    I think one of the reasons Sacred is so good for me is the unique builds you can make, for example my magic user wood elf, using only Thorn Bush and Call of the Ancestors. as opposed to a bow build. It is the endless possibilities. I also loved my Wee Jock build, a grouchy little dwarf that beats mobs to death with his fists. Think outside the box. Think what is the most unlikely build to succeed then go build it and beat the game anyway!

    Yeah, like my Tank Battle Mage, builded by upgrading DMG and HP!

    Yes, I knew, and you know that about a month ago the experts said that Vesuvio was going to erupt? Luckily, they miscalculated!

    @Mare, so the side quests are somewhat necessary? I was afraid of that.

    If you play in bronze difficulty level, side quest are the easier way to level up, but when you reach difficulties like gold, platinum or niobium they become useless.

    For example, I'm currently playng with a Battle Mage (in the picture) in "gold" difficulty level and I'm doing all the side quest (more than 300), but killing enemies give me more experience.

    I just started a Gladiator a few days ago

    If you have just started a champaign, I recommend you to meke the side quest "where is the blacksmith", it's really imortant. If you get bored, try the Battle Mage or the Dark Elf, because the Gladiator have no combact arts, so he's more boring, as the characters I mentioned before are the most fun.

  4. Also, there is another thing which make exploration easier: horses!

    Everytime you have to make a long journey, you can ride a horse, and they're very fast, trust me, or you can go on foot. Fighting on horseback is not easy, so if you use a horse is better to escape enemies than fight them. So, you get more experience of foot, but you need more time!

    "Progression is so slow and the game is so big that you have to play for hundreds of hours to complete all difficulties and move to another class/build."

    This is exactly the reason why I love these games. The piddly little games that you complete in a couple of dozen hours put me off no end. If a game is worth playing it is worth taking time to enjoy. I can't understand these people who seem to want to rush to endgame as fast as they can, almost as if they can't wait for the game to be finished with so they can rush on to something else. For me Titan Quest was boring as hell, it was like being on rails with no option except to follow the alloted course. I have about 700 hours into Sacred 1 and I am still finding things I have not seen before. Morrowind I am well over a 1000 hours and have not finished the Bloodmoon expansion in that game, hell I have hardly started that part! I suppose my playstyle is exactly what Ascaron was aiming for when they developed Sacred, players who wanted a massive gaming experience that would keep them enthralled for hundreds of hours just playing a single character class and with the knowledge that they had it all to look forward to again with another 7 unique character classes, each of which would supply a different playing experience.

    I really got my money's worth with the Sacred games, unlike a lot of modern, supposedly AAA titles which cost ten times as much and are over and finished with in a fraction of the time. Sacred provided quality gaming, and didn't try to hide mundane gaming with pretty graphics as so many games do these days.

    I completely agree!

  6. Hi, LEXX.

    I never played Sacred II, so I'm not qualified to talk about it, and I will tell you what I think about Sacred I.

    The game take about 40 hours, so it isn't so long. The map is huge, but exploration it's not good because you can look around, but because there are:

    • 10 dragons, almost impossible to find;
    • A lot of easter eggs like Tristram, the Pacman Cave, the Pong cave, the Friday 13th items and a lot of others;
    • Side quests.

    Side quests help you to raise your character a lot, as they give you money, experience, set items and runes!

    Anyway, I don't think I can change your mind, but I hope you will like the games.

  7. A great part of the Blue Islands have a temperate climate, but in the southern island of Tare-me there is the huge city of Jaddar, wich is positioned just between a jungle and the sea!

    Unfortunately, if you want to reach Jaddar, you have to travel through the Haastland, a terrible desert where lives raiders and the temperature is too hot during the day, and too cold at night. Oh, and also a lot of sandstorms ...

    I will enjoy looking at your "new world" and inspecting its details upon the completion of your draft. Might I inquire as to whether or not this is your first serious endeavor with the art of cartography? I do admire what you have cobbled together thus far.

    :thumbsup:

    No, this isn't my first approach on cartography, nor the best. But certainly the greatest. Almost everyday I create a table game and the most are RPG, so I make a fantasy-style map for everyone.

    :smart:

  9. Yeah, maybe you're in reason.  For the way of drawing it, surely it resembles us (it is a mixture between the style of Tolkien maps and the true maps of 1600 - 1700). Instead the characteristics of the territory do not look like anything, being a group of islands arranged in a circle around that bigger. In addition, a part of the design devised by me are the cities, which I represented with small miniatures instead of the usual dot or square. However, as soon as I have the strength to finish it, I will make a beautiful picture seen from above and I will post it!

  10. Ok guys, this time I'm writing a serious topic .

    This story begins in 2006, when I was ten years old. At that time I began to read books and I approached Tolkien's work (of which I then read 32 books !!!). So I started to get interested in the fantasy genre, and I soon came up with a story of my own. Two years later, from 2008 to 2010, I wrote three short novels (if you want to know the plot, simply ask me in a reply) set in an archipelago called the "Blue Islands". I have developed this world perfectly, so much so that I have invented toponyms in the languages of the respective regions, having made dozens of maps in different historical periods, maps of the typical production of the places and the annals of each kingdom and a lot of other things. Last week I found some notes on these novels and I decided to make a very mallet map, joining all the others. So, as you can see in the picture, I started working on it and tomorrow, when I finished it, I will post another photo where you can see the map perfectly and read it. The map is 23 x 33 inches (59 x 84 cm)! It is a very hard work!

    Work - in - progress

  12. I know that these topics do nothing but fill the forum, without any meaning. This "quiz" in fact, is not at all different from the previous ones, but it is only their union and refinement. So if you do not have time or if you are on DarkMatters for more serious reasons, do not read on. :inquire: I chose to ask a few questions, to get bored as little as possible. The purpose of this topic is obviously the one written in the title. Make sure that each member of the community knows others better. In short, it is useless but it's nice.  :bounce:
