again, how many million point bosses do you run into on bronze? Thus far I've barely gotten to the Seraphim Island and the bosses I've come across haven't really been all that bad...

EDIT: Whoops.. I spoke WAAAAY too soon. DAMN! That Xanthier dragon is one mean Barsteward...! GAAAAAH! :)

Found an upgrade to that bow... This one has 12+ LL and a higher damage rating.

  11. I lost my level 12 HC Seraphim in the stupidest way I could have ever dreamed of. I had just killed a load of skellies as part of the Blind Guardian quest and pressed the 'Alt' key to see what loot was lying around, but accidentally pressed the 'Windows' key next to it by mistake. By the time it went to desktop and I got back into the game (chewing my fingernails to the elbow at how long it was taking), I got the visuals back just in time to watch more skellies walking away from my seraphim's corpse! :(

I really, really, REALLY hate when that happens... That's why I dug up an ancient copy of WinKeyKiller off the web. It's free. It still works with Windows 7 (presume it works with XP, Vista and everything between going back to 95). It doesn't suck up a bunch of resources. And prevents whoopsies that can cost your charcters dearly. Google is your friend.

My actual reason for getting it had to do with a problem I was having with Sacred 1... Every time I hit the bloody key, the game would go fubar - I'd hit the desktop and then go back into the game and the screen would be black. I could lose potentially hours of game play. I also used it to disable the Alt-Tab combo - sometimes I'd be looking to see what got dropped (Alt) and would pop up the map (tab) to see where I wanted to go next - and sometimes hit both a the same time. :) The config for the utility will let you disable that as well.

  12. Well I play a Seraphim most of the time, but for actual personality I'd go with the HE. She tends to be very confident of her abilites with good reasons as she could level a small town with her magic abilities. :) 'That was fun, or would you disagree loser' Always liked that. :(

Er... I could have sworn she says "That was fun, or would you disagree USER"... She seems to be more interactive with the person behind the controls than the other characters. I could be wrong tho... I'll have to crank the volume up a bit and listen a bit closer...

At any rate, she reminds me of a cross between the old Battle Mage from Sacred 1 and a Jewish American Princess - "I'm a fragile high elf - how am I supposed to carry THAT?" He too was quite cocky for his britches at times.

It's my favourite quote, but it could be user, but I prefer loser. :D

Well.. Ok.. If you must.. But if you think about some of the other things she says - something to the effect of "Congratulations Player, the quest compass has helped you arrive at your destination..." - you can see what I'm talkin' about.

  13. Well I play a Seraphim most of the time, but for actual personality I'd go with the HE. She tends to be very confident of her abilites with good reasons as she could level a small town with her magic abilities. 'That was fun, or would you disagree loser' Always liked that. :D

  14. If you had a chance to spend a day with the character you thought had the most personality which one would it be and why?

I'll have to go with the High Elf... Gods..! She's got a mouth on her... Only she could tell the Orc leader that his deodorant wasn't working.. AND get away with it. Sheesh... :)

All in all, she's a bit of a prima donna. But she's funny.

Of course, being a lowly huiman I'd likely be roped into being her mule.

  15. Okay, perhaps forens-consecrated or -sanctified would have been the better translation

It's sometimes kinda wierd what these translators give you back ... :)

    CU Marcus

Might be fairer to say "Forens aligned" character...

I know what you mean about translators... Did a beta a while back and was responding to someone in Chinese. The bloody translator somehow managed to mangle "Release Candidate" into "Reinforced Concrete..." :agreed:

  16. Just Did This Quest And I Was A little Confused......

This Char Is A Light Side Temple Guardian....And I Still Had To Kill Mary Ann And Her Husband?

No.. When you go inside and rescue the zombie boyfriend, you then need to make your way to Orpheus' lair and have a chat with the bugger. When you talk to him, there are two options - join Orpheus or Kill Orpheus. If you choose the former, yes, the object of the quest is to eliminate both Mary Ann and the zombie boy toy. If you choose to decline Orpheus' offer, then you have to kill Orpheus and then make your way outside of the cave.

As soon as you exit, the zombie boyfriend transforms to a normal living elf dude. Talk to him and he will thank you for saving him and give you points.

  17. Does the CM Patch actually fix that quest for that guy in the Merchant's house in Orcish Byway? The shady guy who wants to make you a deal you can't refuse - and you wind up in a field with a completed quest that you didn't really get any explanation for.

Can you give me a more detailed description, screenshot or anything else to find that quest? Light or shadow?

    CU Marcus

    Marcus -

The mission is called "Honesty Pays" and can be found in Orcish Byway - in the building where the Merchant at the bottom of the hill hangs out.

You talk to him and he's got such a business proposition for you but he can't talk about it there so he wants you to follow him. You go outside, around the back of the building and you find yourself on a farm. Your character says as much and that's the end of the mission. The guy who issued you the quest vanishes and it's pretty much the end of the road on that one. It's like Holy Hannah!? Was there a point to this mission?

In the log book, it looks like the begining of a chain quest but there's nothing more.

  18. Ack...

At the moment, all I've got is the US version - meaning I can't install Ice and Blood - and can't install the CM patch. Looks like it'll be close to the end of the month before I get the funds together to get the necessary version... Oh well. Guess I'm going to have to be very careful. And I suppose I can get through things with one fubared quest.

As a side note - just curious... Does the CM Patch actually fix that quest for that guy in the Merchant's house in Orcish Byway? The shady guy who wants to make you a deal you can't refuse - and you wind up in a field with a completed quest that you didn't really get any explanation for.

  19. Two quests give gray rewards, one is found near the docks in Thylysium (you get it off a woman asking about her lost husband) and the other at Teardrop Hamlet (this one is off a kid who wants his balloon back). The Easter Egg quest can actually give you some nice rewards, though I have heard of people crashing out of game if they enter the final cave. Good luck :)

Actually... It's kinda close - but it's not the one with the balloon. The quest you were thinking of is the one where the kid, who's standing next to the player chest is sobbing because the candy merchant won't give her/him candy. You go down there, and look menacing and the guy coughs up some candy for the kid. You go back to the kid and he/she gives you some of the loot in a basket.

And of course, you get the mandatory lecture on how candy's bad for your teeth... That quest was no doubt sponsored by the American Dental Association...

The balloon quest giver kid is on the move - north/south throughout the town and won't stop till you solve the quest.

  20. On my way to Griffinborough, I came across the guy under the bridge with the sad tale of woe about his being kicked out of town and how his kid was getting hitched.

So I bopped back up onto the bridge and went across. For whatever reason, the game did NOT kick off the trigger when you get to the front of the guy's former house. So I bopped around to the back and clicked on the tree stump. Nothing happened. So I looked at the map - lo and behold, the quest indicator is still in front of the guy's house. So I go back, the game triggers and now I've got the indicator pointing at the tree stump.

The only problem is - the stump is now dead. It's no longer clickable. DOH!

Anyone got any ideas on how to revive this quest? Or is it permanently fubar?

  21. I think it has to be a corrupted saved game. Originally I started my first Seraphim in the US version of Fallen Angel then got the Gold version and transferred my saved games into it. Neither the Seraphim nor the Shadow Warrior were changed and both had their original skin tones. It is rather odd that only her skin color and not her armor changed color though. I noticed that you patched with both a US patch and a UK patch. Could that be the source of your problem?

Simple way to check if it's a hosed save game - Launch the game and create a new version of your existing character. Seraphim looking like she could use a few weeks in a tanning bed? Create a new one. Does the new one look "normal" or bleached?

  22. lol...I think someones had a little too much to drink.

Yep... Didn't quite get it until I had at least one lovely adult beverage...

    :D

Btw... To those wondering, the "Scribe 'Gauntlets' of Atheron" aren't Gauntlets - they're the bracers you get for completing the quest for the ghost in the Griffinborough cemetery. I just happen to have a few of my builds going through that part of Ancaria and still happened to have the ones I got from the chronicler in Black Oaks for completing the quest "The Spirit of Atheron". The only difference - the Chronicler's set was worth 19,000 odd gold while the one generated by the code was worth 21,000 odd gold.

Oh.. and if I can figure out how to get a screen shot of the items - I can paste 'em up somewhere and give a link... Thus far, whenever I hit the printscreen key, the inventory dialog vanishes and none of that gets saved.

  23. That's the easter quest. It starts at the temple in thylysium, then go further at clearview and finally it ends up in Grunwald in Artamark. The reward from the bunny is a couple of ears with some nice enchantments on it. You probably also find some other items and a pile of gold (got myself also some amulets, armor pieces and some weapons) Did this quest a few times. Got no crashes though as soon as I entered the cave. Did it with a seraphim and a high elf.

1.) Actually, it's the Inquisition HQ where it starts... The temple is right next door.

2.) It's not a bunny that gives you the rewards - it's the giant chicken that you help hatch from the brain egg... But you DO get bunny ears and they actually have halfway decent armor value.

3.) I haven't had a crash there either. Done as both Temple Guardian and Seraphim.

Oh yah.. Seraphim Playboy Bunny build time!:heart::heart:
