  1. I am getting close to performing a Stealth upgrade. Stealth upgrades are when you buy something when the spouse is not looking. The wife is away for a few months and I can see a bit of extra money coming down the pipe.

But still--I don't want to break the bank. I am looking for a card that will allow me to play Sacred 2 and perhaps other titles at med to high graphics levels. I want to stay in the $100 to $150 range (which kind of puts the 4870 out of my budget) but if I can get something cheaper it's good. I will not be playing Crysis, lol.

I'd go with a Nvidia 9800 GTX. I would have bought one instead of my 8800 GTS, buit it would not fit in my case without relocating a hard drive.... What ever you but make sure there is room in the case, and that your p[ower supply can handle it...

  2. Find a local computer shop (not a big box store) and tell them you want a top-of-the-line gaming rig. They will discuss the requirements with you, give you options on the individual components, and (this is the best part) warraty and LOCAL service when something goes wrong.

Try to find a shop that has been in business for a while, and ALWAYS check with the Better Business Bureau when you are looking to spend big bucks.

  3. You are not alone. Lots of folks have had trouble updating.

The following suggestions have helped people avoid problems installing the patch, it is recommended that if you do need to reinstall and repatch, that you do these things:

o Uninstall Sacred 2 using Windows add/remove programs.

o Revoke your activation (this can generally be done as a prompt during the uninstall process).

o Make sure any temporary files are removed, by manually deleting any old temporary or log files (note that you must be able to view hidden & system files to see them, locations depend on your computer configuration).

o When you reinstall the game use the default settings.

o Download the patch and SAVE it to your hard drive, then install.

o When you install the patch, make sure you do not have any other applications running, especially anti-virus programs.

Saved games are in a folder named Ascaron Entertainment. I can't remember if uninstalling deletes the saved games or not, make a copy to be on the safe side.

  4. One of the 'unlockable' crypts is just north of the cemetary. You can only get to it from the cemetary. The other is in the cemetary fenced area, on the east side, just south of the main gate to the cemetary.

Thanks for the info about the dark side quests. I'm trying to decide whether to play the dark side with my undressed dryad, or load The Witcher and play it.

  5. I suspect if you've collected 7 out of 8, that you failed to pick up one somewhere (I had this happen to me in another quest in another land). You have two choices,

    a) retrace the general area where you already found the wool, and look for the "drop" that you did not collect, then pick it up,

    or

    b) forget about it and move on...

  6. Hi. There are two crypts in the Shadowy Catacombs that are locked (no icon appears on the gates when I phold my mouse over them). Are these areas I should be able to explore? I'm playing the Seraphim at bronze dfficulty.

Oh, is the 'dark' campaign very different from the 'light' campaign?

    regards,

    fleet
