  1. You see mead (Met) a lot on christmas markets here in germany.

    Different variants:

normal mead: can be drunken warm or cold, a local bee-keeper does selfmade one and it is around 15% alcohol and tasting like honey

Wikingerblut: viking blood: the beekeeper makes it by fermenting a mix of cherries and honey, can be drunken warm or cold. At Markets it is often a mix of 8% alcohol mead and cherry juice added.

Drachenblut: dragon blood, local variant, Drachenblut is often a mix of sparkling wine and red wine in other areas of germany it. At our local christmas markets it is like Wikingerblut, but spices (a bit sharper/hotter than for Glühwein added), served hot

    ...

Lot of other funny names describing variants, but they are not mead because the honey is not fermented:

Bärenfang- wiki translation is misleading. Even a Fang means to catch/trap something in german, the german hunter language uses Fang as for long teeth of predators or knives formed like teeth- Bärenfang is honey put in Schnappes till it is absorbed, then several bitter herbs added, easy to be selfmade. Mainly drunk at boar (bruno got killed, so no bears here) hunts when nearly 100 people work together.

Picture of a Hirschfänger (Hirsch = deer, which was used by hunters to do death blows to deers who were only wounded by poor shooting of the noble people.

Laws in my area demand that hunters need to carry a pointed weapon to do death blows if there are people around. My weapon, which I had to use several times because of boars, deers injured by cars, is a Saufeder (translated as pig feather, meaning a boar spear). Wikpedia is wrong again:

    Old Saufeder:

    saufeder-2-b.jpg

Used for milleniums, the Saufeder is the featherlike point, while the whole spear was called Ger (ger men = germans). There is wool or feathers attached below the point, so running blood doesn't reach the hands and makes them slippery (you never see that in movies, but it was there).

    New Variant:

This the stick has to be sticked together and then the point is added. The point has a second use as a knife. The stick can be used as a walking/wandering stick if the point is removed. The weapon is just used to kill an injured boar from a bit more distance when shooting is not possible.

I love the Drachenblut! I can't wait to get back to Germany to get some good Mead again! On the topic of good drinks...anyone here ever had Karhu III from Finland? I love it! And they have the greatest keg EVER!!

  2. I understand that in-game is a HUGE thing, and it wouldn't be an issue if Sacred (original) didn't lose all it's servers. I am actually PLAYING the game I'm applying for...just not online! xD I did actually read through everything as far as the application process and decided to try anyway...never hurts to try. :) Thanks for the heads up, and if I trusted the Army's mailing system, I would have sent my laptop back for repair already. I guess I'll just kinda hang out and keep posting for another 4 months til I can get up and running to apply again.

  3. I just wanted to give a little blurb as to why I'm applying, as well as the questionnaire. I can't play online with Sacred 2 yet, due to my computer being out, but I'm getting it fixed in April and should be up and running then. Currently, I'm just enjoying hanging out in the Forums and contributing and I'm hoping to become a member prior to getting the game, so when I get it set up I'll be good to go and should know some people from the forums when I finally get up and running! Oh, I'm applying for the Sacred Clan!

  4. For those of you who love the Mass Effect games, Mass Effect 3 has been officially announced for release...In "Holiday 2011". Although they have raised my anticipation WAAAYYYY too early, I'm glad they have actually announced they will be creating a game, as well as putting out a video for it. Is anyone else anticipating this? Oh, the video is on the Mass Effect website.

  5. IMO, this game was a good and solid game...at first. Then I got extremely bored with it. I don't know if it was just not challenging enough as far as leveling up is concerned, or if it just got old doing the same thing over and over. It seems to me like the Elder Scrolls games have a functionality like MMOs, where they're really simple and everyone can play them with their open ended world and repetitiveness, but for me it just didn't work out. I spent a few hours playing it when it first came out, got really bored, then waited a while and went back to it to see if I could play it again...couldn't get over the fact that it's very similar all the way through the game.

  6. I pretty much use Crackhutch for everything. It all started a long time ago while playing D2 online for the first time. I was trying to create a char name that was unique and funny...so I tried making Crackmonkey and it didn't fit in the box, so I bumped it down to Crackmonk. After a while of playing as Crackmonk, and being the n00b that I was, I got duped and lost my account and lost the name Crackmonk in the process...I decided to try to continue with something similar so I kept 'Crack' then added the first part of my last name/my nickname 'Hutch' and it stuck.

  7. I don't know if this has been started already, but after starting to play the original Sacred again, I want to step it up to Sacred 2 so I can play online as well. The only problem is...I have a netbook, at least until April when I can get my laptop fixed. So...do you guys think it's possible to run Sacred 2 on a netbook?

    I'm currently running:

    Toshiba NB255 Netbook

Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 (Approx. 384mb)

Intel Atom CPU N455, 1.66GHz and 1.67GHz (dual-core) I believe the system said 3.1GHz Dual Core

    1 GB RAM

    32-bit Windows 7 Starter

    So as far as I know...it's possible to run it, barely. But I was just wondering if anyone has tried it and if it actually ran properly, or if I should just wait til my other computer is fixed...which is a long time. o.o;

    Any help would be appreciated!

  8. I love what the EOD guys do, and it's a very challenging field to work in, which is why there's a 97% drop out rate for it! I mean, who else can say they legitimately go play with explosives on a regular basis and get paid for it?
