I don't think the game time is relevant. Steam seems to check only if the exe runs or not. I have another game with 48h game time only because I forgot to close the game and I only suspended the game in the background.

Have you installed the CM patch now or are you only running the default game?

From the guide I followed I quote this, which may help:

".\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sacred 2 Gold\redist\
First run VC, then DirectX and finally PhysX. Then reboot your computer."

Am I guessing right, that "no joy" means, the game starts with a black screen and YOU see the exe in the taskmanager running?

I tried it also for some hours until I found my setting which worked and it seems like everOne has some own settings which work :). don't give up!

I don't see that you tried running Steam as an Admin as I posted before. Did you try this? That was the last thing I did which finally helped.

So I am using Win10, Steam, Sacred 2 Gold, CM 1.6, Elite Textures and I got it to work with the "run as admin" - option in combination with the compatibility mode set to Win XP SP 3 and the starting params like mentioned above and I could play a little. I found this guide at steam forum very useful for my issues I had before: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=166938930

For some reasons which I don't know, it might be an Windows Update, this settings did not work any more. The only way to get the game then running was to start already Steam with administrator rights and suddenly the game worked like before. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the uploads, for me from the mega.nz link I got a corrupt graphics21.zip, so I downloaded the files from the Google docs link and ... well, there the graphics22.zip was corrupt  - so in total, I got it to work with both downloads, but maybe there's a better way? I can try upload the files seperately at mega or/and google drive, if wanted. And btw I didn't need a login for mega.nz to download the file.
