  1. Seems I've been out of the loop for awhile. I seem to always manage to find my way back here though. Had Sacred 2 on my mind lately and been meaning to revisit. Gonna have to do some research but this Enhanced Edition mod someone caught my interest.

Always looking to find new ways to replay Sacred 2, either it be the Community Mod, or what else. It's just a shame Unbended never saw the light of day, and less said about Sacred 3 the better. I still haven't found an open world style APRG in that fills the mold that Sacred 2 has done to this very day. Nothing else seems to come close, unless I'm simply not looking hard enough.

Although I'm glad Darkmatters is still here and the love for Sacred 2 will always have a home here.

  2. Having a Seraphim in your game and having the old classes as spirits does not make this a Sacred game. All the things they excluded are why its not a Sacred game. I wasn't expecting much but this is beyond my imagination. I am glad I didn't buy this, all the talk of Sacred has done is make me rebuy Sacred 2 gold and replay it again.

I read you can finish Sacred 3 in 10 hours and do all the quests, you can't even get out of region one in Sacred 2 (if you do all the side quests anyway) in that time.

People on Steam say its dumbed down for consoles. No, this is a mobile game, consoles can handle Diablo 3, they can handle more than 2 attacks at once, they can handle inventories too, and open world maps. This is an Android game.

I may appear new here but I have played Sacred 2 before. I actually registered here again to see your opinions on this game. Its nice to see all the old faces are still here :)

Yeah the statement of some Steam members claiming Sacred 3 was made the way it was because it of consoles is baffling to me. I wonder how many of those people don't even realize that even Sacred 2 had a console release and was somewhat faithful to the PC port minus Ice and Blood.

This was just the publisher simply not giving a damn and taking an project unrelated to Sacred and trying to shoehorn it into one and failing in a colossal way.

Matt Lees, Jim Sterling, and Totalbiscuit had a go at it on the podcast:

The press has pretty much spoken. Sacred 3 is pretty much a steaming pile, and the worst part the community here at DarkMatters and others who have accounts on the official Sacred forums warned Deep Silver of this two years ago.

When you ignore the criticism and refuse to listen to your main fanbase of the series and decide to do what you want regardless of concenquences, then you pretty much deserve to fail, and this is exactly what happened.

  3. Post was a good read

as an aside... didn't they make a ton of money off the auction house>? Have they ever disclosed the coffers on that anywhere?

    :)

    gogo

Blizzard according to these two articles makes up to 15% on each real money transaction in the auction house.

    http://kotaku.com/5906675/blizzard-will-take-a-big-cut-of-any-money-you-try-to-make-from-playing-diablo-iii

    http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/05/blizzard-to-take-up-to-15-percent-of-diablo-iii-real-money-auction-house-sales/

However these articles are dated back since 2012 so the information may be inaccurate.

    Still just imagine the scenario

Let's say there was 5 Million trades at $20 each on the Auction house (5,000,000 x $20 = $100,000,000 and Blizzard gets 15% of this. Blizzard is walking away with $15,000,000 on virtual trades. Money that they will use for server maintenance and continued support of the game. It basically is paying for itself.

But since Blizzard shutdown the Real Money trading, They'll need to find another way to make up the extra funds.

Also people working within this system could make some decent money

For example - http://venturebeat.com/2014/03/19/meet-the-gamers-who-earned-big-in-the-now-closed-diablo-iii-real-money-auction-house/ (Article dated March 2014 so it's recent and shows just what was going on behind the scenes)

  4. FWIW, I think the mandatory henchmen in SP were removed.

Well that would be interesting. If this is indeed the case, I wonder what other changes were made. I'll just sit and wait until the release and see what happens.

Being slightly off topic - I just realized I Sacred 2 Gold isn't installed since I formatted my HDD two weeks ago, lets rectify that situation and get back into the game. Is that huge Sacred 2 world map still available on this website. I also need to grab that community patch to maximize my Sacred 2 experience.

  5. I personally think Deep Silver should have worked something out with Gaming Minds Studios. (Majority of Ascaron's staff after the closing of Ascaron created this studio)

As was stated numerous times in this discussion. If you aren't going to handle the series properly, the it would be better off it wasn't handled at all or at least let someone who is going to take care in doing so.

  6. Hmm I just bought my copy a few days ago

I wonder if I could get those weapon codes as well if it's not too much trouble?

I don't know if this makes any difference or not but my copy is Sacred 2 Gold from the DarkMatters store which includes Ice and Blood so I don't know if there is code changes amongst the different versions of Sacred 2 that were released.

  7. So having put roughly 60 or so hours in the original Sacred (Gold Edition btw) and decided to attempt the tedious task of attempting to fill in the red dot explored area range to encompass the entire world map, which I've decided was not worth it in the end due to the lack of enemy diversity or interesting things to do.

At times I felt that Sacred 1 had basically this mass expanse of empty plains or the desert in the south with basically nothing to do but fight and walk endlessly to the next town or map indicator / goal.

Sacred 2 however seems vastly improved in this regard in the sense that each locale has something different to see in terms of environment or location. It is much more varied.

Anyways getting to the point of my question.

In terms of time it takes to fill in the entire map from greyed out to full color in Sacred 2 and visit every possible location to consider the game 100% explored. Is world in Sacred 2 larger then the one in Sacred 1?

  8. Thanks for giving me an option to buy the game, I recently purchased Sacred 2 Gold from the Dark Matters online store.

I've played the original Sacred Gold a lot and never got the chance to play the second game.

Now it's just the matter of actually getting my copy downloaded. It's a rather large game I've only got 32% of the file transferred and the download manger says I still have 10 or so hours left remaining (Usually my connection is much faster then this, but then again it's not everyday I download a 13GB PC game)

I probably won't be able to play the game today but I am hoping I do get to at least play it tomorrow.

  9. Well I decided to create an account here as this website seems to be a central repository for all things Sacred / Sacred 2 related.

In fact I've just purchased a copy of Sacred 2 Gold from the DarkMatters online store so I hope this contributes to your website in some form (besides it gives me an excuse to own the Ice and Blood Expansion despite the fact I'm a US customer)

So I hope to enjoy my stay here and learn more about the Ice and Blood expansion.
