Patch 2.65 file size is 28.7 MB

Below is the sections of the 2.65 readme file that differ from the 2.64 file. Many of the differences from below are simply a matter of proper translation. In previous readme files much of the text used German terminology. Much of that is translated now into English.

    * The calculation of free disk space during the installation process will now check more accurately if enough disk space is available

Can someone please explain to me why people are complaining about this patch? From reading the patch notes it looks like they have actually done a lot with this patch. Am I missing something?

    Warm regards

  2. Hi Raven and thanks for sharing your opinion about Sacred 2.

Bunny quest... that reminds me S1 when you start off with a brand new Battle Mage in SP. You have to defeat a creature in a place surrounded by stones. Once dead, you click a monolith (or something like that) and it spawns rabbits. Can't remember if they're agressive or if you must have a "kill animal" item but you can spawn millions of them and toast'em to your convenience.

Aren't the people complaining about ease playing cookie-cutter builds ? S1 was damn easy also, but trying to get a "unique" char through niob was a real challenge. Ease is the result of laziness. Fun is the result of creativity. And by buying Sacred 2, I think I knocked at the right door.

    Cheers

I'm not sure if they are using cookie cutter builds or not, but the complaints are all over the SIF. I suppose it depends on what you're used to and what you are expecting. Personally I like taking new characters starting them on the easiest level and working my way up. In Sacred 2 case this is Bronze. When I shared my play style a number of people told me that bronze was too easy and not worth it. I didn't agree, and stuck with bronze until I realised that the item drops I was getting wasn't matching my character level for the area I was in. At that point I switched to silver.

Now this is just me, but personally I found switching to silver got me in over my head at that stage of my characters development. All the monsters matched my level, and they constantly respawned so their was no way to back off into a safe cleared area if you got in over your head (which I did). Even when I did adjust, I found that whilst I could clear out normal groups of monsters, Bosses would wipe the floor with me. Keep in mind that this is my first time through the game and I haven't been reading up on walkthroughs, etc cause I didn't want to spoil the game experience. I ended up getting so frustrated with bosses that I went back to bronze with a new character.

One major negative with Sacred 2 that no one has mentioned is the blasted escort quests. These are not fun, as the NPC's you have to escort are a.dumb, b. Run at supersonic speeds, and c. Die quicker then you can say "Don't run into that pack of monsters you twit!" Don't be surprised if you fail a number of the escort quests through no fault of your own.

  3. you bought EU-version, right? if so I hope to see you on the servers soon :D

As soon as I get my CG card back, Erling, I'll roam in Ancaria with you

    Hi Nihilith,

We haven't met in game, but like you I fell in love with S1 and took my time picking up Sacred 2. I know you have the game now, so you'll be able to form your own opinions on it, which I'm interested in reading, but I thought I might throw my own thoughts in here.

First off I miss S1:UW, the dwarf in particular, as he really appealed to me. Taken on it's own merits Sacred 2 is a great game. It's game world is immense, and the monster population is huge. The number of builds you can come up with is staggering, but what keeps me playing is the sense of humor with the game. My last quest is a prime example of the humor, I was hired by a gardener in one of the main citys to kill 'bunnies'. Yep that's right, cute, cuddly and adorable rabbits. I ran round with my High Elf nuking them with Incendiary Shower a CA that rains down meteors from the sky. I can't remember a time when I laughed so hard or had so much fun with a game.

Bug wise, having fully patched the game and solely playing in SP mode, the only bug I've run into is a memory leak that crashes the game when you save and exit it after a long play session. Some people complain about the game being too easy, something that the dev's fixed in the upcoming expansion pack.

I hope you have as much fun with Sacred 2 as I am having.

    Regards

  4. All I have to say on that thread on SIF: I hope those trolls don't come here.

That's the only thing that drove me away from SIF.

    cheers!

    Chareos Rantras

There's a fine line between trolls and passionate fans methinks. I've made a couple of posts in that thread myself, trying to be a voice of reason. Personally I feel kinda sorry for CDV, they seem to be caught in the middle of a communications breakdown and I know how annoying those can be.

Passoniate Fans don't keep flaming a thread just cuz the game isn't released earlier or information given if the expansion will be released or not.

They just wait till the game comes and buy it to support there favorite game devs.

Passoniate Fans don't pester the poor managers of CDV etc. to give more information in the extent that those pull their hair out of frustration..

Passoniate Fans will just take the answer they get (which they got from the CDV manager) and just wait what comes.

Passoniate Fans would never stop loving a franchise, in that thread some people "threatend" to stop buying products from a certain publicers.

I really don't think we found ONLY (=> only stands for: there were passoniate fans but not all) passoniate fans in that thread....

    cheers!

    Chareos Rantras

    Very true Chareos, very true.

I guess I try to look at things from both points of view. On one side I can see where CDV is coming from and understand their frustration, on the other side I can also understand the fans frustration. There were two posters in that thread whom I suspect are trolls, both of which behaved in the manner you outlined. Out of those two, one was really behaving badly, the other was just stirring the pot. The rest, well to me they just came across as passionate fans and I can't judge them because I can be just as passionate on occasion.

Hopefully all this uproar will die down once Deep Silver communicates their intentions with the community. Right now the lack of communication from Deep Silver is helping to fuel the frustration.

  6. Oh yes you can play this build everywhere no problem. In some places you wont be able to use BT because of the water but you will have IS for that. The coblot chieftain is a strange one better said he looks so strong because he is at the start of the game and non of your CAs really pack a serious punch. As for later IS will take out any boss. Now for changing Skills. You can change DA lore no problem and take ether EP or CD but keep Constitution even though you are soft core you dont really want to restart the game over and over just because of low HP?

Thanks for the response Kat. Taking constitution is a pain because I really wanted to have both EP and CD in the build and I'm finding myself running short of skills. Having said that if I must take constitution then I'll skip EP as I feel CD is more important to the build.

    Warm regards

  7. Hi Kat,

Great guide, but I have a question or two that I was hoping you'd answer for me. Currently I'm working my way through the single player game, as I want to do every area in the game, not just the hunting grounds areas I was wondering is this build a viable build to do that? What happens if I run into highly resistant/immune fire/physical damage bosses? I ask this because I did the Kobold Chieftain on bronze and my fire spells were hardly making a dent on him. Mind you I don't have IS yet so maybe that will make a difference. I was thinking on swapping out Delphic Arcania Lore for Enhanced Perception and Constitution for Combat Discipline. I know that Constitution would be considered somewhat vital for a hardcore build, but as my HE is softcore at the moment I didn't think swapping out Constitution for Combat Discipline would hurt. What do you think?

  8. I'll just take a moment to rain on everybodys parade here:

There's one big negative: Sacred 2 comes saddled with SecuROM and no amount of whitewashing is going to change the fact that it is a goddamn rootkit.

Ok my turn to come in here. I was one of those people who made a number of posts regarding Securom when the developers announced it. I didn't pick the game up when it was released as a protest vote. I didn't download the game illegally as I am against that, so that meant I went without.

I have just recently picked up Sacred 2 and speaking as someone who has personally been bitten badly by Securom in the past, let me just say that whilst Sacred 2 does have it's issues, Securom is not one of them. It may be an issue with the expansion and Windows 7 but that's something I'm hoping Deep Silver will sort out with a patch. Sacred 2 will revoke it's license automatically upon uninstallation so you don't have have to worry about activations and losing your game.

The problem with Securom is that you can't make blanket statements about it, simply because it has a number of options and different developers/publishers choose different options depending upon their needs/desires at the time. Ascaron choose some pretty good options for it's implementation of Securom with this game, unlike say EA with Spore.

Now getting back on topic, Sacred 2 has a deeper method of customising your character's skills then any other game I've seen. I haven't seen Titan Quest so I don't know how Sacred 2 compares to that. The world is immense, the humor is great, and the game is beautiful graphics wise. I suggest downloading the demo and giving it a try to see how you like the game.

  9. Hi Everyone,

I've posted here at least once before so I'm not entirely a newbie, but I've just picked up Sacred 2 so I'll be spending time here reading and analysing threads :). I have played Sacred 1 and I loved it, I would have picked up Sacred 2 upon release but I disagreed with the DRM it used (based on first hand personal experances with other games that used the same DRM rather then heresay or just reading about it on the internet) and I didn't pick it up as a protest vote. Recently a game store down here in New Zealand had the game on special at a 69% discount and I couldn't resist picking it up. Now I can't stop playing it, and I have to say that my concerns about the DRM were groundless as I haven't had any problems with Sacred 2 implementation of it. Oh well once bitten, twice shy I guess.

I've preordered Ice and Blood and I'm looking forward to getting it in November. A big concern I have at the moment is that a lot of builds seem to rely upon +skills to make them work and from what I've read +skills has been severely nerfed in the expansion, so I'm a bit wary of using builds that have +skills. I also hope that DS releases a patch to fix the memory issues the game seems to have in vista/w7. Despite the bugs and DRM I love this game and I'm looking foward to Sacred 3.

    Regard

    Raven

  10. Finally the truth revealed, the developers got the SW golden diapers from...

    bruno_poster.jpeg

btw I'm not sure if posting this image is ok or not so feel free to remove it if need be. It's just the backend of Gogo's SW with the golden jockstrap reminded me so much of the Bruno poster :D
