  1. No news from DS regarding S3, it has been very quiet for quite a while now.

E3 is a no but they will be at Gamescom but haven't said which games will be showed yet.

I'm still trying to hold onto a bit of hope that Keen might have gone back to the drawing board and will give the fans the game that they clearly want.

  2.

The only company making games for the fans seems to be Crate with Grim Dawn. A proper hack n slash that has a bit of an old school Sacred feel to it.

This is solid gold, and if S3 doesn't go the way we hope then I will definitely be spending my time enjoying Grim Dawn :)

It's just a shame that it won't have closed servers but hopefully if it's the success it deserves to be, then one day they may be able to afford them :)

  3. Look at where Ascaron is today. Bankrupt and dead to the world. I'm going to go out on a limb that Deep Silver knows darn well what exactly happened and do not want to duplicate whatever mistakes Ascaron did - and wind up in the dustbin of history.

The main reason Ascaron went bust is cause they tried to do too much, in too little time, when the economy was about to plummet.

Had they just concentrated on the PC version and finely tuned it from the start they could have made more expansions and might still be here now. IMO it was pushing for consoles that was a step too far for a small company with PC roots. I don't see that Ascaron made many mistakes to the development of the final games, only financial ones.

Based on that, I have no idea where DS are going with S3 and I fear it will be yet another dumbed down game that bares little resemblance to it's predecessors.

  4. Wow this thread is old, over 2 years since first hearing about this game and the open beta is almost upon us :bounce:

The last character wipe is on the 23rd so how many of you guys will be playing it?

They have released an open beta trailer which looks pretty awesome

  5. Not sure if anyone can help, but I tried to go onto the Sacred Wiki earlier today only to be confronted by a screen saying the site has been blocked by Chrome as it may contain malware. Now, naturally I can probably get round this by just using IE, but I prefer Chrome (well, until now...) Any idea what has caused this? I've not been prevented from getting to the site until now.

This also happens with the forum site too, Chrome blocks the site saying it is going to infect your computer with malware.

  6. Just cannot get enough. The Crate team is really thinking outside the box. As much as one can within the given peramiters. Taking the genre to a whole new level.

One can almost feel how this game could revolutionize how games are developed. DEVS and FANS coming together to create a potential masterpiece.

    Crate, aka: Game Changers

    I remain,

Exactly how I feel Etherian, I just love the way the devs interact and listen to the community and hope that other devs will follow suit.

GD is by far my most anticipated game of the next few years, S3 may have lost the open world but GD has it and might fill the gap for the open world ARPG.

  7. Thanks Birne, great write up

I really like the sound of some things but am struggling not to feel disappointed with others.

The best things about Sacred for me was being able to go where you want, with whoever you want and do whatever you want. If you want to organise a mass team hunting in the spider desert then you could. If you wanted to go explore the lava region on your own, then you could. Yes, as you levelled some of the early regions became under levelled but the progression made sense and you could wait for the next difficulty and start exploring the starter areas again.

I just don't understand the decision of locking the world :Just_Cuz_21: . Has anybody ever said "I hate being able to go all over the map in Sacred, I wish they would lock it to be mission based"?

I also hate being forced into teams to complete parts of the game, even if it is AI. The choice of teaming up is great and can being fun when you want to but don't force me to do it just to get through a part of the game.

The game does look beautiful though (trying to be optimistic) :P

  8. That picture does look cool, but its hard to tell how the game will actually look like. For me personally, I hope they stay away from the cartoonish style, it suits the side scroller well, but for an ARPG it won't work.

Yeah I hope so too. The only game of this type that somehow manages to pull off the cartoon style is Torchlight.

I also hope that the game isn't all "dark" areas like the image shows. My favourite areas of S1 are the starter areas with the green fields and the old medieval styled towns. As long as we get areas like Braverock Castle, then I'll be happy.

  9. Hey Gogo, that's great that a few DA'ers are still playing. Sadly my account was on the EU side so it would mean a complete restart with an empty stash. I just don't think the game is good enough to warrant a fresh start just yet.

A small group of us are having a blast in PoE, a much better party game than D3 IMO.

  10. I would try and get it back just in case the game gets fixed to be more fun in future patches. That is a kick in the teeth though and I wouldn't blame you if you uninstalled it.

I've tried and tried to keep playing D3 but it has been a let down for pretty much everyone I know. Somewhere underneath the AH grind is a good game but wether it can be patched to be the game it should be is debatable.

Hopefully Blizzard can bring D3 back to greatness.

  11. Holee molee cool news! Our Faith is holding strong, the winds are a turning... is this a listing of the games coming out for that event?

    Dobster, thanks for this post!

    :hugs:

    gogo

Yeah it's from Gamescom 2012 Gogo, so not long to wait :BlobRed:
