  1. My college age Grandkids never buy from Amazon so who's to say if Amazon will rule the future shopping world.    JC Penny's was poorly managed as was Sears.   Stores like Costco, TJ Maxx and Apple are thriving.   And around here, Mom and Pop stores are doing well.

As for grocery stores offering online shopping with delivery (or drive thru pickup), that's a convenience that's long overdue.    With commute times stretching into hours rather than minutes, there just isn't time left for shopping.

  2. Sacred 2 is the only time this overly bright screen happens.   The game looks fine until I reach a really bright area like snow and then the entire screen gets completely washed out.   And I didn't mean the gamma settings.   One player said that changing glow=1 to glow=0 in the options file would solve this problem.

I haven't yet...but I have noticed that for sites like DarkMaters, wiki and other forums, the rendering is different..."seems" faster but I dont have specific personal numbers yet... am just putting in all my book marks to see how I like the feel...LOVE how FF allows us to choose to instantly change to the window of whatever tab I open up by depressing the mouse wheel...one of my absolute favorite browser tricks of all time

Oooooooo   I didn't know that trick.    tks

FF doesn't have that delay that Chrome has before jumping to a new topic.   It does seem faster.

  4. Thanks gogo     Did you run the ookla test?      The new Firefox  54 Mbps and Google 65 Mbps    :starwars:

The new FF sounds like it has some nice new features tho...    Plus, when my cable co came out to fix their broken modem, they charged me $45 for using Google instead of FF.   Said that's why their lines were so slow.   :nono:

  5. Whenever I play an area that is especially bright, my monitor graphics turn almost white for the entire screen.   I checked the options file and glow is set at 0 so I have no idea how to fix this.  I remember it happening on my old pc too.... just don't remember how to fix it.    :nono:      I just finished the Christmas quest and some frames were nothing but white.

  6. During the past week, we've had up to 5" of rain in the valley and 3' of snow here at beautiful Lake Tahoe.    The lake rose by 3" and the ski resorts opened for the season.    This link shows Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.    Heavenly Valley and Mt Rose are also open with several feet of fresh snow.    Kirkwood will open next week.   The temperature in Reno will be 70 (21c) and sunny during the Thanksgiving week.   The entire Bay Area (San Francisco area) is expected to come up for the holiday.  :)

Flix and Dimitrius have been doing insane work, Purring, and almost non-stop lately... have you seen as well Flix's Diablo Super mod?

Haven't gotten that far yet.     Ashamed to say, but I'm just trying to find my way around the map/game again.   It's been about six years since I've played and I've forgotten a lot.     With all the wonderful mods you all have done here, it's like a brand new game.    cat

    Attached. ;)

It's not 100% complete, and some changes made since CM 1.40 aren't reflected, but it's mostly accurate.  The "for creatures" column is the bonus number, and the "for items" column lists the bonusgroup number.  Be sure to brush up on the difference if you're not sure which to reference.

Thank you very much  :wow:     I have a list of codes and their meaning from postings here and the Blueprint file that will help in deciding which column to use.   I'm just going to tweak a few items.

  9. Hi Gogo     I'm that purringcat from Clan Da and the login name is purringcat.   Nothing I tried worked to revive that account.

It's nice to play Sacred 2 again... missed the game and all the people I played with.

Thanks Flix  :)    I've enjoyed all your posts on making the game more fun.    Have an awesome level 2 trader now.

  10. Does the dmgvariation change the damage done by a weapon?  And if not, how do you change the damage done by a weapon?   And what does minconstraints do?    If I wanted an item to change from every 20 levels down to 10, would this impact it?   I tried just using lvljump but it still kept the old levels.   And I'm not new here, I just couldn't log into my purringcat account.  :)

      dmgvariation = 0,
      minconstraints = {10,13,0},

  11. My apologies. I stand corrected. You should be able to walk through the gate and start the Mount Quest in Free World.

I'm sure this was unavailable at some point on the console version (because I remember trying to "troubleshoot" the Mount Quest not being available in Free World with friends, but we all gave up and assumed it was another quest locked to Campaign). I think this was pre-patch.

I can confirm that the other quests that I listed are still unavailable in Free World though (at least, on console).

I've thought of some possible solutions:

Wet Danger - If reloading the game doesn't have any effect, then perhaps reinstalling the game might (emphasis on "might") fix all of the issues. Otherwise, these seem to be permanent issues of the Steam version (though I'm not sure why the coding would change just for the Steam version). Alternatively: Are there any patches or updates (such as the CM Patch) which you could install also?

Getting to the Mount Quest - If the doors are closed, use the underground tunnel (from the Light campaign).

I uninstalled the game and started completely new toons - two of them to make sure things worked. It solved the issue at least in freeplay. They both have mounts and the gate was open. There were a number of smaller issues with quests (the gray circle didn't change spots when it should) and those are gone too.

I really thank everyone for their advice and your website is great. I tweaked my balance file so the toons run faster and that's a joy. :ike:

  12. These are both expected. You can only pass through the gates at Dragonmaw Pass if you are in the Shadow Campaign, and certain quests are not available in Free Mode (such as the Mount Quest, Class Quests, the Seraphim Island Arena and Dragon boss quests, the Blind Guardian quest and the Spirit of Atherton).

That's not quite correct. My first comeback char was a light seraphim and she went through the gates in freeplay and did the mount quest.

And I've spent last past week trying to understand how she did it.

  13. It's been years since I played this game and have a question.

In the new Steam version, the Shaman is NOT immortal and he died on the way to draining the lake. I no longer have an orange circle and there's a big red X on the quest Wet Danger. Does this mean I have to start over or is there a way to resurrect the quest. Am playing a light Dryad.

There are other deviations in the Steam version of Ice and Blood. You can't pass through the gates at Dragonmaw Pass and can't do the Mount quest in Freemode.

Edit: thanks for helping me get back on Gogo

  14. Thought Maxis was done making Simcity sequels as it's been awhile since SC4, but just found out SC5 is coming out sometime in 2013....can't wait. Played every version of this game :)

Maxis was done with the SimCity series. Fired all the staff just as BAT was being released. But the game didn't die, it flourished and the SC4 Devotion site has some wonderful creations. I was a guest artist (name in manual stuff) for SC3 and Beta tester for BAT. My guess is this game will do OK, but if they don't have a user creation element to it, it won't last long. If you ditched SC4 without downloading some of user creations, you don't know how much you missed. Look for BSC creations and items by SWI21. Also, check out the mods that transform the terrain and add surface water. Download a few things from the LEX esp Landmarks. http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php SC4D works better on Internet Explorer

  15. I found the place rather amusing and the fact it drops like the next difficulty level is great, few decent drops fo me in there :)

The monsters on normal Whimsyshire are equal to level Act III & IV normal.

It's fun but you can die here so remember to stop laughing and kill a few things.

And unfortunately, it's one of the things that Blizzard has nerfed. :(

I think its actually equal to the next difficulty. I got some pages of jewelcrafting/blacksmithing to drop in there in normal which are nightmare drops.

That's what I have read. Thus :- if you collect the items and make 'the item' in normal, then you will face nm level mobs, and so on. So, what on earth will it be like when you collect/make an inferno item ? Try impossible ?!

*Still trying not to give too much away*

In the spirit of not saying too much, here's what's been posted.

And you don't need to collect stuff after normal level,

just upgrade the tool used to enter the area.

Be careful in HC as you can get one hit on entering the area.

    Whimsyshire Levels

    Normal - 30

    NM - 50

    Hell - 60

    Inferno - 61

  17. The main consequence of dying is really frustration :D

Truer words were never said ;) Whenever I die in sc it's a learning experience accompied with a flare of anger at either my own stupidity or the enemies :4rofl:

Just wanted to drop in and say a few words on this subject. Dmol & I are playing SC in Hell (and yes it's hellish). We're level 53 and die often in MP. You lose 10% of your equipment value with dying which isn't cheap... it's now over $800 per death to repair. But more important than dying, is playing MP at a huge disadvantage over SP.

Both of us can breeze through areas in SP (Field of Misery and Doom of Wortham), which become unplayable in MP. The addition of that extra 'string' monster and extra 'elemental dmg' added to their arsenal of weapons when you try and finish a quest can be insurmountable. It's something to think about when you play HC vs SC. Do you play SP or MP.

  18. I like the game but it frustrates me at times.

In act 3 mobs get ridiculously hard and frequent.

And this is only in normal difficulty.

I have died too many times to count. The fact that I have to remain online all the time really irkes me. Being in Australia we get lag issues. It has to be factored into every build.

I wish the game had an offline single player mode so I could experience the game as well as you guys are without lag issues.

But I still will continue playing. I like the style of game though as has been mentioned the builds seem to be very restrictive when compared to similar games.

Once I complete the campaign on my own I look forward to joining up in parties and doing it all again with others.

Have to agree with Stubbie that Act III monsters are insane. There's no game plan here, just waves and waves of monsters. It's not fun and the only strategy or thought involved is just staying alive. On top of that, often when I enter the game, I'm totally surrounded by monsters so survival isn't possible. So much for HC. HC must require that your checkpoint is always at a home base with no chance of landing in the midst of a monster fest. Loved SC2 HC play but this game sabotages HC players.

  19. I know several people have asked for playing tips so I thought I would mention a few that are important to me based on what I have seen so far with the game.

    1) Have a skill that stuns/slows/confuses all enemies near you...this can literally mean the difference between life and death

    2) Have a skill that heals you. health potions have a 30 sec cooldown...an eternity in a fight

    3) Also having a skill or itwm mod that increases the chance of enemies dropping health globes is very useful.

Sure I'll think of more...but time to play :D

Have a level 21 Demon Hunter and have yet to see a skill that includes 2 & 3 nor any items that increase health globe drops. Took the Templar along for a bit with his healing skill but he doesn't use it. Getting around the 30 sec cooldown would be great. Using Vault for now which is very useful.
