  1. what settings are you running Mythos at? Maybe, you should try some lower settings too, and make sure to kill all unecessary background applications before running Mythos..

Everything is at the lowest video setting and I always run games with nothing in the background (learnt to do that ages ago). :drinks:

I'm going to try disabling HyperThreading as discussed in this thread to see if that helps.

  2. Ok,

After talking to some ppl in the game it appears that the stuttering in the video I am experiencing is not uncommon.

Seems that ppl that are close to the servers also experience it.

So far what I have seen in common is we have a Pent 4.

I am thinking that it may be a cpu glitch rather than a server prob. But its still way too early to tell. :)

Even so, I did play today for a few hours and quite enjoyed the game. ;)

  3. One of my favourite snacks.

Two brown onions thickly sliced (though purple or white are ok too) .

    One clove of garlic crushed.

Small frypan with one desert spoon of good olive oil.

Heat the oil then add the garlic. Cook for 15secs then add the onion.

Cook till the onions just start to turn colour. Don't over cook, we want the onions to keep some of their crunch.

Add cooked onions to one wholemeal roll with a slice of ham and sliced tomato if you like.

All washed down with a glass of your favourite ale.

  4. maybe if I were to send you one you could use it. A 2.28 ASE version that is.

My version says 2.0.2.28 and its 11.3meg.

That's a bit big thanks Schot so I wont worry about it. ;)

I don't play sacred much these days anyway, so one processor will be fine.

I can always reinstall the game if needed. ;)

I'm still kicking myself that I didn't do a backup, I'm always so careful about stuff like that.

I'll put it down to just having a brain fart at that moment :)

  5. Let me know if there's something you're stuck on stubbie. :P

Me just did a big boo boo. 34.gif

I forgot to back up my Sacred.exe.

The utility worked fine (I have only one processor with Sacred now) but I want to put it back to two for comparison.

    How?

Do you know if the utility is a registry entry because I'm comfortable mucking around in the registry. :)

I cant believe I forgot to back up Sacred.exe. thud2.gif

  6. Hey, thanks for the offer of help all :D

(If this gets too off topic then could a mod please relocate it)

    My pc is as follows:

    Pent 4\3.2Ghz Northwood using HyperThreading

2Gig low latency 2-2-2-5 Corsair RAM

ATI Radeon Sapphire X800XT Platinum 256meg video

    2xSATA drives, 120gig and 300gig

    SB 24bit soundcard

My ISP is cable. I did a speed test from this great site.

My local speed comes in at 10,256kbps and a test from my pc to New York comes in at 2,036kbps.

A question. Is there an easy way to check the ping in Mythos? I'm so spoilt with Guild Wars having a icon you can use :P

I class my pc knowledge as intermediate so most tech talk can be understood (within reason).

Thanks for any help as I think I might like Mythos, but death by lag is a bummer. :)

    edit:

ok..worked out how to get the ping.

    approx results:

    120ms processed on server

    200ms game ping on server

    200ms processed on client

  7. Hmmm, I wonder if that could be better. I've read from various sources that Hyper-Threading isn't really that great. Might be better just to have it off completely. I'll have to try that! :D

I'm reading the same stuff Schot.

There seems to be conflicting info about HyperThreading on the net.

Some say it gives a small improvement even with only one application running others says it can give a slight decrease :P

I am mainly concerned with performance only in games and all gamers know that an extra couple of fps are always welcome. :)

Schot, I tried the utility but I couldnt seem to get it to work (hows does one even check if it is working? :) )

I like PowerPyx's suggestion about duel booting but last time I attempted a duel boot I failed miserably at the exercise.

Guess I need to do more research. :D

  8. Hi Stubbie! :)

re: Sacred and the 22" screen: Ever consider running Sacred in Window mode (ie, not full screen)?

I run Sacred on my 19" and 17" monitors in window mode... the game is centered and looks great.

Have fun whatever you decide to do! ("I will think over time" )

Thanks for the suggestion Frosty but it isn't that easy.

The 22" LCD widescreen has an aspect ratio of 16:10. Sacred is designed for 4:3.

I have an ATI card and it doesn't allow for Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling like nVidea cards do (yet another reason why I wont be getting another ATI card again  )

So the only option I have is to play Sacred in a very tiny window or have it stretched out of proportion.

Sorry to keep going off topic people as I know that most places frown on it. But I like to answer people when they ask me a question or suggest something.

I think its just polite. :)

    So back onto topic.......

Thanks all for the warm welcomes. This place has a really good feeling about it and I thankyou for allowing me to become part of it. :P

New years resolution (under protest)...DIET! That means no beer! :)

The one that makes the rules :bye: has had pity on me and said that if I'm good for one month then I can then go to the pub and have beer and order a big steak. :cow_white:

22 days to go and counting.......please pray for me.

  10. How did you find the Witcher?

I saw it in my games shop.

To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed by it. It is a real resource hog so make sure you have a beefy pc.

I found the alchemy system very cumbersome and unfortunately its a major part of the game. There is no inventory auto sorting of any type and it is really necessary to have.

The combat system can be very unresponsive which just leads to frustraing times and frantic mouse clicking.

The story was good but suffers terribly (at times) from bad translation. This game could have been a great rpg but the flow of the conversation gets broken with the translation.

    example:

quest giver "will you do this quest for us?"

Geralt "I will think over time"

quest giver "then that is made a great contribution"

    Geralt "tomorrow will tell"

    I mean...huh?

But, overall I did enjoy it. The basic story of a witcher is a very interesting one. The voice acting is mainly superb and the graphics outstanding (use first person perspective to fully appreciate them)

The game play suffers a bit with the clumsy inventory and alchemy system and the combat system while not bad, could do with improving.

But apart from the negatives there are a lot of positives about the game.

I usually don't finish games as I get bored with them however I finished The Witcher but it will be some time till I want to play again (and there are reasons to play again due to different endings and story-lines)

    7/10

My name is stubbie and I'm from Clan DA.

I have known Gogo for a long time online and we met in the SIF.

Sacred is my favourite game but these days I don't play (mostly due to the fact it just don't look pretty on my new 22" LCD widescreen monitor :(

I am active in Guild Wars and have just finished playing The Witcher. Currently I am also playing Hellgate London.

I'm a male, married with a 26 yr old son and two teenage daughters :sigh:

I work in the Taxation office (please don't hold that against me.....I pay taxes too :sob:

I have known about Dark Matters for some time now but never really looked at the place properly.

Well this time I did and I liked what I saw  so here I am
